Tough game to predict is this. We much prefer playing teams like FGR then the likes of Northampton and Newport but they are going very well also. Both will have confidence after scoring plenty on Saturday. We even had the luxury of resting 3 of our more important players for the last 35 mins.

Mbula and Hunt did fine Vs Morecambe but then again weren't really tested. So I'd like Nolan back if he's fit for this one. Other than that the same team deserves to play.

I will go for a score draw which seems the safest bet in terms of a prediction

FGR 2-2 Crewe (Aitchison, Mills, Porter, Lowery) 2,688 (200 Crewe)

I think the issue is that with plans to move to a new ground the club are reluctant to spend money on anything other than what is absolutely necessary. Even so, I don't think it would cost ridiculous amounts of money to put a roof along the whole of the West Terrace...the club could sell, or donate, it to another club when we finally get round to moving. The roof above the South Stand was brought here from our previous ground just down the hill, so we do have a track record in recycling!

I hadn't read this thread originally.
Couldn't they just go down Cotswold Camping and purchase a couple of gazebo's like Crawley have done?

Doubt we'll get too many over two thousand, even for a cracking prospect like this, on a Tuesday night. Crowds still holding or growing but not at the rate they did first season into league.

Paid for this on ifollow. However, having just checked the forecast, it appears to be pissing it down all day. Water levels haven’t really dropped much either seeing as it’s constantly rained since the last P-P. Could be another postponement.

If it pisses down all day you can forget it. No way will our pitch hold up, we seem to have a drainage issue on the West Terrace side, which causes problems even without torrential rain. Won't pass any inspections like that.

Just looked at the forecast, doesn't look to bad, raining on and off until about 3 then looks ok after that.

Just hope for our fans travelling sake, if the game is in doubt FGR communicate with the fans abit better this time. I think both the supporter coaches leave around 3pm, so hopefully something before then.

‘A bit better’! Not sure FGR could do a worse communications job than last time. Official tweet of ’pitch is good, games on, no inspection planned’ then an hour later ‘games off failed pitch inspection’

Bear in mind it was the referee who was in charge of pitch inspection and it is he alone who made the late decision. The club put out news flashes throughout the morning with all up-to-date info they had been told.
It's a pain I know. Last season FGR supporters travelled in large number to Newport and paid to cross the Severn Bridge  only to find the game had been called off after we had arrived at their ground.

What I would like to hope for is that the away fans are in North Stand under shelter. The whole crowd on a cold winter night will only fill three sides of TNL and it makes sense to keep away fans dry if it rained. But I don't hold my breath that it will happen.

I understand that but the club didn’t say ‘subject to the refs decision’ or ‘the pitch can’t take much more rain’ did they? Just an hour before it was called off they clearly tweeted not inspection, pitch ok, game on.

Anyway that’s history. Hoping for a decent game tonight. I fear we will struggle to breakdown the FGR defence and will miss Eddie Nolan if he’s still not fit enough to make the team. I’d be happy with a point.

Celebrating treating away fans terribly for 130 years....yup we’re on the uncovered terrace. Plenty of money spare to spend on the FGR squad though.

Oh yeah massive money spent on this squad mainly made up of youngsters and players signed out of non league (and a couple off Cheltenham ;)) .....

The away end is poor though, I agree.

Dragged myself out of bed to listen to second half, sounded off the pace a bit, not that I place much faith in our commentary. Crewe had one off the post and a couple of other sniffs with much more of the ball, think we tested their keeper about once. Nil nil maybe fair?

That is just a dreadful performance all over the pitch, only positive is they didn’t lose it. Fair result but we still looked like the only team who would nick it.

Awful game.

0-0 anti climax sort of game. Wintle screamer off the post coming closest. I was expecting FGR to have abit of a go, played with plenty of men behind the ball for large parts. A draw was probably fair though and is a decent point for us in a tough game.

Dale fades out of every game. Why take Kirk off when he’s got so many late goals? Particularly against these.

Our commentator who sometimes can't even remember what team we're playing or who our own players are of course struggled with pronouncing Ng despite it being one of the most common surnames in the world.

Neither side did enough to win the game. Would've taken a point before the game so happy with one afterwards. We've got a far softer next 19 games compared to our first 19 games now, so let's hope that picking up at least a point off all the current Top 7 (except Northampton) helps us on our way.

A nice FA Cup distraction on Saturday now before the masses of reds invade Macclesfield a week on Saturday!

I don’t think it was a terrible performance, we looked comfortable and we’d probably have broken a poorer team down. It was just two quite cagey teams forgetting how early it is in the season and playing it out like it was a April 6 pointer. Made for a dull game. Pretty glad I decided against travelling down.

The amount of stray passes, balls flying over the top for goal kicks, attacks breaking down because we pass it straight to a defender. No intensity. Barely had a shot. 2 poor teams tonight imo, with them looking worse.

The fact we changed it up by bringing in an extra defender instead of going with our usual front 3 said a lot, meant we basically started with 6 defenders in the team. Pretty cagey, but they're a quality side so a point is decent.

The way FGR set up just shows how far we've come. Doesn't seem to matter who or where we play at the moment, every team sits back with lots of men behind the ball. It's something we've got to get used to this season, were becoming abit of a scalp. I like how were shooting from range more and having abit of success doing so. 3 long range goals on Saturday and Wintle close again. The games up until the new year now look pretty favourable, all bottom half teams.

To be fair, even Perry Ng doesn't know how to pronounce Ng.

Very happy with a point. Very flat game, but not bothered when we take a point off a team above us away from home.

Found the selection and subs odd yesterday. Why drop Mbulu, who's been good since coming in, for the slow liability Hunt? I mean, Hunt has played every minute of every game(bar the checkatrade) for the last 2 months, except for injury). He's 36, he needs to managed better than just rolling him out every week. I get they've had to play him a lot over that period, but with options now, give him a break.

And why drop Finney for Green, who hasn't had a good game in weeks? I get the "It's FGR, not Morecambe" logic for going with the more experienced guys, but why take out 2 confident players for 2 players who've been poor for the last few weeks?

Also, the subs. No Ainley, despite him being lively at the weekend? Yet Jones keeps being brought on despite doing very little in the last month? Only minor quibbles though. Satisfied with where the team is overall.

Oh my goodness!!!!
It was a good tactical and enjoyable game by two top teams.
Indeed Crewe manager said it was the best Crewe have played away all season.

Despite the draw, Crewe have been the best team to visit TNL all season.

Agree Crewe definitely the best side we've played, wouldn't be shocked if they won the league tbh.

Wintle , NG and Lowery are likely to attract interest in January at this rate so I’m not too optimistic. This squad of players definitely have the talent to warrant it though.
