I watched most of the game earlier, I think if anybody did edge it was Mansfield but a draw was fair.

Apperantly Bennett was injured, but I find it stupid Evans is instantly putting Diamond and Murfin above him and Pearce, they were class last season.

Didn't see Roses but yeah Byroms was pretty cynical difference being another 4 lads behing Byrom and nobody behind Raynes.

Not a pop at your guys but at least our lads had the decency to kick in their fouls Raynes just mauled him.

Thought your centre back Walker and two very tidy midfielders. Dagnall and Porter speak for themselves.

Bit of an oxymoron saying someone has decency to foul someone!

Nah not moaning about it though, about time we had a few lads who started kicking lumps out of the opposition. Pisses me off when some of our fans whinge about other teams kicking lumps out of our lot expecting the referee to protect our kids. It's a man's game ffs. Sometimes you have to play your fellow league opposition at their own game and wise up to it.

I'd rather a side that was more physical and gave sides a bit of a kicking than a bunch of pansies eho got kicked off the park and were a bunch of pansies

Very entertaining game in the end. We were very poor first half.

Mirfin had a shocker, didn't win any aerial battles all game, and Angol was like teflon, played like a division 10 Sunday League player.

Evans clearly gave them a rocket up their arses at Half-Time and we came out firing in the second half, had a few chances and then got the well deserved equaliser. We continued to put the pressure on, then Crewe scored another against the run of play....another cross into the box and Mirfin lost out yet again.....fantastic header from Porter.

I expected the heads to drop but we continued to push forwards and eventually we got the equaliser through Mirfin, who was seriously the worst player on the pitch for me so I forgave him (a little)

Crewe then had the best of the latter stages of the game and could have won it themselves, and I was surprised they didn't with our abysmal ability to defend our own box.

Crewe looked a very tidy team, if they can keep players fit, I have no doubting they'll be up there. The lad who looked about 12 in centre midfield was the epitomy of what you expect from a Crewe academy graduate, confident, technically gifted, never gives the ball away and puts the graft in.

Porter and Dagnall will cause problems for every defender in this league, and the left winger has got a great delivery on him. You can't underestimate a hard working Bowery to come on against tired legs too, he's definitely more of a unit than he was in his Chesterfield days! He's proper bulked up!

For us, Bennett and Pearce should have been watching that in disbelief that they've not kept their shirts after faultless performances since Evans has arrived.
Mirfin and Diamond come with great reputations, experience, and no doubt pay packets too....but for me they aren't showing anything that puts them above last season's perfomers yet.

Oh and Logan scares the life out of me with his indecisiveness when it comes to coming off of his line. Olejnik is way better. Logan makes it look like jumping off of the ground requires twice as much effort than an average keeper too. He's still a proper chunk.

If the game had finished 5-5 it wouldn't have been a shock.
Overall a draw was a fair result.

Crewe will shock a few this season, especially at home. Think we'll see this as a good point over the course of the season.

Couldn't make the game as I had to go a christening. But Porter's goals were great, 2 very unlike Crewe goals. I mean one came from a corner, I don't think I can remember the last time we scored from a corner. Also Coopers delivery looked very good especially for the 2nd goal.

All in all a decent start and point, hopefully we can kick on with another two home league games to come against what should be weaker opposition.

A really enjoyable opener. Because Mansfield had been heavily tipped to win the title and the hype (for league 2 standards) this created I was worried this match would be a massive anti climax, like when we played the Vale at home 1st match a couple of seasons ago.

It was anything but an anti climax, I am sure Mansfield will play better but I think you could see they had some quality in the signings they have made, and I think you can see we will have a much better season, as for the 1st time in ages we have players who actually speak to each other and cajole each other during the match, and we have a manager who will stand his ground (him and Kenny fucking hammered that fat prick Evans during the 90 minutes) and who is not afraid to try and win a match. Davies would have taken Porter off at 2-2 and thrown another defender or defensive midfielder on to try and cling on for a point, which then would have meant we would have an extra body in or around our own 18 yard box getting in the way of the other defenders which would ultimately result in some stupid error and seen Mansfield score the winner in the 87th minute.

The way we finished the match was very encouraging, Mansfield were on the ropes and it was minor miracle how we didn't score the winner, though to be honest 2-2 was the correct result on the balance of play.

I am sure Mansfield will be top 3, but I don't think we will be far behind, if we could just add a couple more players to the squad I would be convinced we would be top 3 ourselves.

Lol. I'm sure no-one would be offended.

Just annoys me sometimes when you see really good passing sides - irrelevant in the league - who are just a bit soft and get bullied and don't reach their pull potential

Diamond and Mirfin were class last season.... in the division above. People are being way too harsh on them. Diamond had a good game, Mirfin wasn't disastrous but will get better.

Bennett and Pearce were class TOGETHER for us.

It's a pairing.

Got to agree, Pearce and Bennett were head and shoulders ahead of the rest of the team last season. The fact that they could be so consistent and solid for an entire season, yet both be replaced, makes as mockery of the ideal: play well, keep the shirt.

Both lads should feel very disappointed with the situation.
