I haven't time to go back to the last CUFC post and see how the league table stands, but I know we're top and will take the title if we can beat Cambridge.

Otherwise, this is a game between two teams on the fringes of battles at opposite ends of the table. A win for Carlisle could put us back into the midst of the playoff race, anything else could signal the end of any meaningful promotion ambitions. Defeat for Cambridge could feasibly leave them closer to what currently looks like a three-way relegation scrap; though five points and a game in hand over a free-falling Yeovil team who take on MK Dons today means their position isn't as perilous as it looks.

Probably a fair result, really open game, I hope we don't rue that miss at the end though, what a miss :(

Pressley needs to fuck off. He’s taken over a team with momentum and heading towards the top 3 positions and turned them into a team that wouldn’t look out of place in the relegation thread.

Shoddy I know you think I’m being harsh on him, but how bad do the results have to get before you start to think he might not be very good.

I hope he can turn things round in the remaining 7 games, but looking at the fixtures and our results over the previous 9 games I can’t see it.

I listened to it on radio cambs. Our commentator said that Carlisle played like relegation candidates, and that United should have won with four one on ones with the goalkeeper.
Thats saying something considering our time wasters.

Can't really say. I know dropping away from the promotion race isn't good, and we aren't playing well but given that earlier on in the season we were lauding Sheridan for keeping us clear of relegation after a disastrous summer I'm giving Pressley much more leeway.

In my view, Sheridan was getting the absolute maximum it was possible to get out of this squad in December, and that was after going the whole of September and October without a single home goal.

When Pressley came in, we had lost three key members of Sheridan's first team, you can't expect a manager coming into that squad to come anywhere near the performance as a predecessor whose squad was three players stronger and who had assembled that squad himself over summer, and as I say, it took Sheridan three months to start getting that sort of form out of them, we'd been really poor at times before that. When Sheridan left, I thought the most we could hope for was to qualify for the playoffs, which Pressley might still do, and if he does then he's done very well.

• Constantly playing Devitt (our best player) out of position. He’s still producing from the “false 9” position but no where near as natural as he is in his number 10 position that he was playing.

• Constantly ignoring the glaringly obvious weaknesses in our midfield and refusing to change it despite it being dominated every single match.

• Our players blowing out of their arses after 75 minutes every match. Either he has signed the most unfit set of players in January or the training is shit.

• The striker situation. To finish January with only 1 crocked striker (Cullen) is criminal. Im not counting Simpson cos he clearly isnt part of the plans. The blame can probably be shared between Holdsworth and Pressley for this one.

• His bizarre substitutions and formations.

• 1 win in the last 9 games.

These are some of the reasons I think Pressley is shit. Despite the lack of strikers and the 3 January departure I think there is enough quality and ability there left over from Sheridan and brought in in January for a half competent manager to have kept us in the playoffs. Someone who can recognise players strengths and play to them. All he had to do really was have us in bang average Mid table form and we’d be still in. Pressley clearly isn’t up to it.
