Injuries being my main issue with it.

I started with Dortmund and now have a squad of about 30 as I've had to buy so many players because I had 12 first team injuries.

The injuries are fine for me, you taking into account the intensity tactic bar thingy?

Main problem with the Beta at the moment imo is the horrible lag on the menus which should be addressed soonish.

Not really started a proper save, just been dicking around trying to break shit and understand the mechanics.

Well 6 were pre existing from the start, which was fine. Then I was picking up genuine injuries, some of which were up to a month or 2 out. I've started a new game with Boca to test some tactics for this one and the injuries seem fine, so it must have been a case of bad luck with Dortmund.

I've managed to get into it alright. I started off with Liverpool and as always, the tactic which I've pictured for weeks flopped completely, lost 3-0 at home to West Brom and restarted from scratch. In my current and second try I managed to do ok-ish, finding my feet defensively in a very pragmatic adapt to the opposition kind of way, rotating 4411/433/4231. Late october/early november after getting the hang of defending I've switched to a 442 which is working like a charm. The 442 of last year was completely broken as the wide men, regardless of role, stayed stupidly wide. This year they come rather central to defend when required which is very important for the formation to function at all.

I'm at work but I think I've managed 28 points from 15 games with a very upward form curve, defensively stable but stuttering going forward as Klopp left me with no finishers and I always start without a first window budget. After beating Sporting in the CL-playoff on penalties I drew PSG and Real, thinking I'd go out. But PSG are remarkably shit (as are City) and I beat them home and away, finishing second in the group. Through to the quarters in the league cup as well.

I won't do anything in January except possibly sell the usual three-four players complaining about playing time. What's fun about this year's edition is that the Liverpool squad includes several very exciting prospects, like Gomez, Alexander-Arnold and Woodburn. Hoping for top four and a title. The league title is out of sight because of a poor start (16 points from the first 10 games, imagine that). Next year, though!

I’m having loads of fun. Completed a season already. Started with Luton, got sacked in November with the new scouting system catching me out and reducing my signings to just Scott McTominay on loan from Manchester United. Took over Poole Town in the National League South later in the month, got relegated with them at the end of the season, meaning I got sacked again. Now in charge of Macclesfield in the National League North and sitting at the top with four wins from four games m.

Since this post I’ve won just two more League games with Macclesfield, drawing four and losing seven and have now been called for a board meeting....... it’s happening again.

There's a Beta patch out tonight apparently.

That was supposed to sort the in game commentary taking so long, but it's not done anything for me.

It takes about 4 times as long to complete a game on commentary only compared to 17.

Since this post I’ve won just two more League games with Macclesfield, drawing four and losing seven and have now been called for a board meeting....... it’s happening again.

First game after the board meeting..... A 4-0 defeat against Altrincham. Yeah, I’m starting a new game.

I want to see the league table in my split screen bit, but I can't. I can't see the goal scorers below the main scoreboard and I don't like the small symbol short cuts for subs, shouts, formation changes.

Another thing I don't like is the player search bit either. Content is the same, but it sometimes seems a long winded way of searching. Appear to be extra 'clicks' needed to get to where you want to.

The time is takes to do a match on 'Only Commentary' is now much better than the Beta version and like previous FM's.

Having the same issues. Is there no fix to the match day screen where you can just see the general information (the score and goalscorers)?

Also agree about transfers. You seem to have to click on many different boxes just to get to the general transfer search box. They seem to overdue so many features that should be kept simple. I miss the classic mode they used to have.

Agree with the above, and also the scouting has gone backwards as well. Don't like the way you have to wait ages to get a scout report, whilst it was within 2 days and you used to actually get an email regarding that player. Now I always forget who I've actually put a scout report in for.

I didn't get FM17, last I had was 16. Did they have classic mode on last years one? Really don't understand why they removed it, it was good for people who prefered the more retro style.

Maybe the wording was wrong. Basically where you could switch to the retro layout. I remember playing this way on FM16.

I got a refund from Steam from this year's version. Gave up during the Beta, which was probably a mistake, I'm sure the full version is much better, I was just very disappointed.

Every save I tried, you would either go on a run of a lot of wins, or a run with no wins at all. I know some teams are like that in real life, but it seemed to be a real problem in this game in that it happened all the time.

Just wasn't enjoying the game as much as I have in previous years, found the disconnect between what I'd set up in tactics, and what happened in the games to be much higher than usual. Back on FM17 and really enjoying it.

Will probably pick up FM18 again later in the year but it's just getting too complicated now, I know that's what a lot of people want, but I prefer something a bit simpler.

If there was an official database update, for an earlier version of the game (say FM17) that I could buy, I would. All the "editor" ones are just a bit crap.

How's everyone finding it and getting on? Still not keen on the match day interface - seems very cluttered and when I try and have a proper scoreboard split screen in the middle (as opposed to just the score in the top left), you can hardly see any information on it.

My FM17 tactic didn't work as well, so I tweaked that and have improved a bit.

Quite liking it now. Got a save with York, hoping to take them up the leagues. Conference North was a breeze with their squad, now top of the Conference after 13 games.

What formation are you playing?

I kinda wasted my first season trying different tactical bits and pieces. Ended up 10th after a promising start.

This season I started really well, in the top 3. Then had a wobble and dropped to 9th, but I've won 12 out of my last 13 and with 4 games left I'm 3rd, one point off 1st and 6 points ahead of 4th. Won the last 3 on the spin with injury time goals.

It’s a good game but I’m playing FM Touch. Agree that the match interface is shoddy and everything is two extra clicks away from where it should be. However, the match engine is better than it’s been and I like that there’s more info around to analyse matches and develop your own tactics

On that subject I’m playing 4132, a DLP in the DM slot and 3 cms with different roles and two up top. Great on the counter and a wing back on attack bombing forward. Currently top of the Conference with Maidstone after coming in and saving them from relegation the previous season. Like the game a lot but yeah, the interface needs improvement

This is mine. Still a bit of tweaking to do on FM18 because this season I was 2nd highest scorer and only 5th best defence.

It started when FM17 came out as a downloaded tactic called 4-3-1-2 Gamebreaker, which was based on Klopp's tactic. I've tweaked it beyond that now really because it was far, far too open defensively so it's a little more balanced by being a counter side rather than Control and Flexible instead of Fluid amongst positional settings (Shadow Striker as opposed to Attacking Playmaker in this instance, for example). A few other changes as well.

I was playing a mixture of a 4-4-2 and managed to put together a 3-5-2 which worked surprisingly well at Conference level. I had just had back to back promotions and got into League 2 with York and then my game crashed and I lost 6 months worth of save. Don't like going back and redoing it so I'll start a new one today with a European club.

as always started unemployed with no experience, got Boston utd job in VNN 22nd when I took over after 9 games, target top half, finished 5th and just been promoted beating York 3-1 in playoffs

No body can recommend you players cause this depends on your scouting pool.

You can filter the "best one" like this

Go to Scouting > Players > Player Search.

Click Edit Search > Advanced > Add Condition > Contract Status > Is Expired > Ok

Then check the box that says Interested In. Then click on the gear icon, select from Slightly Interested to Extremely Interested.

This will show every player who is interested in signing who is a fee agent. Of course you still have to scout them for more details.
