Just feels like there's no kind of progression.
Zero pack luck so you upgrade your team piece by piece but everyone you come up against has a team that dwarfs yours in terms of quality and either parks the bus and blocks everything and counter attacks or plays ridiculous amounts of pressure. Which they can do fine because Vieira and Kante and co don't tire.

Ridiculous the amount of shit players who have incredible sides. I'm in Div 5, I have an 82 rated team, not bad but nowt special. I'm getting sod all in the packs as well and have to put my teams together bit by bit. Just played a guy who had 2 icons, 2 IFs, overall rating 86 and I was 4-0 up after 20 mins, demolished him and I'm just an average player. Rage quit on me once the 4th went in. How do these crap players get such good teams?

I've just qualified for the WL for the first time ever!! After getting so close on a few occasions in FIFA 17/18, I've mustered up enough points to give this a bash. A great achievement I feel with my humble 81 and 82 rated teams in the rivals nether regions of division 5.

So what can I expect? I'm expecting to get bum fucked on a regular basis but might win a few.

How many points do you get for wins/draws etc? Just trying to guess what reward I might get..

My WL qualification is a middle (edit - finger) up at FIFA for the unlevel playing field they're created.

My teams are not highly rated but there's full chemistry, good mix of pace, high work rates in the right positions, power and technique. I play to their strengths but every now and then I can't compete with the god like individuals some have, even if I've had much the better of the game. I've already shelled out 50 quid for the game and I'm not spending any more than that. I don't feel like I should have to shell out 100s on points but that's what they push you towards. Its ridiculous the crap that's coming from packs this year so having to rely heavily on trading. I've got 400k coins purely from that and coin boosts, my biggest sale was only 6000.

Fifa is like the National League in many ways, lots of young upstarts with too much cash dwarfing traditional players by out pointing them with mummy and daddy's credit card.

So considering I am PUMPED that I've finally qualified and EA hate my kind of player, I thought I'd tell you whether you care or not, how I'm going to, well firstly, get on, and secondly how I get well and truly battered during the 30 games of icon driven counter attack mind numblingly frustrating bullshit that awaits.

Like I said I've got an 81 rated team. See the pics. Hybrid Chinese League/Brazil match up. Plays nicely, obviously Paulinho 85 is a key player but Hulk and Bakambu provide pace and power and Carrasco is a great outlet on the left and has good work rate up and down. Maicon on the right is shit, as is Gomes, and will be replaced soon. As soon as they get disgraced in the WL.

Second team. Technically 83, but really 82 as my 77 keeper who is a bell end ran out of contracts and I'd rather stick hydraulic acid on my dick than renew him so I put in Handanovic 88 on loan for a couple of games before I sack his ass off and get a proper keeper. Spanish team, err ok Promes isn't, but the ESP options on the left are shitter than Hartlepool at the minute so there you are. Rodrigo is a beast, Promes and Callejon, great options out wide but we lack physicality in the middle and I hate Benat 80, pile of dog poo but we live with him. FOR NOW. Surprisingly good is UCL Santi Mina, great target man and gets loads of assists for Rodrigo. I want to replace him but who with Spanish? Morata? Yeah, hmm not really an upgrade.

We play 352, a formation I like as it's adaptable, allows me to play my brand of passing football, solid in the centre and a great bermuda triangle up top, I say Bermuda as the ball gets lost there more often than not. Obviously, there are downsides. Unless your LM or RM have at least medium defensive work rate and are strong, you'll get torn apart out wide...so to compensate that, I've got cunning tactical plans. Like we just fucking drop back when not in possession and fast build up when we have it. CDMs cover centre and stay back at all times, 4 bars of defensive width, 4 in depth. Basically a flat back 5. Yes okay negative maybe but what to do when you play online vs. 12 year old Saudi Oligarchs who've spent $200,000 on FIFA points. I don't play on the counter much but gives us that option and the drop back keeps us solid when building up at the back, nobody's sprinting ahead except in the final third so solid as.

I've got zero expectations but I'm targeting 5 wins. I'm an average player, my teams are miles crapper than everyone else's will be but I get them playing and we've got every angle covered technically and tactically.

Do they play the Champions League music before WL games? I think it'd be FITTING.

Well bloody hell, 30 games is a lot to play over 2.5 days isn't it?

My weekend is Friday/Saturday so I have to do the WL early but I managed to bash out 12 games yesterday and my thumb is now ready for amputation. Fuck me, that's sore. How the hell I'll do 18 more considering I'm going to the real football today and work tomorrow I have no answers. You basically need to cancel your life to complete that gruelling schedule.

So with my pub side, I targeted 5 wins but revised it to 6 so I could at least get the Silver 3 rewards which are quite a bit better than the bronzes.

From the first 12, I've won 4 and lost 8 but that doesn't tell the full story. I've lost 4 on pens. Heartbreaking for my humble anti FIFA sides of postmen, gigolos and pigeon catchers. I'm lost without the sodding arrow on penalty shoot outs! I've competed in every game, fair enough encountered a couple of lads who were a lot more clinical than me. Them defeats you can take, don't mind losing 3-0 to better players. More than matched everybody and not a single person I've played had a lower rated side than me. I'm giving away some stupid goals though, I'm vulnerable to the press at the back and handed a number of goals on a plate to skilled sweaty pressy twats.

So overall the lads are doing themselves proud, yes a few out of their depth but that's expected. defo on target for at least Silver 3, maybe more. Nostalgia will go out the window as some will not be around much longer as this has happened to me from a mixed players pack in the CSL SBC.....

So that netted me 500k coins, I've now got 900k to spend so I can get better sides and convert a few of those narrow defeats to wins next time. That is the next time I can cancel my life and play FUT Champions.

So all 30 games completed and....

I finished with 12 wins. DOUBLE the target I set out AND automatic entry to the next compo.

Now to buy some decent fucking players but seriously some of my lower rated ones have had great tournaments, Bakambu 82 is a beast up top, David Luiz, good tournament at the back. Paulinho, awesome as ever, but he's quality. Spanish side I have; Quincy Promes, Ander Herrera and Nacho Fernandez at the back, fared well against icons and other daft special cards. Will be hard to part with some of these boys. In the 30 games I played only one side lower rated than mine so they've been a credit to my PS4, hands and controller..

Every time I experiment it goes wrong so I stick with 352 (2 DM, 1 CAM) and it's handy as no one else plays it and I can really get control of the centre considering about 70% of players use 433

I’ve just had my first ‘I hate this game’ match, so I recently decided to finally go online and smash online seasons, I’ve played 40 games unbeaten, drew about 5 of those.

Just played against a decent player who’s got a 30-10 record and he’s Juventus, I’m PSG - he had six shots the entire game and every one went through Buffon legs. Six.

I’m never being PSG AGAIN!!
