I doubt Wednesday would bring that many, they couldn't care less about playing a non league side.
Is that meant to be in jest? Wednesday would pack it to the rafters even if it was still terracing holding about 3k

8 changes, 4-0 away win, no further injuries to add to our endless list (that we know of anyway…)

I’d call that a pretty successful day. Also great to see the Stags maintaining their relegation form, wouldn’t mind a nice easy home tie against them in the 1st round ..

So...
Grimsby Town v Scunthorpe United
Chesterfield v Mansfield Town

To keep two of the brothers in the hat for Round 2 Proper

Poor game and very underwhelming performance from us, but we did enough to scrape by.

Southport were plucky, but a very limited side. Their number 6 must have taken 20 long throws into the box in the game. Impressive physical feat without a doubt, but any shoulder injury would be a career-ender for the lad.

I wonder how bad the standard of South African international football must be, because Dean Furman was execrable today.

Tidy ground and very nice playing surface.

Great result for AFC Sudbury too because Dartford have been going like a train in the National League South

Snatched an undeserved draw again. I dont know what happened to us in the Stockport changing rooms but ever since the second half at Stockport we've been dire.
The embarrassment at letting a Rusk side come from behind and beat you is hard to shake off.

Does anyone know where to find all these results as the BBC website is pathetic yet again and I can’t find a list of results anywhere.
PA provide all the data for BBC so blame them.

Flash scores have them all.

Was working today but by all accounts it was the same as the last few weeks.

Poor performance and dull football but got the win.

Big plus was that we got 30 minutes and a goal from Quigley.

I’m not going to go as overboard as some Notts fans (on social media, not here) at our draw at Tamworth. Yes it was a bit flat, but I think if we start Wootton we’d win that fairly easily, as I think we will the replay; Mitchell Is just no comparison, at the moment at least.

The most annoying aspect is a replay on Tuesday ahead of Stockport on Saturday.

I’ve got no real ground for complaint to be honest, Tamworth set up with eleven men in their own box and did not relent from that approach for 90 minutes. Got them a replay, fair play. We probably should’ve had a few more shots rather than trying to walk it in, whatever. No team is going to play like that against us in the league, who cares.

Wasn't there but being flat is something that's happening quite a lot. I think it's the lack of tempo we play at and once we start like it, we struggle to lift it.

This is true. We play some lovely stuff, but what is happening quite a lot is that once we’re doing playing our lovely stuff the opposition has their entire team between the ball and the goal, and we haven’t actually gone anywhere.

We were poor, but had the saving grace of playing a Step 4 side and we may be shit, but we're not that shit, yet.

The goal we conceded, within 10 minutes, was just such crap defending it was unreal, a long throw flicked on into the bottom corner. Once again we played at walking pace, a complete lack of movement, Chertsey had an even better chance 2 minutes later - should have been 2-0.
Then we seemed to work out that if we got it wide to Bridge and Egbri they could just run past people and cross for goals. We just wore them down after that, kept the ball and I got to witness a win at Roots Hall for the first time since May 2019.
Chertsey fans were really good, good noise throughout.

Hope we get a decent draw next round, anyone can beat us, so Sheff Wed away, York if they can win their replay. Rotherham or Ipswich away would be nice seeing as I still have the tickets from the covid cancelled season, hopefully they'll accept them.
Of course I'm expecting Carlisle or Maidenhead at home.

Into the first round for the first time in 4 years. Quite a dull game but we got the job done. I knew Bedfont was close to Heathrow but didn't actually expect planes to be flying past quite low every 3 minutes. Although the roar of the plane engines was nowhere near as annoying as Bedfont giving out vuvuzelas to every kid. From 2pm to the final whistle it was absolutely non-stop noise. Don't normally come away from a game with a headache.

Next round can we get a big-league 1 side away. Sheff Wed or Portsmouth for example

We've played in front of teams for the best part of a year under Burch and Ardley with a brief flurry at the end of last season where we looked exciting and dynamic.
If the tactics aren't going to change then the personnel have to. I feel like we could offload Taylor, Sam, Mitchell, Knight and Vincent and replace them with better without noticing they'd gone. Sounds harsh, I think Francis has a good range of passing, Mitchell needs a run as a striker, Vincent's only had ten minutes all season but we need players for now not for some time in the future.

Not looking like good business with us in the summer so far for Notts…

Taylor and Mitchell not cutting the mustard?

Fair point. The players are clearly very well drilled now - we hardly ever give the ball away or put it out etc. But could do with more urgency at times.

Taylor’s fine, looked good at the start of the season, hasn’t played for a few games as we changed system (for some reason), came back in and played well today I thought. I like him, looks a bit awkward at times but gets forward well and no issues with his defending so far. Mitchell is ok but just not a replacement for Wootton, which was the plan today.

Are you evolving into the new Wrexham? Settling nicely into the National League for the long haul?

Wrexham thought they were becoming the new Lincoln, but seem to be more like the new Bradford, just one league below - loads of season ticket holders but still bang average.

Clearly I'd like us to be the new Luton - brought back our old, successful, manager after he failed higher up at a much bigger club; we have history with that, maybe we just need to be the new (Buckley version) of Grimsby...

Quite possibly. We're not going to spend our way out the division but will have competitive budgets. We are devoted to Money ball and the system though. I think it's a little arrogant as it supposes that the Paul Hursts and Dave Challinors of this world are mugs who don't know what they're doing. Our owners I think underestimate how professional, driven, shrewd and hard working lower league managers actually are.

They’re both decent, Taylor is a good left back at this level and Mitchell has filled in well across the front line, but needs to offer more goal threat.

Our problem/question is more of an existential one than about the personnel - can you play the style of football we’re all in on and succeed at this level?

No complaints, you were more composed in possession and dealt with every set piece we threw (quite literally) at you.

The greatest irony from the game is our first goal game as a result of a brilliant bit of football which cut you apart, which unfortunately is out of keeping with how we approach games. I'm hoping Terry McPhillips will have enough of an influence to change things for us.

Mitchell was signed as cover as a no 9. In all fairness he probably needs a run as one to get the best from him and would want the ball playing through early to him as he's got some pace.
Taylor has disappointed me to be honest but I'm not sure he's either a LB of a wing back which is where he's been playing. Again, maybe it's how we're set up but he's not playing with freedom, they all look afraid of losing the ball rather than taking the risk to make something happen.
