depressing to think our closest game next season could be Notts County. Here's hoping Shrewsbury come down and go Tranmere up.

The only club in the National League whose crowds are 20 times smaller than Tranmere's is Borehamwood.
I'm interested to know which home crowds Cheltenham's travelling support have outnumbered - Borehamwood?

Boreham Wood, Forest Green, Welling we had close also at Kidderminster and Guiseley this Saturday those just off the top of my head. There are a stack of clubs who operate on just a few hundred fans and the work of volunteers, it's highly commendable but makes a stark contrast to league football. Also many clubs will turn up with a mini bus of fans apart from the ex-league clubs like Grimsby and Wrexham who both brought 500 here.

Borehamwood (especially) and Welling have small fan bases so any team with a sizable away following so it is not that hard to outnumber them. However, I doubt that you took enough to outnumber either Kiddy or FGR, did you really take more than 1500 to either of them?

Don't know other people's views on this, but it genuinely wouldn't surprise me if Dario decided to retire if we ended up getting relegated from League Two next season. I reckon with the cuts to the Academy that would have to occur if we got relegated from the FL there's no way Dario would have any interest in staying on at the club should that happen.

Club legend he may well be, but it honestly wouldn't surprise me if he left us in the lurch. He's currently doing it now by keeping that disgrace in charge at the expense of bringing in an 'outsider'.

This is not Dario Gradi FC or Steve Davis FC. I think these two people and their allies tend to forget that from time to time.

Congratulations to Steve Davis in order from everyone. Last night he was promoted to the level of Epic Twat.

Going live on radio to deny any responsibility for our plight, claim we've overachieved and he's done a brilliant job to keep us in the football league (and that will be the aim next season). Then trying to play fans off one another, in his belief the majority support him. Recommending younger fans speak to older fans to hear what this club is all about.

Well done Steve. Piss stain.

Personally don't want to get on DG's back. I don't think he would jump ship, he'll only leave in a box. He's more likely to leave IMO if the rest of the board have a change of heart and find a bit of ambition. That may be the problem.

For me, the two major changes needed that can be made are to the management and to the chairmanship. No room for sentimentality, Bowler should accept he's failed to steer the ship successfully in recent years.

I don't want to get on his back, I think Davis' car-crash interview last night has indicated who will receive the brunt of fans' anger on Saturday, but Dario is also at fault in some ways and I personally believe he wouldn't have the stomach for the non-league when cuts to the Academy are inevitable. Bowler will step down once Hassall leaves though that I'm certain about, I think Bowler's personally wanted out for a few years but credit to the man despite his faults he doesn't want to leave whilst Hassall is still around.

It's abundantly clear Steve Davis is only motivated by one thing - His pay-off. Weirdly, I reckon Davis wants out of the club and has wanted so for ages, but in spite he just wants to get as much money for leaving as he can. He certainly comes across in that way too...

If the board ever give another rolling contract to one of our managers ever again they need throwing in the River Weaver. This situation could have been avoided 12 months ago.

I do think Dario will remain here till the day he dies whatever the league, and he will try to make the youth system work wherever we are. The problem is, it is a dead weight around our necks. If we go out of the league, I still see the youth system taking precedent over promotion back into the league. That said, I think the club are actually oblivious to the chance of us getting relegated next season. I think they're so wrapped up in the "unique club" guff that they think we're immune to it. In fact, I wonder if they realise re-election was ever scrapped?

I genuinely believe though we will be lucky to be a League club in 12 months time unless personnel changes this summer and no later. It would be ideal for Bowler to bow out if Hassall leaves this summer (apparently likely according to forum?), Davis to be shown the door and a new chairman to appoint. Obviously no revolution as the directors are largely cut from the same cloth but say Grant takes Chairmanship, I think he'd be more likely to appoint someone other than James fucking Collins.

Anyway, my hopes are getting up that Davis may be gone by Monday morning. If this protest happens as expected I'm actually optimistic the club will take notice.

The protest will happen. I had my doubts originally but it's gained a lot of momentum after the humiliation we endured at Vale. They took notice when the crowd wanted Holland out so they'll surely have to do the same here especially with ST renewals on the horizon. If nothing is done the status quo remains. Therefore, we as fans have to kick up a fuss about it.

Charles Grant will take this club forward once Hassall is removed and Bowler steps down, says a lot when a sponsor such as Ed Whitby, who is largely critical of Hassall and Davis has a lot of faith in him. Might be tough at first but I believe he will take this club forward. I've heard from a personal friend of Grant that he's very much one of those on the board that think Davis should have had his P45 a very long time ago.

Same fan come October will be saying "it's too early in the season, give Davis a chance". Come May, "give Davis a chance to get us back in the football league". Come October 2017, "it's too early in the season...". Etc. Etc. You get the point.

I posted last May how much last summer was mimicking the previous two summers (and fans were buying it). Note Davis' comments about "better recruitment" today. I've never seen anything like it. The official site could literally run the exact same stories from the last three years and save Davis/Collins/Baker time.

I do know the identity of that fan and I wonder whether or not he's related to Davis, or if he is a serial wind up merchant or he genuinely believes everything he says. I do agree with what you've said though entirely. A fair few fans were very quick today to post the 'recruitment has to be better' stories from last May up after Davis mentioned the very same again today.

Ever since the 2013-14 season ended the two seasons since have just felt like the exact same with this one feeling even more miserable. I want us to get out of this mimicry and that will only happen if we sack Davis. The other problems within the club can wait.

Another fans forum announced. Yawn.

Cynic in me would say it's nothing more than an exercise to try and quell the protest, in a "let's wait and see what they say" way.

Otherwise, what's changed since the last one at this dour club of ours? Hassall,? Well we were told about that at the last forum.

And why on a Thursday again? Put it on in place of that end of season awards debacle.

The apostrophe in this thread's title confuses me. It works but needs some abstract thinking....

Completely unimpressed about this prospect next year. Yet another bleak northern team to get 0 points off. The train ticket price alone is making me depressed. Oh well at least we don't have to go to Accrington again.

Imagine being Northern and having much more bleak, depressing southern places to go to - you guys have got it lucky

You haven't even played us since 1991 so surely the new ground factor would change that? Least it's a quick walk to the station and besides, if Davis is still here or you play us on opening day, you've probably won it!

As long as Morecambe keep Jim Bentley, Newport keep Feeney and Stevenage keep being Stevenage, Crewe will be fine.

Not to mention Notts County being a complete basket case of a club as well.

Morecambe are the masters of lower mid-table shithousery, they start a season well then turn average in the middle before having a disastrous end. However I reckon with their Chairman wanting to call it quits they'll be down there net season.

Even with Crewe, Blackpool, Doncaster, Grimsby or Tranmere all potentially coming, it's still a very southern division next season. The southerners have probably never had it so good this season geographically in any division.

All cyclical. When we were first in this division in 91/92, the only southern teams were us, Maidstone, Gillingham and Aldershot with Hereford and Northampton being the next nearest clubs!

Did some fact checking...

Boreham Wood vs Chelt - attendance 647 (313 away)
Forest Green vs Chelt - attendance 3127 (862 away)
Welling vs Chelt - attendance 604 (couldn't find the away figure)

I call BS! :bdick:

You'd regularly have that in the conference though - these are some the season we went up

Hyde 675 (341 Mansfield fans)
Tamworth 1968 (1172 Mansfield fans)
Braintree 1655 (1250 Mansfield fans)
Alfreton 1537 (786 Mansfield fans - which in itself was a shocking following).

That's not a case of how we took loads, we were chasing promotion, but it was easy to outnumber away fans down there in some games
