Last season Grimsby came away with all 3 points from SJP and James McKeown put in one of the best goal keeping performances we’ve seen in years, so I am hoping he won’t be in similar form this time around.

To make things even more enjoyable we have the fat tub of lard, Brett Huxtable refereeing the game and he is one of the most arrogant and incompetent referees going. Can’t wait.

Anyway onto the game, Grimsby seem to have started pretty well and they’ll pose us a threat. James Hanson is a big old unit and a good striker so Tom Parkes will have his hands full. I wonder if Grimsby playing at Chelsea tonight will go in our favour as they’ll be chasing the ball quite a bit?!

We need to keep the unbeaten run going for as long as possible. Hopefully we’ll keep an unchanged team which is working really well. Think we will edge this 2-0. Bowman and Martin on the scoresheet.

I'm hoping they get a result at Chelsea and are totally knackered by the time they hit God's own county at the weekend. Someone else might be able to confirm, but I read on social media that if we don't lose on saturday that is a record of competitive matches for us without a loss. 2-1 home win 5000 in attendance. Martin has scored 4 in the last 5, so fancy him to get another

I was wondering what the record is but didn’t want to check it up as that’s surely going to jinx it!!

We’re currently 13 league games unbeaten if you count the back end of last season but if we’re looking at all competitions it’s 9 games unbeaten...Didn’t we go 13 unbeaten in 16/17 when we shot from relegation fodder up to the play offs?

Don't care about meaningless cup games where we aren't even trying to win. League is the only thing which matters.

We equaled our record of 13 league games unbeaten at Newport so if we manage not to lose this weekend it'll be a new record.

Well you could be right about us being knackered, we were chasing shadows for most of the game and especially from 60 mins tonight, and with a long trip back and then another back down to Exeter.

Though could easily have been double figures if it wasn't for McKeown so let's hope for another repeat of his performances.

I hope that Matt Taylor drums it into our players that we mustn’t think it’s going to be a regulation win just because Grimsby have had a tough midweek game.

If I recall correctly, last season, you had a number of injuries including a teenager making his debut in defence and yet you still won! And you did that with playing 40 mins with 10 men. Nothing is a given at this level and I’m sure it will be a tough game for us.

Green and Hanson are good strikers plus players like Hessenthaler are decent.

Think Exeter will have too much for us personally. We struggle there each year (last season was a massive fluke) and we’re not great against the footballing sides (if that’s what Exeter are????). If we play 4 central midfielders again I might just explode.

Yeah we were absolutely shattered by the second half last night, that combined with us pushing forward and leaving gaps at the back, Chelsea could have genuinely scored 15 if not for some poor finishing and also some great saves by Macca. I don't think the loss will impact us mentally, in fact the opposite, but physically we are dead on our feet. The schedule has really caught up with us and it's another long trip before we finally get a week break.

1-0 away win.

I have two tickets in front of me and we leave tomorrow for the trip down to Devon, I'm knackered after the Chelsea game, so the players must be even worse off than me. Bumped into an old mate on the tube after the game yesterday, he's going down to Exeter too, as were a few others I spoke to in the ground, hopefully we'll have 300 or so supporting us.

I'd except a draw right now.

I'd snap your hand off for a point here. Exeter looking solid and once again like real promotion contenders. Last year was hilarious, we won't get that kind of luck again.

We are not the finished article by any means. I expect a closely fought encounter. Hopefully we can come through in the last ten minutes but we need to be focused before that. If we sneak a win I will be ecstatic, a draw wont be unexpected though

Strange selections up front with no Green or Hanson but not totally unexpected after Wednesday. Absolute bags of pace for us there but also bags of inexperience. Should be an interesting game, we'll be fully set up to counter attack.

We've named a strong side, the only change I would have had would have been Martin in defence rather than on the bench, but fair play to Parkes for keeping his place, he has been decent of late. 3 at the back and wing backs again. Strong bench as well. Can we create a new record today for games unbeaten in the league for us?. I hope we get a decent crowd cos they deserve it

Can see why he's done it players will be tired, and be interesting as we can't just hoof it to Hansons head. Lots of pace though and if Ogbu doesn't fall over his own legs will be good to see him knocking it to Rose and Wright.

Let's see whether it works or Exeter just too good.

Played well, amazing what we can do when we don't bypass the midfield. Cook has been everywhere, Wright causing problems like he always does. Rose needs new boots though, keeps falling over.

Exeter playing well too, can see why they are top, not too many clear cut chances for either side, but a good goal from a corner separates the two sides.

Grimsby playing well but we have been poor. Well taken goal, just a shame BH got the decision not to give us a free kick wrong and then allowed the corner to be taken without Collins on the pitch.
I suspect a few early subs second half

He didn't get it wrong, he gave you the advantage which you took and crossed into the box we then cleared and went up the other end and won the corner. Our player was then booked.

Not sure about winning the corner. Looked like Sweeney kicked it out so that Collins could get treatment.

Yeah but you were happy to play on when you had the advantage, if you'd scored from it with the cross, Collins would have quickly got up. Cant then complain when we play on after clearing the ball and win a corner. Should have kicked out for a throw if that's really what he was doing.

Weathered the Exeter storm for 15 mins then Wright wins a pen, everytime he has had the ball Exeter have brought him down only a matter of time before one was in the box.

Good pen from Ogbu.

Pleased so far especially having made 6 changes. Really promising to see Wright, Rose and Pollock starting and playing well.

Wouldn't say Rose did well to be honest.

Great third goal, Exeter now pushing forward leaving gaps, good run from Wright great cross to Ogbu who lays it off to Robson.

Great pass to Wright for the penalty though.

Very good result, can see why Exeter are up there, but we played well in the first half and more than matched them playing some decent football.

Second half first 15 mins Exeter threw everything at us and we couldn't get out our half, some last ditch defending including clearing one of the line saved us.

A good break sees Wright fouled in the box and 2-0 kills it. Game was then stretched for us to get a third, after that we just sat back and let Exeter have the ball but apart from one great save from Macca they didn't have many chances. Until a late free kick in injury time and we gift a soft goal from poor defending from a cross.

Good to see we can make 6 changes and still comfortably beat the league leaders. Cook, Wright, Hess and Pollock were all excellent. Gibson for me though has been our best player last 3 or 4 league games his positioning is brilliant.
