The problem with using the points to influence teams behaviour is that it kind of assumes this is a competitive tournament where all teams are trying to win.

Can't wait for this abomination to be scrapped.

Already told my club I'm not travelling to watch my team play a Premiership 3rd team. Also heard you get an extra point if you win a penalty shoot out. Surely you should have one deducted for not being good enough to win over 90 minutes? I no longer have any interest in this competition and would urge fans to boycott the games. That'll teach 'em.

To be fair you probs get points for largest hotdog, best fancy dress fans and cleanest toilets in this made up competition.

The real winners are all the sides that are actually the biggest teams in the country and refused to participate.

Any ideas from some teams on how many tickets are being sold for the opening games?

We have sold a very, very tiny number of tickets for our game against Wolves u21s next week.

Pleased to see there are going to be some record low attendances all over.

Hopefully no Wolves fans bother.

Should be very interesting in the away support thread, with teams claiming lower numbers than actually turn up!!

May even be a few zeros next week.

I saw a Portsmouth supporter trying to crowdfund for the fine they'd get for playing reserves.

I'd genuinely sooner pay the tenner towards that than buy a ticket to watch this shit.

Don't think that view as them teams will have their own agenda ready for the summer on what they demand to compete.

They want it, but it will be on their terms not ours, they didn't refuse for us lot.

Hense why it needs to die hard right now before those clubs are able to dictate the rules they want

Doesn't that still make them the real winners though?

Just realised we will have plenty of games with both teams already through or both teams already out by the last set of group fixtures! Imagine the crowds for them!

Maybe they've worked out those extra points for winning on penalties will result in less dead rubbers, hmmmm.

It does if enough lower league fans decide to put 'supporting club at all costs' on their priority over sensible thought for these games.

If the competition draws decent ok gates for the normal games, but poor ones for most B games apart from say Chelsea, Everton, West Ham.....then you can bet that your Man Utd, Man city and co will be dictating the negotiating tables come next summer as to what we all have to do to bring them in because they will make it all work and probably will mean no rules for them lot and tonnes for us.

of course if it draws horrendous crowds across the board.....clubs won't run the risk at all of massive losses in most of the games and should end it completely.

Money is being pumped in somewhere to try and make this work, clubs are suddenly throwing up some ridiculous deals for this competition i see many are doing £5 adult and £1 kid deals..........why i wonder are afew clubs happy to make massive losses here rather to keep their usual crowds.

Never thought I'd ever say this but delighted my club Chesterfield have only sold 275 tickets so far v Wolves kids. For those that go and watch this farce - essentially a practice game for the bigger clubs kids - it's possible that sometime in the future they could be saying, 'I remember when this game was part of a cup competition. Now it's a league game.' The danger is real. Boycott these games for the future of your club.

I've had confirmation that I wouldn't be included in the crowd figures as a volunteer steward. I could do my shift and then watch the match. I won't though - steward then head home. That way the club won't have to pay someone else to do my job.

All the games should be sub 1000.

None of the games should get any recognition whatsoever

Rules have just changed meaning suspensions from the league now don't count in this competition. Gutting as John joe o toole is the first player to reach 5 yellows in the country so will miss our televised game against mk on Sunday.

There is likely a sub 1000 crowd at the Ricoh for West Hams B team

Fair play, I hope its been easier convincing Cov fans not to go than it has been ours. Less than 500 sold as of yesterday but I wouldn't be surprised if the number doubled with POTD :ffs:

That will be shocking.
Let's be honest, you don't need a degree in psychology to work out that some football fans are really stupid.

It's true unfortunately. Maybe I'm being pessimistic but when the likes of Cov and Plymouth are expecting sub 1000 gates, then clubs like ourselves shouldn't even be contemplating the idea of getting near the 1000 mark. Fingers crossed its a 3-figure gate.
