Exeter vs Carlisle..

I'm predicting both teams to score but us to come out healthy winners 3-1 to city. Stockley x2 and a goal for Homer Simpson.

Carlisle on some good form but havent exactly been tested in this good spell atm, last time they faced good opponents was Wycombe & County and they lost both of them... think we have too much quality for them to deal with.

I'd take a draw from this game. It might result in us dropping back to 5 or more points from the playoffs once games in hand are played but in terms of keeping the positivity going it would be a good enough result. A win would be fantastic.

By many accounts we were much the better team against Wycombe, our keeper made a couple of uncharacteristic mistakes as our focus went in injury time, and but for that would have been a deserved win.

Any team that Yeovil can beat 3-1 surely can't be a million miles ahead of us in terms of quality.

Did Wycombe not have 10 men for half the match, twice the amount of shots on goal, more off target as well, plus more possession? Is your view of the game slightly biassed and put simply, wrong?

Touch a nerve? Wycombe took more shots than us therefore dominated us, I wasn't there but a lot of reports said we looked on course for a deserved win until injury time. Having taken on board your input though I have revised my assessment that this could be a relatively even encounter and now believe this will be like Hyde FC v Barcelona. I'd put your money on a 23-1 win for Exeter (since you did at least concede that we might score).

Comfortable win for Exeter. We are still a really poor team with not much creativity or attacking threat. We are solid enough to scrape wins against the lower teams, but any time we come up against a half decent team we fall woefully short. Story of our season.

3-0 to Exeter

We may be a bit rusty after a few weeks off. Might be injury free but Carlisle will be desperate to get something from this game or their season could be nearly over.

1-1.

I'd take a point just to keep us within reach with some more winnable games to follow, can't see this being as open and entertaining as the games last season, 1-0 either way or 0-0/1-1 I reckon.

This is the kind of game we lose.

0-3

Tisdale to play 5-4-1 with Simpson up front and a center midfield consisting of tilson and archibald-henville. FML.

I fancy us to win this one. Our home form is great and we have a full squad aside from Wilson. I note Carlisle have 4 wins on the bounce but as others have commented on their form against the higher teams has been poor this season. A hard fought 2-0 on a heavy pitch and lots of long balls

Sadly right. A terrible game which we didn't deserve to win and Carlisle probably didn't either. Not helped by two players limping off in the first half hour but we showed no real intent and looked clueless at times. I don't get why we are so poor at home .we aren't going up but I honestly can't see Carlisle getting to the playoffs either

Good result. More than I expected.

Our failure to beat teams in the top half will still be the reason we fall short of top 7. But a point at Exeter is a step in the right direction ahead of hopefully a much improved 18/19 season.

Neither can i. We’re a really average team, good enough to beat the shite down the bottom but not good enough to overcome the gulf between us and the teams above us.

We actually got into the playoffs last season with a worse team, it was relegation standard in the second half of last season. This team is better defensively, but unfortunately no where near good enough at the other end, it’s been the same all season. 10th - 12th is about where we’ll finish imo.

Didn't go today but really doesn't sound like I missed much. JMT and Holmes getting injured in the 1st half is a real worry, especially with the former potentially out as we really don't look the same team without him. Fingers crossed it's nothing serious.

A point wasn't the worst result in the world but we really need to be looking at a win versus Yeovil on Tuesday.

We are too crap in midfield to go up.

We need a decent striker to pair with stockley and 2 new creative center midfielders.

Can't rule anything out at this stage of the season. We've underperformed up front all season long, and I think we'd be well ensconced within the playoffs had we kept one or both of Jabo or Wyke. Had we also not been missing Kennedy and Adams for almost the whole season and O'Sullivan and Etuhu for the majority of it we could well be in an automatic promotion place.

However as long as we continue to be difficult to beat and take three points off teams that we 'should' take three points from (however they come) then we have a good chance. It's neither here nor there whether Exeter are better than us as we don't need to overhaul Exeter, overhauling the likes of Swindon, Cambridge and Lincoln will suffice.

We have nine games left with the exception of Luton, they're all either six-pointers against other playoff chasers, or they're against teams in the bottom half of the table. We might not be very clinical up front but at this stage we don't need to uncover another Charlie Wyke, we just need one of the strikers we have to go on a good run, and if they do then we're already creating the chances for them to put away. Bennett doesn't look like being that striker but you never know, I think Hope will continue to perform well without scoring a huge amount, but Nadesan or Stockton are yet to really find their feet and either of them could go on a run, or even Danny Grainger could come back and score a few, or Reggie Lambe or John O'Sullivan. We just need someone to carry us over the last nine games and then see what happens.

Just to say it was refreshing yesterday to see an away team going for three points. When the third sub was made, Bennett sprinted off rather than take ages like other teams (Wycombe) generally do in the same situation. I know it was a mistake that gifted Carlisle the goal, but it would have been a travesty had we got three points.
