Bury were utter bollocks against Bolton the other week, zero plan B. Just constantly lumped it up to an isolated James Vaughan who was up against two absolute monsters in Wheater and Beevers even though it was clear they were going to lap it up all day long.

I'd have sacked him purely based on that.

In fairness to Bury fans, if your team had just lost 8 in a row and then been humiliated in the cup, you'd all be wanting the manager sacked - it's the way of the world nowadays.

Vale fans definitely would. If a Vale manager blinks in the wrong way, there are calls for his head

Inevitable in the climate we live in and (almost) every other football club in the country would have done the same with their manager after a run like this. The biggest certainty in this world is a football manager will be sacked sooner or later no matter as good he has been in the past

Oh yes, if it was your team that had been on a run like this and headed for relegation would you have been happy for the club to do nothing and let the decline continue ?

Think this had to happen to be honest, Bury can't afford t stick around in this league with the money they are currently spending/losing. They are gambling on the championship and I think it's pretty clear they were starting to head in the wrong direction under flitcroft.

Football, Football, really sad to see Flicker go. My opinion he was to loyal to Futcher. Players he brought in have let him down. Players he had when he arrived, Cameron, Jones, Soares, Mayor to name 4 are still regulars and still as good or better than has been signed. He has signed a lot of shite, got rid of players especially Clarke to Oldham. Like the guy. Good luck Flicker

Should have kept Flitcroft, you were only 3-0 down at half time on Tuesday.

If we don't get relegated it'll be an absolute miracle.

Late to this debate, but have to comment. Firstly are some fans on this forum for real trying to tell us Flitcroft didn't deserve to be sacked ?
I don't think I would question any club who sacks a manager after 10 defeats in 11, and that is without considering the last 12 months that we have had. Doubt any other fans have bothered to take into account the drubbings, the pathetic derby defeats, the away record, the lack of cover in the team, goalkeeper roulette, positions in the team neglected whilst other positions have been over compensated leaving a stupidly unbalanced squad, the mass spending and losses to finish 16th in league one, negative tactics, especially at home, players played out of position, insults to fans, the stupid, endless injuries. Ryan Lowe even said in an interview this week that the training was causing injuries, there have also been numerous stories of players being frozen out after fallings out with management. Yes we had a good September but it has been awful since, and lets be honest August wasn't great either.
It is November and we are looking at a tough relegation fight, oh we are also out of three cups at the first hurdle, that having surrendered a 2 goal lead in the first round of the FA Cup then getting battered in the replay.
Yes we are a lower league club arguably at the right level hopping between leagues one and two. However the fact is our chairman has backed this manager to the hilt, gambling vast sums of money on big name signings and talking of the championship. To finish 16th last season when you look at Burton, Dale and a few others of a similar ilk to Bury, it was a disgrace. Let us not forget, as late as April we were in serious danger still of being relegated.
Genuinely doubt many other fans taking the morale high ground in this would still be supporting said manager after 8 straight league defeats, let alone 11 in 12 in all comps, especially when you consider that two of them were derby defeats in the space of a week and that is without considering the previous 12 months mentioned.
For the record when we were last at this level alot of fans backed Barker even during a very long, poor run of results between January and March. Flitcroft brought this sacking on himself and anyone who looks at the last 12 months will see he has been backed despite more than warranting a sacking, huge pity he was given this long.

If that is the case then so was Preston's decision to sack the following managers- Craig Brown, Alan Irvine, Paul Simpson and Darren Ferguson. Medal winner I'll give you, that one was justified.

On the short list for the Bury job. Interviewed on Saturday. Hope bloody not, he's not worked anywhere for ages. Forgot to add his name. Andy Thorne.

No idea who's on the short list but Russel Slade would be a good appointment for a club like us.

Possibly a Bolton fan on a wind up?
No, one of the guys who posted it I know quite well, he heard it from someone else though who claimed to hear it from the Horse's mouth. As ever it seems like a ridiculous case of Chinese Whispers, however I wasn't in the slightest bit surprised when I saw the post and that won't change. It may not have happened today but I am resigned to it happening in the future and there are a lot of Bury fans who think/worry the same way.

I'll be very surprised if it doesn't happen before August next year. It'll be interesting to see what happens in January! Whether we sell players or are able to buy players to give us a fighting chance.

From Bury fans who post on here, the MB and who I talk to there must be about 3 (all people from the MB) who seem to genuinely trust Day and the board.
They have basically failed and lied in everything that they have said and pledged from day one.
New ground, don't make me fucking laugh, about as likely to happen as us getting a new manager. I feel ten times more disillusioned and apathetic now than I ever did in 2012/2013 with Fenton and Co.

Sell players? I presume you mean youth team players coz no bugger in their right minds would pay for our first team players!!

Surely if you've got money troubles the last thing you need to be doing is paying up a manager?!
