So instead of this being a massive last day relegation decider, which it looked nailed on to be for most of the last few months, both sides are safe and can relax a bit. That should mean a decent game, as we like to try and play decent stuff and it sounds like Grimsby are too under Jolley. So it should be fairly open and attacking. BTTS looks a solid bet in anyone's acca.

Mad Gav has been on the wind up, saying that he hated playing for the Fish so he'll get a good reception from the travelling hoardes.

I've boycotted myself from this (plus away at Barnet, Stevenage and Cheltenham), so will not be at your lawn today, cutting my own instead. I can't be arsed to give a club money that treat Grimsby Town fans like we are all animals or idiots. Sadly your club is in that small illustrious group which does not see me grace your ground any more.

I hope our lot behave well, that's the players and the supporters, should be a pleasant afternoon in the sun for the travelling 900 plus who are going. I am expecting a red for Mr Gunning and a two goal margin in our win, 1-3 being the score.

Thankfully there is nothing riding on this for Grimsby or they would no doubt smash the shit out of the ground. They do have form there.
You are treated like idiots as sadly - you have a fair proportion of them, and unfortunately you are guilty by association. Ask port vale fans that feeling.

Yeah that is true but the Forest Green incident Black Haddock talks about was a guy thrown out in a headlock simply for refusing to hand over his inflatable beach ball.
That day at your place was just shameful and sadly something that will now always be associated with this football club, another 16 supporters have been given banning orders in today's local paper for the violence at the Sheffield Utd pre season friendly too, all we can do as a club is kick them out and hope they don't come back, thankfully the majority of us simply go to watch the game and enjoy the day and would never get involved in any of that shit but there will always be those that try and wreck it for the rest of us.

Coventry v Morecambe still currently 0-0 with them both requiring a draw, who’d have thought it eh?

I see McKeown on potentially his last appearance for us keeping us in the game yet again, really hope he signs a new deal here.

We finished half a bit stronger but it's all a bit end of season isn't it? Gunning for a late winner just so I can enjoy the Fishy later :D

It's an absolute travesty that FGR are going to stay up when they've just let JJ fucking Hooper bag a hattrick against them.

To say Grimsby didn’t win for about 20 games, their little run at the end of the season must be somewhat pleasing.

Hooper managed to score the best and worst goals of his career in the same game!

The game itself had a pre-season friendly feel and had the weather to go with it. Hopefully a good time was had by all. And if that is James McKeown’s last game for us, at least he signed off on a high.

First goal was a messy one, second and third were brilliant and even had people applauding in the Main Stand. If McKeown is leaving Grimsby is there any chance we can have him, assuming he carries on playing, have always rated him as a keeper...pity we didn't really put his quality to the test today.

BOLLOX, 3-0.

Pity we didn't relegate them.

Okay a lot of bad feeling on thread by some Mariners towards FGR, however I will say that at game Grimsby did themselves proud and made a lot of friends.
They loudly applauded a six-year-old boy who was running around the pitch for a charity that was trying to find a cure for his very sick younger brother. Thanks.
I sit behind the dugouts and watch various mangers behave during game. Grimsby's manager Jolley is a diamond: he did not get over-excited and his calming manner must have a positive influence on his players. He has a good sense of humour and smiled at one of the FGR fans who shouted a bit of funny abuse at him.
At the end of game he came over to where the press were gathered and I had chance to congratulate him on his teams turn around since his appointment [I'm not press but just happened to be standing nearby.] He was very happy to talk to me. Very nice fella.

The incident concerning a Grimsby supporter being marched away in a headlock was very unfortunate. The steward was sacked. But we have subsequently learnt that the fan involved has a notorious reputation and has brought Grimsby into disrepute on more than one occasion. I guess it was two immovable objects clashing.

I think I'm right in saying that Grimsby are currently the team that FGR have played the most fixtures against from their time together in the Conference. And perhaps that familiarity has bred a bit of animosity towards FGR from a few of our Lincolnshire friends. However it was brilliant to see so many at TNL - the whole of Nailsworth was black and white. And those I met, and there were many, were real friendly football fans.
I always look forward to FGR playing at Blundell Park. The place is always electric and the fans vociferous but generally fair.
Good luck to both our teams next season.

JJ’s third was immense. It was a good way to end the season. A no pressure win.

Back after a long weekend away taking in the game. A great way to finish the season and all in all a very relaxed friendly day all round. The police I spoke to in Nailsworth were very friendly as well as the few FGR fans I spoke to.

A great way to end the season and a great hat-trick from JJ Hooper (who proved there is a decent player in there somewhere). McKeown made a great save in the first half to keep the game goalless and if that is his last game for us then he leaves with my best wishes as he's been a great servant for us over the last 7 years (I think), apart from his little blip when he spat his dummy out last season when Dean Henderson was playing.

Hooper's 3rd even brought applause from the FGR fans and I hope the young kid who ran around the pitch at half time managed to raise plenty of money for his little brother.

I said after the first couple of games when Jolley took over that unfortunately "you can't polish a turd" but he's certainly made a bloody good job of it and deserves massive credit for turning our season around.

One thing that did puzzle me is that during the first half every now and again (it must have been 4 or 5 times) the FGR fans would just applaud for a minute. I know that happens sometimes as a one off but it seemed to be at least 4 times that it happened.

Just a final word on Gavin Gunning, by all means you can gob off and slag off your old team but you need to back it up on the pitch. Thank God he was wearing an FGR shirt rather than a GTFC one on Saturday.
