Also known as Saint Juste's Day.

Will Saltire be able to contain himself?

Will MacZidane make another return?

Im going to my first England v Scotland game hoping we put a good performance and easy win but knowing England will make hard work of it regarding the result.

Atmosphere at Wembley is shit nowadays with more family orientated crowds but hoping it will be more hardcore crowd against Scotland given the rivalry, im sure the 14,000 jocks will make plenty of noise though.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for the Bravehearts. Hope they get at least a draw to keep their dream alive, qualifying for the playoffs as #2

Unfortunately I can't watch the match because at the same time there is the top match of this whole matchday:
San Marino vs Germany. According to epic73 the bloody Germans will get a hammering.

It'll sound more like a game at Hampden park with all the scot's. I have no idea what the result will be between 2 poor sides.

Fun fact about Longshanks btw, you lot still use his coat of arms and you call it the three lions, but they are actually fucking leopards. No wonder you lot can't tell your arse from your elbow. :D

Just a few days to go and only a few posts on here.
This is the sort of fixture that would have created some excitement in years gone by but I think international football is pretty much dead now

I only started the thread this afternoon!

Give Salty a few hours to get a few drams down him and we'll get this party started.

I read it often that the british (or here better english) supporters don't give a shit anymore about their team (at least at 1FF.net). Always high hopes due to good qualifying rounds but the team nearly always let them down during the tournament.
The England vs Scotland match is one with a big tradition although not much notice is taken in the rest of Europe about this fixture. I wouldn't say that we don't give a shit about it but it's nothing special for us.
But at least the UK footy fans should take an interest in it ;)

An unconvincing win for England - but a win's a win.

Er no, not really. We've had higher hopes in competitions following quite poor qualifiers than we do now.

Pretty much the same when you play the Netherlands I guess. Do you hate the Dutch as much as they hate you?
I like all the home nations and when they play other games I always want them to do well but when it's England there's irrational hatred from the home nations. I work in Scotland with (obviously) Scots, the Welsh and the Northern Irish and I've never seen anything like it when England are on, they fucking hate us.

Good point!
I don't hate anyone. Hate doesn't belong to football but I can't stand the Netherlands (in football), that's right. The rivalry between Germany and the Netherlands in Football was one of the fiercest which culminated in the 80's and hit its peak in WC 1990 with the Rijkaard incident. Thankfully the crowd troubles cooled down a bit (the Netherlands don't qualify for every tournament :D ) but on the field it's always a hard fought.

We even get the Netherlands matches live on free TV, the last one was the Netherlands vs France Qualifier match. I've checked the tv listings for friday, no mentioning of England vs Scotland live in free tv here. OK, Germany plays at the same time and although it's only against San Marino no Free TV channel would show another match at the same time live because the ratings would be too low (maybe Paytv Sky Germany I don't know)

If you say so.
I say so because it's true. After the 10 out of 10 in qualifying under Hodgson nobody believed we'd be doing anything in this tournament because we still looked shit and nobody was convinced by the team selection.
When we scraped qualification with that Beckham free kick equaliser against Greece people were far more optimistic because we had a very good selection of players to choose from and it was just a case of hoping we sorted ourselves out for tournament time.
The golden generation always had more expectation on it despite sometimes making a struggle of qualifying. Theres been no expectation under Hodgson which made up the last 3 tournaments.
So yeah, I fucking say so.

I am irritated here because I said in one of my previous post "If you say so" and thought that would be enough that I believe you. Why are you now putting the "So yeah, I fucking say so" behind? Wasn't the "if you say so" the right phrase? Should I put an OK before it?

You should have put "Fuck off JimJams you irritable c***".

That would have been acceptable.

That phrase is usually used in a sarcastic sense to imply you don't believe what they're saying but can't be arsed to argue any more.
