Better side in the first half albeit without creating much at all, now find ourselves 1-0 from that Norwegian fella I rate.

Bowery lost the ball then lost his man in the box, but it was a good header.

2-0 now a really good solo goal by Aasguard, no complaints with that one, just a good quality goal.

Been below par this second half, missing Deji in defence.

Only 4 and a half thousand at Mansfield tonight for a FA Cup 3rd round match with Premier League opposition awaiting in Round Four.

The Mozambique stags will be devastated at that result.

1-1 st half time. Fair reflection; Derby have edged it on general performance and we’ve edged it on chances. All to play for in the battle of Who Wants To Lose 6-0 To Man City’s Reserves.
Happy now??

You might have a chance in the next round, City couldn't beat Brentford who are a disgrace for what they did in round 3.

More than I thought would bother all considered.

I watched it in Australia on Optus Sports with a jar of lager.

That Mansfield crowd is fine isn't it? No one gives a shite about the cup, especially midweek, we only had 7,700 on.

You've probably made Round four a fair few times considering you more often than not enter at the third round stage.

I'd be interested to know how many times Mansfield have made the 4th round in the last 20 years. Just thought they may be a few more there, they're usually quite well supported.

We sold more tickets than what was in attendance today on an update from Monday 6th so obviously been quite a lot of refunds (including from Wigan who sold around 700 for the original date and only took 300 tonight)

Can only presume you’ve forgotten this is a rearranged fixture with a couple of days notice, Wigan at home is a stinker of a tie and nobody cared about playing in the 4th round, it’s all about the opposition not the round. Little bit of backlash from the pricing too which was justified.

The fact I couldn’t be arsed to attend says a lot, I think it’s fair to say I’m a pretty devout fan….

Saturday is sold out like pretty much every league game is nowadays.

Ended up on a whimper really, funnily enough we played much worse at Wigan in the league and won 2-1.

Came across very flat on the telly, from the players and fans, Clough did rotate a fair bit too.

I think Aasguard may well end up in the championship before this transfer window ends. Definitely be at that level by the summer you’d imagine.

I just want to get a better result than Salford. Great tie, mind, especially since our last good draw (Spurs at home in the league cup) got stolen from us by COVID.

We should both be on t’telly which will mean bollocks kick off times.

Every single one of our players tonight gave everything to earn a crack at Man City, we had players going off injured, getting sent off for making tired last ditch tackles, players blowing out of their arse and next to no attacking options on the bench.

Fuck knows if we'll be able to put a proper side out Saturday, Wellens said had the game been played on Saturday a few more wouldn't have played due to illness and Jack Currie was able to play too.

Very little in the game, Derby the better side second half and extra time as you'd expect and had chances to win the game. Luck was on our side tonight.

I could not be prouder of that squad of players tonight, every dog has its day and we will make sure we have ours against City.

The trains to Chester and Crewe were up the spout that weekend, was going to take me 4 hours to get to Wrexham General and back on the train, so I am pleased to be avoiding it!

As for the game, I thought maybe we were unlucky to not be winning at halftime, but it wasn’t to be - the game was relatively similar to our game at Wigan, the away side with great strikes to win the game when the home side did a lot of the probing and running etc.

Wigan better 2nd half for sure in that regard and there’s no complaints from any mansfield fans about the result / got to take it on the chin - had it been someone big at home next round i’d have probably been gutted this morning - but meh - we’ve a date with northampton in the league instead.

Bet that Mansfield fan who moaned on X that we were at home in December all the time won't pipe up and say we're always away when it comes to Feb...

It was more an example of the general malaise of attendances in the FA Cup and the lack of interest in the competition.

Mansfield fans usually like talking about attendances.

Fair enough.

Sheff utd got 6,000 or so for their game against Cardiff.

I bet Orient (i’m sure they’d correct me if i’m wrong) probably would’ve got 5000 or so for Derby at there not been a rather big carrot at the end.

I did actually say that had we drawn someone attractive in the 4th round eg city - yesterday would’ve sold out.

There was also quite an uproar over the price of the tickets too £22, but just after a time we’ve had Peterborough, Reading and Stockport all in the space of 3 weeks didn’t help either - quite a lot of folk will have the thick end of a penny to spent until the end of the month.

Problem is he's too inconsistent, as proven in the second half where he dropped off massively. He was linked with Spurs in the summer and is out of contract this summer. He will go, but not 100% convinced he's ready for the Championship. He's a make shift RWB atm and doesn't have a right foot. Kayne Ramsay is back from injury soon, who is better than small and will play RWB may even see him drop out our team for the rest of the season.

I thought it was a decent performance from us, with Preston's extra quality showing in the end. Annoyed about our defensive mistakes but we finally seem to be playing ok under Jones.

Yeah well done to Orient, when all is said and done you’ve made a decent amount of cash from this, must be a good chance for being televised.

The main reason our crowd was as meh as it was is the price. £22 which came at a time when we had Charlton, Peterborough, Reading and Stockport all to play away in a 3 week period. A lot chose those games over Wigan which was scheduled to be a 6pm KO on a Saturday night. Not sure how it works, I’m sure Wigan would’ve been happy to charge £15 imo, it’s a long old way for their own fans so I reckon this was our club. Probably thought they’d sell the place out at £22 and make abit

I’m sure there’d have been 6k had we drew a mouthwatering R4 tie in Sundays draw but sadly we got Fulham and mouthwatering it was not.

It’s a shame to see less and less caring about the FA Cup though, in comparison to some really low crowds this round ours actually looks good, but it’s hardly surprising given it’s been kicked in the bollocks now for 20+ years by those at the top.

Some of the other attendances surprised me more than the Mansfield one tbh.

Preston getting 7.5K, Millwall 5.5k etc etc. Quite a sad state of affairs how the FA Cup is viewed by some fans nowadays. The FA to blame.

You’re right, it’s led from the top.

Daft Ko times
Removal of the replay
5th round ties being played midweek
cup final messed around at all times.

My stepdad follows man utd and i remember them winning it twice in a row vs chelsea 94 and liverpool (in those dodgy cream suits) in 95 but they were all day events, it was like a national event when it was on. Now its meh.

Also they’ve scammed it in the sense that the loser of the final got into europe if the winner had already qualified via other means - that no longer happens and it goes to the league (obviously to suit the big boys).

it was huge!

my manifesto is that:

FA Cup ties should only be on a saturday (at 3pm)
Replays (bring them back) can be on a Tuesday night at 7.30 under the lights
Only the Final should be at Wembley and it should be the final game of the domestic season.

We'd have had about 2000 home fans for the Wycombe game if we went through
