Our replay with Newport is on BT Sport 21st December.

They must have really been struggling for games!

Yep they are, ours at Peterborough is on BT the day before (although a week after the other replays)

Yes exactly. You lot need to concentrate on the league. I care deeply about your side and wouldn't want you playing your strongest side and the possibility of 4 or 5 of your star players getting injured on our rather poor pitch.

it will be our cup team I reckon,

still a decent championship team, but without our main players like Jannson, Hernandez, taylor and wood

Kemar Roofe might play, if you guys have a rivalry with oxford like the universities do :D

We don't.

That sounds like ideal opposition for a decent lively match. Most of us would love a replay with the chance of some TV money.

We have a solid U's following from Leeds, who regularly cross with your support that seem to fill the M1 and A1 northbound when you're playing at Elland Road. I lived in Burley for a year or so in the 70s and would welcome the excuse to re-visit old haunts.

Man Utd v Reading is a joke as is West Ham v Man city. There are both non league and Leagues 1 and 2 teams who need tv money to survive but The BBC chase ratings over the magic of The FA Cup.:mad:

Apparently the last time Manchester United had an FA cup tie that wasn't televised was in 2005!

Isn't TV ratings what TV broadcasting is all about?

Liverpool vs either us or Newport on TV 1:30 on the Sunday 8th BT Sport. All of a sudden the replay is worth about 600k

No they don't, but they have to provide entertainment (sic) for the largest possible audience as part of their remit. Additionally, this is the only chance the Beeb gets to televise live a match between two Premiership teams.
I would prefer to see lower division teams featured in their televised matches in the later rounds too but that would be their reasoning for their choice of matches.

Will there really be more people watching Man U vs (insert any team) than watching two lower league clubs? I suspect only Man U fans and (insert team) fans will watch that.

I may be on my own here but I never watch an FA Cup game with the prem teams in but if, for example, Wimbledon vs Curzon Ashton is on TV I will always make an effort to watch it. Much more entertaining.

I'm with you on that one but the fact is that Man Utd have several million armchair fans, even now!

Yeah but there are a lot of Man U "fans" (loosely defined). Probably more than the combined fanbase of every League Two and One club with half of the Championship thrown in on top. Unfortunately from a pure numbers perspective it's a no-brainer for TV companies to go with the big Prem teams whenever possible, and none are bigger than Man U even these days when they are shite.
