Leeds is notorious for having a lot of fake homeless, the genuine homeless I feel for, the ones begging for drug and drink money I don't

People with addictions need to be felt for too, they are humans too.

How can you tell the difference between a fake one and a genuine one anyway?

Wasn't even fishing. It's pretty common knowledge that the conservatives have been bad for the homeless. If you legitimately care about the issue, or profess to care, you have to factor it into your vote. Not pathetic at all, pathetic is divorcing a massive social issue from the politics that are meant to be used as a means to resolve social issues yet often instead exacerbate these issues. Simply to appear non partisan. Ultimately it will take more than charity to improve the homeless situation in any country.

I agree with part of what you say but regards the part which I have highlighted, if that is the case then it should be discussed in the forum that covers political issues & that is the point I was making. The issues may be interlinked to a degree but can be discussed separately as in how Carver named & started the thread. The last line in your initial post was quite clearly fishing due to earlier comments made by me.

Any discussion of the homeless situation that is devoid of politics is pretty pointless/unproductive. It was always going to come up. I wasn't fishing, I was merely pointing out that the situation goes hand in hand with government policy. I honestly forgot what member even made the remark about politics. We don't have to keep conversations confined to their exact domain, issues are multifaceted and conversations evolve. If people care about the homeless, they should be looking for the causes of the problem and the ways they can help. Unfortunately, that includes politics.

Never been homeless but always just a pay packet away from it I suppose.

One homeless man asked me for a pound for the bus and I said is it really for the bus or for booze? He admitted it was for booze so I just invited him round mine and we got hammered.

That didn't really happen did it, did you just make that one up?

Because if it's true then it's no wonder you're just one pay packet away from being homeless.

There's this cute homeless lass in my town who I'd love to take home with me but it isn't worth the risk and trouble that could come from it.

Fair enough. I'm not so devoid of grey matter that I don't understand that. However (apologies for harping on about this), if it is so obvious that politics is going to enter the debate at some point I'd have preferred that the thread be contained within the politics forum as it's a personal point of view that I cannot be arsed with 'political' discussion and have deliberately kept out of that particular forum save the 'Scottish Independence' thread for obvious reasons.

A soi disant friend of mine works at a homeless shelter and recently helped himself to a nice coat that was donated. I don't mind tho as he walks to and from work every day, which is quite a few miles, so I reckon he was welcome to this little bonus. I mean it would have only gone to a soi disant homeless person tbf.
