What a win that is. That's the second time this season we've fielded a side that is clearly not our favoured 11 and won, Donny being the other. Our strength in depth may well only be youth but what an incredible job they're doing. Pollock and Wright are playing with so much confidence and it's a huge testiment to Jolley for putting his utmost faith in the academy.

We proved we don't have to rely on hoofing it today and that's very encouraging. Robson and Cook can allow us to play it on the deck, so we clearly do have a plan b available. If we can start developing a mixture of the two then I'll be pretty excited about what we can achieve.

Got to give as much credit to Jolley as you do to the players here. Bold selection and it's paid off. As suspected, eliminating Hanson means we have to adapt. Now we need to figure out how to include both approaches. If you can mix it up with a few styles of attack in this division you'll be well on the way to doing well. All the talk before the Chelsea match was about if Wright should start. However, him starting today or not was arguably the more compelling/relevant discussion. Agree with Frealaf on Gibson, but Robson as well has started to look great. Fantastic result, best so far this season. We fluked it last season down in Exeter but not today.

We keep picking up these results. You expect things to pan out like last season where we’d win 4 and lose 7 straight after, but we’re actually turning pretty consistent. A long long way to go but really impressed so far, especially with the youth, which for the benefit of everybody else reading, has never really been a strong point.

Sounds like Exeter should have had a penalty towards the end but these things even out over the season (usually). Fantastic win and performance and it’s so good to see not just hoofing it, as much as I like Hanson. Max Wright is becoming one hell of a player and Mattie Pollock is hopefully not too far behind - he turned 18 today!

Well deserved win for Grimsby. Soaked up the pressure then caught us on the break. We could have scored at the start of the second half but it was hacked off the line onto the post. Too many of our lot not at the races today. But it's only one game, need to get it together for Crewe next week.

I thought Grimsby were well organised and entertaining to watch and deserved the win. We had chances in the 1st half but did not take them. The one or two key players for us who are the true difference in class just did not do it for us today. We are still top and have averaged 2 points a game thus far, which is brilliant. The ref Brett Huxtable is disliked in Exeter, there is a belief that he supports Argyle (he's from north Devon), but he did okay today and I've definitely seen a lot worse other refs in recent times. Massive game at Crewe coming up

On Fantasy Island with Shergar and Lord Lucan.
His usual response after he disappears is ‘I have better things to do than post on here’ before then continually posting after Exeter’s next victory.

Yip, we deserved those three points, really pleased with the team selection too, Exeter must have set up expecting our new style 'hoof ball' and without Hanson and Green up front we reverted back to playing football, and it worked. My first (live) win of the season, well worth the journey down there and back.

Well played Grimsby, no complaints from me.

To be honest, whilst we're top of the table we haven't really been playing that well and have been grinding out results so, without wishing to state the obvious, a loss was coming sooner or later.

Of course what's important now is how we react.
