It was a piss-take #bantz at JJ who was very vocal in wanting to hold out till the summer to get Pearson. Didn't think you had a chance then and with Derby in for him certainly dont think you would have.
Ah, fair enough, I'm not sure we were ever in for him TBH, more likely the supporters 'wish list'.
All the best for next season, time you got out of that league. Far too big to be down there much longer.

Yeah I dont think it ever seemed more than just fans suggesting it.

Thanks, look forward to getting 6 points off rovers anyway ;) hope you have a good season too. Really rate Johnson as a manager.

Aye, I was but in hindsight we wouldn't have been able to compete with Derby for Pearson anyway.

Still not sure on LJ, but we'll see how he does.

Pearson has proved he can win the Championship but he will still be hard-pushed to get a top two place next season with Newcastle and Norwich my favourites for the automatics (maybe Villa will get their act together as well).

I've read that because of FFP, Mel Morris will NOT be able to give Pearson as big a transfer warchest as Clement had last summer....so I think it will be a play-off place again for the Rams maybe in 3rd as in 2014.

According to some forest fans, we only gave Pearson the job to stop him becoming their manager!!!

They're hilarious. On their main forum he's been their top choice for weeks, led the poll by a good margin.

Now he's shit, didn't want him, got someone better lined up, he's only come to Derby as we offered more money etc etc.

Football fans eh!

I doubt any rational Forest fan would think at this moment in time Forest are a better prospect for a manager than Derby.

Away from the tedious arguments of trophies and attendance, it's undisputable that Derby currently have the greater infrastructure, greater chance of promotion next season and the better squad. I'd also hazard a guess that financially, we're stronger.

The Forest job is ridiculously tough, in fact, I'd say it's possibly one of the hardest in the division. At the moment, they barely have the numbers to make up a senior first team squad, with some players who are prone to missing months at a time. I'd say despite that, Forest fans will be eager to see their side promoted next season. It's a big & tough job for whoever goes to the City Ground.

As for Pearson and Powell at Derby, I think it's the most sensible, likely choice out of all the candidates. Clement was a huge gamble, he talked the talk and had a glowing reputation but started to undo McClaren's good work. Wassall came in and stopped the rot, so to speak, and got us playing decent football again. Ultimately, however, he was just too naive and inexperienced in certain situations.

I'd be surprised if we aren't top six next season, I just don't expect any surprises. I certainly don't expect to see a 3-3 draw with Rotherham next season!!

Sounds like Pearson was hoping for the Villa job until he learned that it was almost certain to go to Di Matteo.

Villa & Derby could well be battling for 2nd spot behind Newcastle next season.
