All credit to Alvechurch, played some nice stuff. Cracking free kick as well. Stupid red for Bernard really, possibly a natural reflex to grab the shirt when you’re turned but nailed on second yellow. Last thing we need is a suspension with all the injuries.

Getting to the 3rd round for the first time since 2010 is fantastic, looking forward to the draw. No top Premier League side will fancy playing us!

Agreed...it is hard to play against a team where at times you haven't a clue what tactics they are using...maybe that will count in our favour.

Your absolutely spot on mate, just get through. Not pretty but job done. Fingers crossed for a good draw tomorrow, like everybody else who's in the 3rd round
Credit to Ebbsfleet who made it so difficult

Pretty convincing from us in the end - 6 goals. clear gulf in quality but fair play they came and had a go - and scored too. If we had been away it might have been different.

Apparently Bristol Rovers had a bug in the camp according to the BBC hence their defeat to Boreham Wood.

I really hope so as that was as bad as a performance as ive seen for a long time.
Credit to Boreham Wood though they were all on top of their game and the majority of ours weren't and thats what happens

We never seem to draw any of the glamourous sides even when we do reach the 3rd round so not too fussed myself just humiliating to get done at home by an average non league side

Aside from the Manchester City Away tie in 2020 at the 3rd round point we've always had some right stinkers in R3 since we were second tier ourselves.

Doncaster, Plymouth, Huddersfield, Burnley come to mind, even Brentford at home last season felt a bit meh considering we used to play them season in season out until a few years back.

We’ve been ok, when we were in non league we had Sheffield United at home in the second round. Then once back in the league we had Man United at home in the fourth round and Leeds at home in the third round.

If we’d got through this time round we’d have had Burton at home which probably would have excited them as much as us.

My original comment was totally tongue in cheek and I’m massively disappointed with how poor we were and allowed a poor Grimsby side to beat us. Wouldn’t mind if we’d lost to Plymouth or similar!

Even the FA Cup is not really what it once was.
Back in the day you know the top sides would field all the stars, not so much these days with massive squads they have.

We have been in the third round twice before, the last time was more than ten years ago. The first time we were home to Derby, a game that still holds our attendance record, and the second time away to Notts County a couple of seasons later. Back then I don't think many of our fans would have expected us to ever be in the same division as Derby, who were in the Championship, or maybe even Notts County who I think may have been in League Two...football can provide the odd surprise or two.

Hopefully Birmingham field all their stars against us.

We've got to the 3rd round in the previous 3 seasons and ended up with Coventry, Sheff Utd and Peterborough.
Hardly worth bothering so we decided not to this season :ffs:
