Actually, I just realise you said Indeed to Southbank and not Cheese and Biscuits, so I take that back.

Totally depends. I've hired the helping hand in the past to clean up after hosting parties while the missus is away, but even then it's only because I'm still smashed and she'd be home in a few hours.

Other than that we (the missus) stays on top of it. And she works full time too.

As other posts have alluded to, I value my free time more than I do the sake of £20/week for a cleaner to keep on top of everything. If you can afford to do it, why not? We keep our house in pretty good nick but things like hoovering, dusting, cleaning bathroom etc I would much much prefer to pay out (lets face it, it's nothing) than do it myself. Personal preference and all, admittedly.

We don't have a cleaner, despite having money to pay for one. I think it's out of misplaced working class guilt. I don't really enjoy being served in cafes or restaurants really either.

Subsequently, our house is normally quite messy. But just about clean.

If a cleaner's hourly rate is lower than your own then surely it's good financial sense to do it. Time is more important than money, surely?

Unless you never buy ready meals and always cook meals from scratch etc.

Cheese and Biscuits has a cleaner cos he's on 150k a year with his high flying city job. It's all hookers and charlie for him normally. Hasn't got time to scrub the grouting.

I had to re-read this several times to see if you'd mentioned Wales. For such a lengthy post I would have thought you'd be able to fit it in Some where. #TogetherStronger

I don't have a cleaner, but I've used a Polish car wash before, at least I assume it was Polish, could have been Latvian, Lithuanian, Romanian or Albanian though.

I think that's the key for me. I could afford it but, even setting aside my reservation regarding privacy, I resent paying money for something that can be quickly and easily done by anyone. It's for this exact reason I own a pressure washer and save £15 a time washing my own car rather than take it to the local Polish car wash.

That must be the most expensive Eastern European car wash in the country.

We have a full size MPV, they're always more expensive. And it includes the inside. A mini valet if you like.

I'm surprised how many people here have one. I'm not house proud at all but like it to be surface clean so just clean it as I go. On a Sunday when I'm not doing anything I'll just spray the bathroom, play a match on FM, come back and whipe it down. Easy done.

I do live in a single floor flat though so maybe it's easier but even when we were in a house it didn't cross my mind.

Can't remember the last time we dusted mind.

You can get a cleaner in HK quite cheap - £35 a month, for a morning a week. Makes my (already easy) life, a lot easier.

A lot of people here have live-in-maids which I can't get my head round. Would feel distinctly uncomfortable having a stranger roaming around my tiny apartment 24/7.

*150k post tax.
Wow, what is it you do C&B if you don't mind me asking?

I think a few of the posts in here have convinced me even more that we should hire one. Even if it's just to scrub and clean the bathrooms, what a yucky job

Myself and my fiancee have a cleaner come in once every two weeks.

To my mind, there's a difference between cleaning and tidying. We're happy to keep the house tidy as we go along, but when it comes to actually cleaning it [dusting, hovering, bleaching toilets etc] we just can't be bothered. When we first bought our house we were dedicating Saturday mornings to cleaning, and I just didn't want to waste time on my weekend when we don't get very much free time together as it is. We realised we could comfortably afford the cleaner, so why not?

What exactly do you do in your "free time" then cha, seems to me you must just sit around in your boxers a lot watching TV?

We do watch a fair bit of TV, but it's usually on in the background whilst we do work, particularly during the week. I like to wear trousers though.

On weekends we tend to go out on Saturdays, visit family, go shopping, go for walks etc. On Sundays, we work.
