A match for the ages this. Crawley second bottom having been smashed 5-0 by a mediocre Doncaster side in the last game, Barnsley looking to break a club record with 7 successive away defeats. This may be the only time in the history of football where both teams lose.

Of course the big news this week in League One was us getting shot of Danny Wilson, 13 months and a 50% loss record later. With this managerial change I'm hoping that for the first time in a long time we set up to win and win well tomorrow. No sitting back from the first whistle and hoping to nick a goal, no Waring up front on his own 20 yards away from the nearest team-mate, play our best attacking side and go for it. I'm not expecting for a minute that we'll do what Doncaster did, and of course Crawley have beaten us at Oakwell already this season so will not only want to bounce back from Tuesday, but complete a first league double of the season.

However, we need to win tomorrow as well. Badly. I do not want to think about the state of the main Barnsley forum should we lose (given there was a very mixed reaction to Wilson being sacked), but I also don't want to think about the state of our league position.

I'm not going to provide a prediction, but it'll be the first away game I've missed since October and after watching us lose 6 on the bounce away from home, it would be typical if we actually put in a good performance and won for once.

Crawley fans (if indeed there are any on here), what are your thoughts on the game? Are you likely to be as bad as you were Tuesday?

We can be quite good but rarely are.

Last season we had a shit pitch and a reasonable team. Just the opposite this season.

If we win I'll be amazed. If we get more than a 2500 crowd I'll be amazed. I don't expect to be amazed.

Enjoy the trip Barnsley fans.

You have to laugh. But then I think of the 419 who have bothered to travel down today even after 6 away defeats in a row to support our disgrace of a team, and I just feel sorry for them. I hope every single one of them is refunded at least the price of their ticket, and I hope it comes out of the pockets of the players.

We've lost at home to a team which could only muster 89 fans for a league game, and now lost 5-1 at the team in 23rd who had just lost 5-0 at home in midweek. It might not be for some the older supporters who saw us in Division 4, but for me, this is my lowest point as a Barnsley fan. It can only get better though eh?

Awful result for Barnsley, perhaps the players should look at themselves and not just the management.

Our commentators were apoplectic at our more senior players. Lita, Hourihane, Cranie, Nyatanga, all should be absolutely ashamed of themselves today, and indeed for their performances over most of the season. We've a team which on paper should be challenging at the upper end of the table, not being panned in consecutive games against Fleetwood and Crawley, less breaking a club record for consecutive away defeats. Wilson failed to motivate them, and we desperately need someone now that can. God knows who though.

I'm amazed!! :fl:

You were actually quite good for the first 25 minutes, and but for a great save from Price the afternoon would probably gone your way.

I think the last time we scored 5 in the league was at the pretend wombles 3 years ago.

Yeah from the sounds of it we dominated the game until you scored with the last kick of the half. I don't buy the "if we'd have scored first we'd have won comfortably" excuse though, there was literally no good reason on earth for the pathetic collapse of our shambles of a side in the second half. Our interim manager has said if he's in charge next week, certain players will be getting dropped. Hopefully Lita, Hourihane, Nyatanga and Cranie. Would happily show them the door now if we weren't so thin on the ground.

What's gone wrong with Hourihane? He was on fire earlier this year?

That's a bit disrespectful to Crawley.

I don't think it's just down to the Crawley result to be fair.

Is Winnall's injury making a big difference?

Not sure how well he was doing before he picked it up.

I don't think it's making a huge difference but you're always going to miss a proven goalscorer, and he was doing well before the injury.

Not really. It was our 7th consecutive away loss for a start.

And we've missed Winnall immeasurably. The other forwards we've got aren't fit to lace his boots.
