Who do we all fancy first? our fans seem to want Vale at home.

I'd like one of the easy beats at home like Barra or Harrogate, or away to Bradford, nice local trip to kick off the season.

If away fans are going to be allowed then I wouldn’t mind that. Reckon we would easily sell 3000 and could see Walsall selling out also to give DC the heroes welcome he deserves ;)

Other than that get one of the long journeys out the way early like Crawley.

Also as they are doing the League Cup draw tomorrow away at the shit would be spot on.

something easy like Mansfield please... as Cheltenham went up they're the only team left we beat twice last season.

We always get Crawley...

Any side may want to avoid us though first game as we are currently 16 games unbeaten on the opening day of the season (ironically since Walsall away in a 3-2 defeat in 2004/05).

Overall not fussed, just hope all fans can attend! (i know if not the case some EFL clubs want it delayed)

that's not good enough to be honest - Sutton got promoted and are digging up a 3G pitch and putting a new grass pitch down for the start of the season - so there's no way Newport should be allowed not to have their pitch ready for the 1st game.

It won't be our usual first day opponents (Fenit St Petersbog), as they went the opposite way to us out of L1.

I seem to recall us having a decent record at Bescot, so a trip to Warsaw will have to do instead.

Its not the case of relaying the pitch the whole lot has been dug up for new drainage to be laid, a job that takes more than 5 minutes + the work started behind time because of our involvement in the playoffs it was also the reason we played fgr home in the first leg of the po semi final.

We’re relaying a whole new pitch with the related drainage etc. Our season ended the same weekend as the League 2 playoff semifinals. We have requested our first game to be away from home but that’s about it.

Not to the extent this one is, its costing the wru 1.5 million for the work to be undertaken at rp.

Since we’re replacing one type of pitch with another, I would argue that it is a more extensive work.

We’re replacing one type of pitch with another, so yes it is.
You just dont get it do you, the pitch is not just for us there are two rugby teams play on it also, this one has to be built to last, hence havin'g to dig down 2 meters all over + the surrounding areas to be able to clear all the crap thats lying there and to lay a top class drainage system, only when that is done they can lay the hybrid pitch but it will take time for the grass seed to take and start growing.

We have Vale and Notlob, plus an unspecified brat xi.

I hope we go out at the group stage to be honest. Forget the £10k or whatever it is for a win its not worth the injury risk. Slap about whichever academy side we have and throw the games v yourselves and Bolton will do fine.

We’ve got another club playing on our pitch too.

We’re not just laying down a new pitch, we’ve already taken up an extensive 3G surface (which in its self is several layers) and we’re needing to lay down our own new drainage system before we can start installing our pitch.

But no, you’re right, your pitch work is far, far more extensive than ours.

Newport and Sutton fight over who has had to do the most work on their pitch. :box:

Not on the same scale as you two but we've had to do extensive work on ours too. Not sure why but it turned pretty crap around February time.

We never seem to try in the EFL Trophy and tend to get a dull draw in the League Cup so not too fussed about them.

Payback time, since you mugs were laughing at beating our kids during our hard times, now normal services have resumed, we'll batter you mugs
You might well do, Evatt has done a very good job turning you round. Add Denis Politic and a couple of other reinforcements and I suspect you'll be in and around the top six next season.

We'll probably get either you or Vale in the Carabao Cup as well, so look forward to our help in enabling you to concentrate on the league...

As we're going to be a mainly new side, with little continuity from last season, I'd like an fairly weak opponent to start with, so maybe Scunny at home.

If away fans are allowed into Carabao Cup games, wouldn't mind a trip to Rotherham, as not done their new ground yet.
