You need to get Nolan out of the first team asap. He brings absolutely nothing to the side when he's not playing up top waiting for Carroll's knock downs. He's been that way since his Newcastle days.

Can't abide him, I never have, most West Ham fans have wanted him gone for a while now. When we were in the Championship it was like playing with ten men with Nolan just hanging off Cole's knockdowns and wasn't a central midfielder at all - but for that season he did have the knack of being in the right place and scoring those knockdowns, so fair enough. Same tactic didn't work in the Prem, so it was like playing with ten men again.

But Allardyce wants him in the team cos he's his old Bolton mate. Urgh...

Disappointing not because of the result, but because we didn't give as good an account of ourselves as we could have. So many changes and a different formation, nothing up front from yann, still playing one up front with 15, 10, 5 mins left.

Villa at times looked good and at times looked no different to any championship side especially first half when they couldn't pick out one pass in the final third.

Paid them too much respect.

"I think both sides deserve credit. I thought we were excellent."

Brendan Rodgers, following a 0-0 home draw with Championship Bolton. What a wanker.

A fair summation as usual from Brendan, unlike Wenger who even when his team gets walloped by six goals (quite regularly) will say they did enough to win the game...

Paul Lambert says:

"They were playing against a team who have been winning a lot of games.”

Well Lambert, given the team that we actually picked - that clearly wasn't correct. The team we put out hasn't played many or won many games!

For 45 minutes though, I thought we did ok. At half time the Villa fans were frustrated, were not only silent but were starting to get on their teams back with what little noise they made. We were growing in confidence on the ball, half time was the chance to take the initiative. That was the perfect moment to spring a surprise with an attacking change to help Kermorgant and improve the one and only first half failing, which was his isolation up front.

Instead we let Villa make the first move and change their side and gain momentum. In fact we didn't change anything in our side until we were 2-0 down, and even then didn't change from one up front which was most odd.

Hopefully it's a learning experience for us all including Howe, who will take something from the day about playing against Premiership teams and managers.

I think that's the best FA Cup weekend I've seen in years, if not THE best. Nearly every game was a belter. Arsenal, West Ham, Villa, Palace, West Brom, Leicester and possibly Stoke the only PL teams that avoided an embarrassment.

Let us all join together, and laugh at Manchester City and Chelsea. :fl:

Apart from the fact that was the team that got you this far, which your manager rightly stuck with.

We struggled in the first half to break your shape, we had no movement what so ever, with only Hutton trying his best to create chances. You countered us really well I must say, had some great chances but Okore and Clark were strong.

Second half we were a different team, Lambert must have gave one hell of a half time talk!

Gil's goal was just the perfect goal for me, I was sat right in the middle if the Holte and it was like slow motion, I instantly lost my voice when I realised it went in! Will never forget it.

I couldn't believe how bad the draw was, so many potential local derbies and not one was picked. I guess the possible Preston v Utd game is the only local one and its not that local lol.

Not too many likely shocks around this time - fancy Bradford to get past Sunderland or Fulham at home though.

Can Boro repeat the trick at Arsenal?

Possibly. They have a decent defence, they could make us sweat and pinch a goal on the counter. As long as we don't underestimate them then we should be okay. Even though we'll put out a strong squad I'll still be sweating.

Why did Pulis want Carlton Cole when he's got Ideye?

Only reason West ham lost was cuz they couldn't play long balls without Carroll.

Whens the Next round? I've got tickets for WBA Vs Southampton on the 28th, don't want it to be rearranged, I'm sure it won't but wanted to double check.

Yet another win for Reading away to a Championship club. Surely they deserve something better next - cue Blackburn away

Has Guzan been dropped for Given?

I'm surprised Gil has been left out, he's looked pretty decent.

Given has played in all the cup games, and Gil is injured.

This really is dross.
