They’re not a ‘Chanpionship team-in-waiting’ evidenced by their last showing in that division.

They’re a top end league one side who may be promoted to the Championship and even that isn’t guaranteed at the moment.

Given the gap between clubs and divisions in this modern game this is comfortably one of the biggest cup upsets. We’re talking about a side being touted as the best in Europe and who are favourites to win the Champions League.

If it was Barcelona Wigan had beaten last night you would probably be saying it is one of footballs greatest shocks.

So they've not changed their squad since then, at all?

People are waxing lyrical over City but they haven't won the CL yet, have they? If you're comparing to Barca then surely they'll need to be in and around the CL final for years to come, not just this season (and they've not reached it yet). They're also not the first team to run away with the EPL.

Only recently there's been two National League sides who have won at EPL teams (Luton and Lincoln). Our 4-2 away to Chelsea, when we were mid-table L1. All bigger shocks IMO given the perceived gulf and they've all happened in the last 5 years.

Wigan beating City is a shock, no doubt. One of the biggest ever? Not a chance IMO.

They haven’t changed their squad too much, no. Wigan fans themselves will tell you they need to strengthen if they want to survive in the Championship.

What has previous seasons or Champions League tournaments got to do with anything? The match was last night, against the current team dubbed best in Europe. I’m comparing to Barca because they are CURRENTLY not as good as city but you would consider it shock purely based on their name.

 I knew from the moment you first questioned my first post this was going to be about your win at Chelsea. Don’t worry mate, everyone remembers it and it was mighty impressive but that Chelsea side were nothing on the current city side and neither were the sides that Lincoln or Luton beat.

Well done Wigan. Bet one or two pies were consumed last night :eyes: (and pints, of course).

See you at Wembley in May...:ds:
(As well as the JJB next Sat, the COA whenever it gets played, and the playoffs if you slip a bit and we win 17 of our last 18 league games!)

Just defrosted! Whichever numpty built Wembley on a hill, where Siberian winds can blow straight through it, deserves keelhauling.

A few conclusions:
1. Spurs are a good team, particularly Son.
2. VAR needs, to put it mildly, tweaking.
3. Andy Cannon is probably a better bet for the "surprise late inclusion" spot in the England World Cup squad this summer than Harry Winks; but Powell or Power at Wigan, Jonjo O'Toole at the Cobblers and several other league one lads also qualify for this.
