I have a good idea of how to improve the English Football League Trophy.
How about inviting Celtic sides into the trophy?
I support the Scots, Welsh and English having their own leagues, but having cross border trophies to add spice to the season.
My idea would be to allow all Scottish Premier sides who have not qualified for Europe, plus a selection of Welsh Premier sides into the Football League Trophy.
The Scottish sides would play in the Northern section, and the Welsh sides in the Southern section.
The Scots already allow the English, Welsh, and Irish sides in the Scottish Challenge Cup.
We would have great fun and banter with cross border games, but not so many games that it becomes boring.
People will talk about travel and I accept travelling to England 20 times a season would be too much, but a handful of games would be good.
Plus Scottish teams have travelled to Georgia, and Kazakhstan in the Europa League in recent years so a trip from Dingwall to Coventry is not too much.
The Welsh would benefit from this transformationally. It would really really help Welsh soccer grow.
Plus this would be fun for Scottish sides. And it would do no damage to English soccer.
Also Welsh, and Southern Scottish sides could play in the FA Trophy.
