Putting this here because I'm certain I'm mis-reading it and yet to grasp what is actually being said. Dunford being one of those who went on the BBC last week FYI.

Not sure what the point of that was (the tweet, not you)... I did look at it and all it was was some Thai footballing officials having a tour of Crewe (at least nobody back in Thailand can accuse them of enjoying a corporate junket), but no kids. Not sure whether this feller is trying to make a joke or not... a quick look at his twitter account suggests he isn't joking, so he actually believes kids were being brought to Crewe from Thailand to be abused? In 2010? Confused as you are. Seems like a bit of a hysterical thing to believe.

Dunford is lying imo. Watched his interview on BBC and it just didn't feel right. Reckon he has sensed an opportunity for a bit of compo and gone for it.

He claimed that without the abuse he received, he would have gone on to have a full and good career in football. Billy bullshitter (imo)

The idea that he's just after compensation as he wasn't exactly a very good footballer [sic] is perhaps one of the reasons why these gentlemen didn't feel that they could go public in the first place. Child abuse ruins peoples lives, if you don't understand the impact it has you really shouldn't comment.

Good post but in TomPne's defense ( and he gets on my tits which he will admit) i think to come out with that statement already just days from the initial claims is a bit suspect.

The odd thing about the above tweet is the the John Galt account. That along with another associated with it are worth a look. Blatantly aliases and only set up days ago with full focus on this story (but mainly Dario Gradi). Both followed by victims and journalists at the centre of it all. Yet both just coming across as teenage trolls.

A little unsavoury, bit underhand and plain fucking odd. A story of this magnitude and seriousness could do without the silliness, especially silliness the victims and journalists seem to condone.

I'm pretty sure the John Galt one isn't really an Alex fan. My brother has been talking to him on twitter and a lot of what he's says just doesn't ring true.

"Him" and the "Emma Johansen" one I would guess are either ex players or journalists out to stir considering who their followers are. Just not quite sure on their actual purpose, just retweeting articles and trolling Crewe fans anonymously seems weird. Could understand it if they were obviously Vale fans, which I don't think they are, or were trying to be "Anonymous" by exposing more stories, but nope, just mates of journalists/ex-players trolling.

Isn't Gradi pretty close to the FA? Pretty sure he was part of that daft committee that came up with the League Three/Premier League B Team nonsense, and given the length of time he's been in the game and reputation he has for deceloping young players I'm pretty sure he must have held other positions for them. Will be interesting to see what balls the FA have when it comes to dealing with one of their own.

He was interviewed for the FA technical director role in the 90s but that, plus committee role, aside he's not had much publicly to do with the FA.

This suspension (whatever the fuck he's suspended from) is classic FA playing to the press, who have had it in for Dario since the day this story broke (again). Dario has had it full on, but we're seeing no sanctions for the club who admitted to actually paying victims to stay silent.

Meanwhile, CAFC still haven't learnt their fecking lesson. No comment to follow up the suspension. Journalists are eejits but in this situation, give them what they want and they're less likely to write shit on you. Instead, our geriatrics give them every reason to rip us apart.

Oh, by the way, Oliver Holt is a c***.

They really went out their way with that statement. It would have taken longer to upload than it did to write.

Probably nothing. It just seems like the minimal amount of effort has been expended. Although, given the circumstances, you could say it's an appropriate statement.

In what way is suspending someone being investigated for covering up abuse a case of 'having it in for him' and 'playing to the press'?

It's definitely not the wrong decision, but this narrative that Dario is the big bad in all this when there are bound to be many, many more still within the game who knew and did as much has most certainly played its part.

Very true, but have the others you refer to had such an influence and such a big a profile as far as youth development is concerned? That's the story the media is angling at here imo.

I certainly don't think he's guilty of anything physical, shall we say, however I find it incredibly hard to believe he knew nothing as he claims.

But when you get players like Danny Murphy ignored by the press when backing Dario and floppy haired c*** like Oliver Holt trying to say Crewe fans want the abuse remained covered up, it's hard to decipher what the truth is in Dario's case and what the media's agenda is.

The 'evidence' is murky though, a lot based on rumours and recollections of 4p0 year old conversations. I don't need to tell you how these 'rumours' have been passed off as pure 'banter' for the last 30 years, especially between vale and Crewe. There's a very good chance he knew and stayed quiet, though I don't think he'll be on his own in that one, I think the entire football world turned a blind eye (let's not forget Chelsea, the ones paying off victims, were the ones sending Dario round to parents houses). There is also a good chance he was duped like so many others, including the parents, by manipulative vile creatures. Bennell married Woodward's sister and Steve Walters' dad was a coach at the club at the time; if the wool was pulled over their eyes, Dario was hardly immune to being manipulated.

I'm just questioning the balance of the whole story, not suggesting Dario is innocent, though cuntchops Holt would have the nation believe otherwise.

I just think it'll be a combination of Crewe being the first club to be at the centre of it, lack of initial responses from those within the club, the history of the academy down etc etc all adds up. Grady's initial reaction to being interview certainly won't have helped his case either, he was very dismissive at the time. The media are looking for a scapegoat and when all is said and done, Crewe are easy pickings as no-one at the club appears to know how to handle the situation in any way.

That aside, there are a lot of squeaky bums and a lot of people feeling pretty guilty in football at the moment wishing they'd taken more action at the time. There are certainly darker things to come I feel.
