Yeah, I'm Scottish mate...also British.....see absolutely no problem wanting to see other UK teams do well in these tournaments. Was the same a couple of years ago in the Euros. Would you rather see ABE win?
Yep I'm not a unionist (we all know why you are ;) ).

Haha Colombia it is! Getting battered there lads.

Imagine getting the runaround from Fellaini against Belgium's reserves. Embarrassing. Only Trent was any good for you lot.

You know that steven and G.B already bookmarked this post, right? You can't edit it anymore :D

Those remarks often bite you in the arse later (like mine when I wrote that I can't see Sweden score more than 1 against Mexico. Beelo mate already bookmarked it and it was served immediateley after they scored 3 :D )

*Our reserves got the runaround from Belgium’s reserves. Trent was poor - awful set pieces.

Called it before the game, no matter what team Belgium's shit manager put out we should have played our best 11. We'd have won that easily tonight and gone into the Japan game unbeaten and on a high. Now we play Columbia with a loss of momentum and that shitty performance inevitably effecting the mindset of the first team that did play tonight and who will play on Tuesday.

Shite decision from Southgate, and you could see players like Kane and Henderson sitting on the bench thinking the same.

Outdone by Bobby Brown shoes and Batshuai who can't even kick a ball into the net without hitting his own face. Oh dear.

Can't do this, Salty. It's an European team against a South American team. It's clear which team I want to win this one.

It's a shame Southgate is so loyal to his squad, it didn't have the feel of a very good evening for us considering how the reception has been after our previous two.

Obviously it's still coming home, just got to get past Colombia which will be a very tough task.

Happy to get out the group though, I'd have taken this par before the tournament.

Well, all in all that was appalling. Not a single player impressed, Vardy, Dier, Loftus-Cheek and Rashford were all stand out poor players tonight. We can safely say Belgium's reserves are better than ours.

Southgate has staked our tournament on the first team players coming back fit and fresh for the Colombia game. Fair enough. Beat them and this wasn't a bad decision. Lose that game and he looks like a mug. Not impressed with the changes and not impressed with any of the players that came in tonight.

Created and missed the best chance of the game, which is disappointing. As i said earlier im disappointed that we made quite so many changes.

Colombia it is then. Tough one, we'll need to be at our best.

Well. Dont get the negativity. We have qualifed from the group and are in a section of a the draw which gives a better chance of progressing. Yes Columbia are a good side but if we play to our potential we will beat them. They were poor v Japan and sneaked past Senegal.

I am happy with Southgate`s decison. I like how he lead the press down the path and has given some other squad members some game time

I am still confident and agree totally with Gary Neville.

I am negative because this has been one of the first times i've actually enjoyed watching England since maybe Euro 96.

numerous competitions and different conclusions.....out in groups, last 16, quarters or semi's it is normally with England playing a tedious dull as dishwater style with bland games that we scrape through until eventually going out to someone half decent.......then in recent times going out to sides we should beat.......didn't matter if playing a strong or weak side the games were normally a chore.

This comp at least seemed refreshing, energy, passion, workrate, worked hard on corners, find it a shame we ditched that tonight and went back to the plodding claptrap of old.......hopefully a one off, but i'd rather we just kept it going when for once in 20 odd years looking like a decent team to watch.

Well that played out exactly like what it was - a nothing game. There was no rhythm or flow from either team and the only bit of quality in the game, ended in a superb goal. I wouldn’t have rested so many, but I can understand why he did. Either way Southgate can’t win.. Key players play and get injured, people say why didn’t you rest them? He rests the players, we lose in the next game and people will say why did you rest them? Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. I think we can beat Colombia and Japan and I think we could lose to them as well, there’s no perfect route. If you’re going on to win this thing, you’ve got to beat the best. We deserved a draw and but for a superb Courtois save and a crucial Fellaini block, Rashford and/or Welbeck would have scored. We’re not a counter attacking team though, we’re a dominating possession team, playing neat little triangles and link up play around the box, that’s where we’re comfortable. Best player and only one to really push their claim for the main team was probably Rose, although he should have done better for the goal. Dull game with the highlight being Batshuayi’s humongous fail, classic.

There is no honour in making the semi finals if you haven't beaten anyone to get there. This better side of the draw talk reeks of cowardice - if you beat Brazil (anything can happen in a one off game) you've not only got your "moment" but the belief and momentum carrying into the next games could be awesome.

Poor against Japan? They had 10 men since the 4th minute and absolutely battered Poland.

Objectively, England were crap for 55 odd minutes versus Tunisia and any team worth their salt in a world cup environment should put Panama to the sword. They haven't played well. I've changed my mind on Colombia though - I do think England will blitz them before their dark art cunningness can come into play.

Don’t you feel any honour from Wales’ Euros then?

Bringing on Welbeck instead of Kane showed that we were more concerned with fitness than avoiding Colombia. We'll see if it pays off on Tuesday. Colombia looked great Poland but didn't impress me against Senegal earlier.

None of the players who started tonight will have given Southgate a headache regarding selection. It'll be the team that started against Tunisia, hopefully Alli is fit.

Fwiw resting players was the correct decision - they've had a long old season and recovery is crucial.

We beat Belgium :conf:
Who were painfully average. A team full of individuals and an underperforming Hazard. I think it was a great achievement for a team like Wales to get that far, but they lost to us and only beat Slovakia, Russia, Northern Ireland (just) and a poor Belgium side. Then got battered by Portugal. They had it easy really.
