I think with Newport obviously they’ve got Telford who will finish as L2’s top scorer. Before tonight though he hadn’t scored a goal since February so makes you wonder if it was just one hell of a purple patch in which case anyone looking to sign him in the summer might need a bit of caution or teams have worked out how to stop Newport supplying him.

Even though it’s only a three point gap there’s a couple of teams with 2 games in hand on them now so think it’s as good as season over.
Telford has never been a regular scorer, but like Mullen, but he had Hoolahan feeding him so was always 50/50 as to if it would last. Pope for example had that mad 33 goal season so I don’t expect him to repeat it.

I'm not sure why Vale think this is a good result. Colchester had nothing to play for and went and got a win, who is to say Newport won't do the same.
I'm certainly not ruling Rochdale out tomorrow just because they are safe.
I agree with that. When teams have nothing to play for they might try things that they wouldn't ordinarily. Take people on when they might usually play a safe pass. Shoot on sight....because it doesn't matter.

I recall us beating Morecambe 7-2 in an end of season game a few years ago. We just basically shot from anywhere.

Rowberry is giving off Anthony Hudson/Warren Feeney vibes. I can see this all going horribly wrong next season.

When you beat us earlier this season you looked an excellent side and that it only finished 2-1 was very flattering to us. At that point I had you down to finish top three so the last couple of months have been surprising.

To be fair to us in that game we had no attack as all our striker and all our wingers were injured so had to park the bus for 90 minutes, we’d been clinging on against Rovers who had 10 men once we lost the two and it rolled over into that game didn’t it.

We ended up throwing on a youth striker for his debut who had been out injured for months in desperation at the end.

It was pretty much a game of defence v attack as we had no options to do anything else.

Wonderful goal to beat us mind!

The manager and the new assistant manager, Serrant, haven't galvanised the team when it matters. The opposite has happened. The board have a tough choice to make. Do they double down and allow Rowberry to recruit a squad in the summer or get rid. For me they should bring soneone else in.

There's a difference between having nothing to play for because your season has been sorted for a while now, as opposed to being deflated as fuck as your season's over because you've bottled the top 7. They won't be playing with freedom. They'll be downhearted in my eyes.

We were depleted up front for sure but by the same token look at our midfield that day - Pett, Walker and Conlon. I would give anything to have those three available for our remaining games.

Just Pett would do at the moment! Fingers crossed he’s there tomorrow!

Rochdale will barely even get out their own half today. The red & white of ECFC on St George's Day will be too much for those northerners. This will be our most comfortable and biggest win of the season as we start to close down on FGR's GD. Can see the gas winning by a fair few goals. Could be an 8+ swing today.

It's quite astounding that a supposedly grown man writes this drivel. It's like being back in primary school listening to some knob daydream he's Roy of the Rovers.

If we win and Northampton, Bristol (Rovers!), Sutton and Mansfield all lose, we'll be promoted today.

Fingers crossed!

You dont ask for much do you :bg:
If I was asking for a lot I'd ask for a FGR-BR draw, so we would effectively be promoted today and within 3 points of first. But that would be greedy.

Curious which of the many former Scunny players for Bradford will score today, it was Songo’o earlier this year. Can see it being Gilliead today.

I just want to win today and then we can celebrate on Tuesday (in an ideal world!)

Keep up, everyone has been moaning all season about how shite Bristol Rovers are with their away ticketing. Just go in the home end because they never sell that out.

Hence why Walsall are a bigger club than them in every sense.
Like how Plymouth are bigger than Exeter!

Thing is with Exeter probably winning we could do with a win today. No need to play for a draw anyway, we’re almost certain to go up either which way but we won’t win the title drawing games.

Let’s go out and attack the Gas and show why we’re top of the league.

Your manager surely won't be game watching today, will he?

No need to it yet, especially not for you anyway.

Big big big game today, win it and I might just back us for the autos.

I'm not saying we'll win today, and we're probably not favourites, but the tone of certain comments on this thread have raised the status of such a win from "unexpected treat" to "fucking hilarious".

I hope not, been a lot of talk in the local press of a point getting us up but our manager tbf has said we need to approach it wanting a win. Not sure sitting in and defending would suit us that well in any case, we’re not really set up for that nor are we a particularly counter attacking side. So it should be a good game.

We are obviously going to have to raise our levels massively from our recent games, especially Barrow, but I think we are capable of that. We need a Tranmere level performance.

Heard your manager on TalkSport this morning actually, seems pretty down to earth and didn’t seem too bothered about when it happens really. As he said “if it doesn’t happen tomorrow (recorded yesterday) we have many more opportunities for it to happen”.

Of course press talk Vs dressing room talk is completely different, but he doesn’t seem bothered by being promoted today

0-0 we are 19th and have won 1 in 17 at home and you have won 1 away all season, we’re less shit than you but don’t expect us to roll you over you were unlucky not to beat us at your place we are dog shit but have done enough away from home to survive. As for Gilliead if he scores against you then the players should retire, lad couldn’t score in a brothel.

Pett starts! Big boost for us that as we looked so fragile Monday with no natural CDM.

Gibbons on the bench is a massive plus
