The main reason our crowd was as meh as it was is the price. £22 which came at a time when we had Charlton, Peterborough, Reading and Stockport all to play away in a 3 week period. A lot chose those games over Wigan which was scheduled to be a 6pm KO on a Saturday night. Not sure how it works, I’m sure Wigan would’ve been happy to charge £15 imo, it’s a long old way for their own fans so I reckon this was our club. Probably thought they’d sell the place out at £22 and make abit

I’m sure there’d have been 6k had we drew a mouthwatering R4 tie in Sundays draw but sadly we got Fulham and mouthwatering it was not.

It’s a shame to see less and less caring about the FA Cup though, in comparison to some really low crowds this round ours actually looks good, but it’s hardly surprising given it’s been kicked in the bollocks now for 20+ years by those at the top.

I said the price point was almost certainly us, those on stagsnet did not like it lol.

I think the fact it’s a rearranged fixture with a few days notice is the biggest factor, followed by the price and it was a stinker of a tie.

Massive own goal by the club because for league games we are literally turning away people due to either being completely sold out for every game or a couple of random single seats avaliable. Making this cheap was the perfect opportunity to get those in that normally cannot get a ticket.

Yeah i think most on stagsnet were short sighted in that for me, £10/£15 would’ve been a perfect chance to get them in - would we have lost a bit compared to £22 a ticket, of course but in the long run it would’ve got potential new fans in where you’ve got them hooked - completely agree.

it was huge!

my manifesto is that:

FA Cup ties should only be on a saturday (at 3pm)
Replays (bring them back) can be on a Tuesday night at 7.30 under the lights
Only the Final should be at Wembley and it should be the final game of the domestic season.
On the last point, they could just play the semis at Old Trafford and the Principality. Both hold 75k which is more than sufficient. Keep Wembley just for the final, as you say.

which had the added benefit that of it was two northern teams you'd play at a northern venue, or Villa park etc if they were Midlands teams. Not everyone travelling to London every weekend.

But yet we know they won’t do that as they’ve got to pay for wembley which is a shame.

From uni mates that live in london they seem to have some belief that folk from the rest of the country want to come to london as often as possible and that the semi finals being there is a good thing - yet in reality i’d wager that most folk don’t enjoy a trip to london - i sure as shit don’t.

Agree completely. If Man U reach the semis then naturally you’d put them in Cardiff but otherwise you could actually favour the venues based on geography rather than dragging teams from the north down to London just for the semi.

I also seem to remember them playing city in the final last season but then also the west coast mainline being down, which caused chaos.
