Long term gains.
Tbf Connor Ripley's so good I'm surprised he hasn't taken all 11 spots.

Thank you!! I didn't want to have to be the one to say it, but you've got it spot on there.

Manager of the season too?

Disappointed that he's been snubbed for Championship team of the season, merely due to him not playing in it.

All joking aside, I know this is done early but maybe someone else has had a more consistent season than Josh Morris ? Started on fire but seems to have dropped off since new year.

Wouldn't mind us re-signing Conor McLaughlin.

I think it'll be interesting to see the PFA one. Fleck and Sharp are worthy by all accounts. Coutts, Freeman and maybe O'Connell can feel slightly hard done by though.

19 goals and 9 assists from a wide position, can't really be overlooked. No surprise that Scunthorpe's form has slumped as soon as Morris' has.

No real standout players for us so not surprised at all to see none of our players in here but if Ryan Leonard could improve his distribution he would be contending.

Gregory doesn't deserve to be in that team. Morison has been our best player by a country mile but then he's a quote unquote forward rather than a striker in the conventional sense. Not been a season for outstanding individual players though.

Not sure Meredith will even win our POTY but he's a class act, certainly lower end Championship standard with how much he gets up and down a game. The fact he's the worlds most one footed player will always hamper him pushing on further than that though. How he doesn't have more international caps for Australia is beyond me.

Happy to see Fleck in there, was a huge fan when he was at cov. Hopefully makes the step up next season in the championship

That'd be a bloody fun team of the year for the rest of us.

Wheater was awful at ours but our journo said he voted for him! Some people just seem to be destined to get in. Meredith gets a lot of buzz because he's so attacking but as a pure left back I don't know if he's much better than anyone else and as LS says it's debateble he'll be in top 3 of our POTY. Cullen and Vincelot have been more influential then there's a few after that who've had decent spells. That said he's a good player and I'm pleased for him.

I would say Wheater and Beevers in that team are spot on, especially as we have the best defensive stats regarding goals conceded in this league

Even though he missed three months injured, Ricky Holmes is comfortably one of the best players in this division and can count himself unlucky to not be included.

The rest of our shower probably wouldn't get anywhere near the second team.

For me Mezza is top drawer I can't think of an opposition left back who has come close this season, when he was out we looked very lop sided his weakness of course is his right foot is only for standing on.

With regards to influential players, I think Marshall needs to be added to that. He terrifies defences and is regularly picked out by opposition fans, since Wyke came to the club his assists have started to go up a lot and he'd have two more if not for the inside of the post. Like Morais is doing at the minute creative players are really only as good as those they are supplying, I'd love to see how many Marshall would have had Wyke been here all season them two were made for each other. I see other fans have said their players are unlucky not to be in, add Marshall to the unlucky list.

McLaughlin had slow start for Fleetwood because quite frankly he didnt expect to be here after Euros with Northern Ireland, my opinion, but has shown great strength to fight back after that dissappointment. Absolutely solid.

Rolser is minimum a Championship manager at one of if not the smallest football league club. I doubt he will be with us next season. If we make the playoffs its a fantastic achievement, second a miracle.

Josh Morris at Fleetwood was ok and at Bradford probably worse, from my experience not a top player at this level but hes clearly found his feet at Scunthorpe so credit for improving himself, working at it.

So hard to judge other players given L1 isnt on TV every week and accept even my own opinion is through a very narrow prism.

For me they should wait till everybody has played there 46 games before announcing the team of the season.

I can only go on the 2 games where i have seen him.
Meredith is the best attacking left back easily, by a country mile.
Not sure on his defensive attributes as he wasn't called upon much by ourselves :conf:

Meredith's a good player but he stands out because of his marauding style of play and he gets a reputation around the press boxes. Hanson used to get touted as our best player because he was a big focal point and he was technically poor. As I said Wheater was poor in one of the two games Parker has seen him in, he also voted for Morris who did nowt against us except miss a sitter. Were they really the best he's seen all year? Or is he just picking the usual suspects based on reputation which renders the operation pointless, might as well have asked a bloke in the pub to name a team. Almost as pointless as this rant...

That's a cracking side but I'd definitely swap McLaughlin for Freeman. His goals return and impact on SU this season has been fantastic for a RB. Definitely one that has gone under the radar.

Greg Leigh from Bury was far and away the best left back I've seen this season, but no idea if that was a massive purple patch. He was superb.

He's been a revelation for the past couple of months, he's been moved from LB to LWB which suits him much better. Still a young lad and he's got plenty of time to improve.

Yes Conor McLaughlin is out of contract in June 2017.

Naturally there is an offer on the table from Fleetwood but I would amazed if he is with us next season.
