Taylor was our best player but Bodin on top form is a much more influential player in my opinion. If we're being honest, Matty didn't actually play that well in his final few months for us. Unfortunately it looks as if Taylor is going well in his early appearances for them down the road, except for missing a sitter at Derby that would have won them 3 important points in their fight against relegation!
He was offside by all accounts so it wouldn't have mattered although it was a shocker! We can't fault him thus far, a game changing sub appearance at the Gate against Rotherham and a very good start at Derby. He's just what we need TBH, not that it will cheer you up at all. His movement is very clever on early appraisal, I must say.
His form in the last couple of months for you can only add to the belief that the deal was already sorted, very dark and sneaky if it was but who's culpable? Is it his agent, someone at City or even someone at rovers? All very distasteful TBH.

So you go and watch Rovers every week do you ? Bodin is twice the player Matty was for Rovers.
You're kidding yourself. Sour grapes.

I'm going to have to disagree with everyone, apologies.

For me, Chris Lines has been our best player this season, and i would have said that had Taylor been here or not. It's definitely not been Bodin, even though he has better out of nowhere, match winning ability.

Has to be up in the league high assists for Lines and his overall game (even defensively) has been very good. He's finally turned into that game controlling midfielder. DC has done a fantastic job on him.

Taylor was a close second but the stats say it all, 4 goals in our last 20 before he left, two were pens and one was probably more an OG, late on in a heavy loss. He had been poor for us for a while. I'm not totally convinced the deal was done however, his form fell in January last season also. He's not the most mentally tough of people (again, something i would have said before he left) and he was never very capable of dealing with speculation. Either that, or he really wanted out both times and didn't want to risk an injury, which is fairly likely also.

For the poster who said that Bodin was rubbish in the first half of the season, you clearly have no idea about our club so stop immediately. He was injured twice and also suffered from illness, his season didn't get going because he couldn't get fit. But technically a superior footballer than anyone in our squad by some distance. Taylor a good finisher and fox in the box but simply couldnt do the things with a football that Bodin can do.

Dont get me wrong, if any of us want to gloss over Taylor as no real loss and not a good signing for City, they'd be lying. But don't at the same time pretend you've destroyed our team, there are players here who made him a hell of a lot of chances. In Taylor, City fans have seen a microcosm of what he is all about, decent link up play, excellent positioning, up and down finishing. He'll likely score goals and likely go on dry patches.

By the way, i'm not convinced he was offside of that finish, otherwise why would LJ say he should have scored and Taylor himself say he blamed himself for City not winning? But as i said before, and i can easily find the post, instinctively he is brilliant, when he has time to think he struggles and you've seen that in that chance and his comments of the chance afterwards. http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/i-real...y-beat-derby/story-30129143-detail/story.html

After seeing the video of his miss, I'm not convinced it was offside either TBH.

His agent evidently wanted a move, not too surprising if he's used underhand tactics to do it.

Anyway, it's been two weeks now - probably time to move on. As Gassy said Taylor was our best player, but I was far more disappointed when Lambert left due to the role each player played in their respective Rovers side at the time.

Taylor was always going to leave in January and if most Gasheads were honest, he was the best player and if he had gone to anyone else, we would be saying thanks for the goals and a bonus 300k we wouldn't have got for him in the summer. Bodin or lines on form are technically better players and more influential but lack Taylors goal scoring( Though if you look at Bodins goals to starts ratio he is still 1 in 3 from the wing) Have to say though don't think many ever warmed to Taylor as a person and that has shown with the will he/won't he sign in the summer, then signing for the shit the amount of abuse was immediate and way over the top.

Oh come on George, Bodin twice the player? I'd love to back you up here but f*** me

Taylor was our best player without a doubt. No our most in form for sure, but as a stand alone player, he was our best. Thankfully we're not a 1 man team like we were when we sold Lambert so we'll be fine without him
Its all about opinions -- And i'm not having a "Shithead " telling me which one of our players ( past or present ) who is the better.
