This weekend most of us will be battling for the chance to be humiliated by a bunch of overpaid premier league prima donnas.

Dale away for us on Sunday at 2pm. Will be shown live overseas so the large Rochdale and Pompey fan bases in Macau and Singapore are in for a treat.

We have an intriguing looking game up at Bury on Sunday. Bury look in some great from, somewhat similar to us in that they are scoring goals and playing some good stuff as well. The squad also looks pretty strong for a League 2 side.

Jones has got a bit of a selection decision to make, we have kept a settled team in our recent run of form so might be thinking of resting a few with one eye on the league, or does he keep that settled feel to ensure they keep the rhythm they have found themselves.

Id be inclined to take up the latter option, the current starting 11 have found a nice groove, and splitting that up, and perhaps losing at a tricky place might disrupt some of the momentum they have built up. Although with Hylton back from suspension I would imagine he might feature from the start as perhaps the one change.

Having said that if we did make one or 2 further changes on paper at least it wouldn't unduly hurt us as we have some strength in depth at the moment. One thing id like to see is perhaps Luke Berry make the bench for this as latest update was he was more or less back in full training, that would potentially be a superb addition for us when he gets back to fully match fit.

Looks like it will be a good game though with 2 in form sides, but do rather think its got replay written all over it.

Yes, Bury look a solid outfit this season so should be a good'un.

I don't think it makes any sense to rest players for this weekend. Go for the win and you might get a big 3rd round game and use the money in the Jan transfer window. Scrape a draw and you've just added another fixture to a busy schedule. Players can be rested for the Mickey Mouse trophy mid-week, if necessary.

Charlton away and hopefully we play a lot better than we did in the league a few weeks ago having said that it’s forecast for heavy rain so if we are winning it will get abandoned at halftime

Looking forward to visiting a new ground tomorrow in Roots Hall - last time we played Southend in the cup we got through to the semi-finals, wouldn't mind a repeat...

Difficult one but I'd like to see some game time for the rest of the squad. Like you say the strength in depth is really good at the moment with nearly everyone fit. Our bench is currently full of players who were in the League 2 team of the year last season so it's certainly not a case of taking the threat of Bury lightly.

I'd go for Stech, Potts, Sheehan, Pearson, Justin (RB), McCormack (if fit), Pelly, Grant, Lee, Hylton, Collins.

With a bench of Shea, Stacey, Bradley, Rea, Shinnie, Berry, Cornick.

All depends on whether your players get their brooms out on time.

I'd rather lose than get a replay. No way we'll beat you away and its an extra game we don't need. I'm going 2-1 either way.

Lee Bowyer obviously not interested in a potential decent 3rd round tie.

Side is full of kids or players returning from injury so won’t get a 90 out of them, key players not even on the bench.

Bit annoyed really.

Yep, as expected.

Disappointed in Lee Bowyer today. Pathetic team selection and an insult to both players and fans.

Bloody long journey was worth it :woo:

Although did almost have a coronary when Southend "equalised" in added time - took a good minute for the ref to decide it was offside

Good result for us, 2 down at Peterborough on the 85th minute you expect to go out, so to be in the hat is a good result.

Well we've made it through. Home wins against Colchester and then Cheltenham today have been enough. We've had a bad run in the League recently so hopefully todays result will see our form pick up.

Jones has gone for the unchanged team approach which I think is probably the correct call against a strong looking Bury side. No excuses about a changed team if we go out now! Should be a good test for this side at the least, there are still questions about us away from home so will instill a bit of confidence if we come away with a win.

Successfully negotiated a tricky game up at Bury, sounds like we had to weather a bit of a storm in particular in the second half but with the form they are in to come away with a a win and a clean sheet is very pleasing.

Lets hope for another draw similar to last years 3rd round!

We were somewhat lucky to get a win out of that, especially with the nature of the goal! Very tight game with both teams having dominant periods.

Southampton in Round 3. Please.

Poor? Abysmal would be more accurate, the one moment of quality won us the game. If Slough had been able to finish we'd have been buried and deservedly so. I fear literally everyone in the third round draw.

Bloody good result for us v Bury yesterday; it’ll be surprising if they don’t join the rest of you in L1 next year.

Now we have a pop at managers having a go at budgets; Jonesy in his interview yesterday said that Bury “had a Championship budget”, which I thought was a bit OTT. Just thought I’d mention it if Luton fans get accused of hypocrisy again...

bury have been overspending for about 6 years, and are now heavily in debt. There have been questions about their ability to continue paying such high wages, especially seeing as they are a similar sized club to ourselves and Oldham, both within 10 miles. I think they have cut their playing budget for this year, but it will still be way above average for L2.
