Expect Bolton’s greater quality will win them the game but their fans are starting to get on their players backs a little.

Still looking rough for us and Cheltenham.

How many chances do we need to win a game! Been the same story since the new year. Should be 4/5 up here. Finally made the breakthrough. Aaron Collins is absolutely ridiculous when he’s confident. The last 5/6 games he has been sensational even though we haven’t been getting the results.

I’m guessing we are seeing the player you saw 12-18m before he left. Amazing what a different setting/manager can do for a player. On this form he’s way too good for league 1

Well can’t say this has been a surprise. Hopefully can bin off enough of these bums this summer. Moore has it all to prove too.

As it happens with Derby’s score maybe a damp squib for Bolton too.

Well done Burton if that’s the right phrase (probably not).

Standard Vale defeat away from home. Even down to the token injury time goal.

Thankfully that’s all done and dusted and can get on with the summer

2nd half couldn't have been any different from the first.

We struggled from the first whistle, stupid pen to give away and it was all Cheltenham. We could not string a pass together. The 1 time Taylor managed to get forward and we looked dangerous and cracking finish take it 1-1.

Expected some words from Skubala at half time and a reaction, and we got that. First 20 minutes 2nd half Cheltenham did not have an answer. Only frustrating thing was not to score more.

Quite a comfortable 2nd half really and all in our hands with final game remaining.

Sorry to see Cheltenham pretty much down but got ot look after yourself first.

Finally mathematically safe. Don’t think a single Salop fan is celebrating that tonight though, it’s been an abysmal season and it should never have come to survival with two games to go.

Looking at the positives, our away record since Hurst has returned is impressive. 3 wins, 4 draws, 2 defeats. Another positive is that Udoh has scored another goal. Hurst has got him bagging so hopefully we manage to keep him for next season.

Big question for Salop fans now is can Hurst produce another brilliant season just like he did last time he had a full summer with us. I’m positive we won’t be as bad as we were this season as we’ll probably be the fittest team in the division under him once more, just have to see who we bring in. Not interested in the Orient match, roll on summer now.

How the hell are Derby going up? Mendez-Laing aside they are so very average all over the field. Very harsh on us not to get at least a point today, all over them second half, but nothing would fall for us in the box and Derby absolutely got away with one today. Clear looking pen to us in the first half as well not given.

Fleetwood got the win their second half pressure deserved, when they threw near enough everyone forward but it wasn't until stoppage time they took a chance with Simons punishing some lazy defending from us with a tidy finish.

We had our moments in the game, Dan Agyei made a nuisance of himself, but as soon as he was subbed to protect him our forward play suffered and Fleetwood gradually were seeing more of the ball which lead to them winning.

Overall another largely boring performance from us, next weeks dead rubber at Shrewsbury has 0-0 written all over it!

Decent win, that.

Guthrie's a bit of a twat isn't he.
Was a red card, but Guthrie going down like he's been hit by a .50 calibre sniper wasn't needed.

Now officially closer to the play-offs than we are to the relegation zone, so can't complain.
Will Aimson being 2nd top scorer is funny, considering the stick he got off the majority of City fans (me included)

Good to finally get a win at Sixfields after what feels like 496 years.

Couldn't watch our game but expected a defeat. More pissed off at Reading, what the fuck are they doing conceding 3 and losing to that Burton side??

That's us all but gone then. Major overhaul needed in summer, arguably from board level down.

First half today we were very good. Should have scored more but wayward finishing.
Second half the twat reverted to type and took wingers off and pulled everything back and sat waiting for pressure.
Thankfully they were not very good so we saw it out. Good atmosphere today. Bought a few inflatables home for the kids as reading had them confiscated and then given to the home fans at the lap of honour.
Sorry to see vale go - they lost it really as opposed to us staying up.
We are nailed on for relegation next season unless we change personnel and quickly. Might still go down but can’t see Cheltenham winning both. Might be wrong though.

Very end of season game at Sixfields. Draw probably a fair result but we were lethargic overall so no real complaints. Not sure on the hate Guthrie is getting, Woods sticks his head in to him of course he’ll go down and it was clear as day a red. Enjoyed him getting pantomime booed by the West stand after his equaliser, and the needle at points threatened to make it interesting.

Side note, some of the Exeter fans down the front of the way end seemed fairly lairy for an end of season dead rubber culminating in a full blown fist fight between a fan and a steward and the fan getting dragged out by the rozzers. Utterly pointless and time to end the season I think.

Sounds like we were slow starters today and gave away a sloppy penalty but sounds like we bossed the second half.

Great effort from the players again, onto Pompey!

Relegation confirmed, ironical as we achieved a rare away win, and ( sorry you Orient fans ) completed our only double of the season. To put things into perspective, the last time we won away on a Saturday was last April against Accrington. We now are in almost our highest position all season, 3rd from bottom. Still ( almost ) local matches next season against Carlisle and Port Vale, they'll be good games with both these clubs having terrific away support
Onwards and upwards for all of us

Not just saying it mate, you can be well pleased with your season back in league 1. Wishing you all the best for next season which will be upon us before we know it

You really gave it a good go. Your form over the last 6 weeks or so has been impressive.
The nucleus of that squad should get you back up hopefully.

Reading were on the beach today.. quite literally with the amount of sand on the Pirelli Stadium pitch

But we have a tendency to crack and let in a load of goals when one goes in. Classic examples being the league's lowest scorers in Shrewsbury were able to score 6 goals against us this season..

Definitely need to tighten up at the back next season. 7th highest scorers but 4th worst defence tells you where our problems have been.

That and all the beach balls you bought.
Got one in the back garden with small coloured balls inside it. Son loves it. Looks expensive. You really should not have gone to so much trouble..
I actually thought you looked decent today but the final ball was poor and out of possession too many players were walking around as if they had given up.

Cheers mate, you take the rough with the smooth. Be much changed team come August, 6 loan players will be heading back to their respective clubs. The likes of Mayor/Stockley will go, both on big money
Fortunately we have some very good young players who will form the bedrock of the squad next season. Enjoy the close season and come back refreshed, best wishes for your club

Think it’s more the reaction of Guthrie. It was a red, granted, but Guthrie should have also been sent off for basically suplexing Woods in the first place.

Did see that with the City fan, the stewards doing what stewards do “best” and trying to act all power happy. When 9 of them can’t control one pissed up old bloke, it makes you think if they’re in the right job.

I'm glad you are able to have a game on the beach. Maybe next time you should consider not trying to get games abandoned. Some of our fans might have had a love in with you but ultimately that day started our demise. We might have beaten you when we were meant to play the first time but by the time we played the rearranged game we had lost our best players and were woefully out of form. I can't believe you got away with it, without any real punishment. Disgraceful club.

Awful again today. We're so far off Bolton, it's frightening. Yes, they've got a bigger budget than us but they're still in the same division, so we should at least be competitive. We had a moderate go in the second half but it was too little, too late. A result that reflects our season. Lots of huff and puff, but zero quality at both ends and no real fight.

Any team that finishes below the woeful Burton team deserves to go down. But they did what a lot of teams other than Vale do in these situations and put up a fight. Throughout my entire 35 years of watching Vale, we have very rarely put in that shock result.

I'm glad it's over. I'm sick of losing all the time and us not even competing against teams of a similar size or smaller than us. Huge summer ahead because we've seen many teams similar to us fall straight out of the league. If we do, we're done as a football club.
