Doncaster are the best side I've seen us play this season. To be fair barring half an hour of sloppy play in the first half, we were very good the other night at Donny. That's what was frustrating me in the first half today, we were so poor compared to other night, but wins a win and 7 points this week is a superb return.

Just had a look at our forum. You'd think we were in the position Newport are in judging from the level of positivity on there.

This is why we have crap attendances. I think about 75% of Carlisle fans are waiting for us to reach the Champion's League final before they quit moaning and decide the club are worthy of their attendance.

There may have been plenty in the performance for HG to moan about.

I know he's a proper buzz kill isn't he, we've set a new club record for an unbeaten start, won by more than 1 goal which is a rarity, we kept a clean sheet and we have moved up into the top 3.

However, if anyone can find a negative out of it all to bring up, it's Gregory.

I'm not being negative, I'm simply stating the fact that despite winning we played shit and created fuck all other than from set pieces.

The scoreline flattered us somewhat but there's more than one way to win a game and since we've struggled to win pretty, why not win ugly with two scrappy goals from corners? Scoring scrappy goals is what Jason Kennedy was born for so I'm glad he was on the pitch.

There may have been plenty in the performance for HG to moan about but we are showing a lot of resilience this season, stuff just seems to come off for us, we're always likely to score and we soak up a lot of pressure, so statistically we are likely to come out on top of these difficult niggly encounters.

Also, to be fair I think Colchester are a very good side, the best performance I've seen from an opposition myself this season. I thought Brindley, Guthrie and Fosu Henry were all outstanding today and didn't deserve to go down 2-0, but them's the breaks. It was a fairly dull game between two decent passing sides but with little incision, in which the luck fell kindly to us twice and not to Colchester. Colchester will probably be disappointed with some woeful finishing though, how Szomidics put what should have been the equaliser over the bar will forever remain a mystery. It reminded me of some of our own games, particularly early on where we put together some really impressive attacks and then totally failed to apply the end product.

I wasn't there and can only go from listening on BBC Essex, but the general consensus on the radio was that it was a decent enough game in contrary to opinion on here. They also felt that Carlisle looked good and are likely to be up there challenging for even the top three perhaps and that we were half decent for spells.

At Crawley in midweek they were bemoaning a snooze fest of tippy tappy passing and no incisiveness from either side, whereas today there were far more chances and attacking intent from both. We just have to beat Newport at home next week as I don't fancy much from Doncaster and Plymouth away.

What?

Err when you simply state that we 'played shit' and 'created fuck all', that can be seen as being negative.

Look, just enjoy the fact that we won a game 2-0.

You always look for the negatives in my posts, there are positives as well. I state facts of the game. The facts are we didn't play well, but we won 2-0. Some would call winning when you play bad a positive.

Where was he when the ball came in? Looking from where his feet are in the first frame, if that's how far the ball was in front of him then a diving header would be the only option.
Disagree. Unless you're caught completely flat footed, the ball is well close enough to get your feet to it. Diving header is the hardest option when the ball is that close and low.

Just watched back the highlights and he's surely got to hit that with his foot. I'm pretty certain they had a similar opportunity which their player header over when through on goal.

I have just had a look and noticed that this time last season we had the same amount of points as we do now 19 after beating Stevenage 1-0 away. Yet we were down in 8th place and Plymouth were top with 23 points and Northampton were behind us in 9th on 18 points.

So far it looks like this league is not as hard as it was last season.
