I think it was the power that did the GK, I thought the striker had missed his chance by not playing Mullin(?) in.

The game has settled down now but Wrexham seem a far physically stronger side and are snuffing Mansfield attacks out and winning most of the duels in the final third as well without being able to build on second balls.
Given Mullin's form he was better off shooting.

Competitive game, few decisions gone against us as per, not much created by either side really our big chance was the 1v1 / phantom penalty.

Think Mansfield been a bit more busy in front of goal but Wrexham defence other than the chance mentioned above been solid, that being said feels harsh to be losing.
I
can see another Wrexham goal coming out of nowhere to kill the game off if I’m being honest, similar to last season.

I hope Pym is not out for long!

Mansfield showing is quite turd. Can’t shoot and when they do they smash it into the stands. That is when they get a chance to shoot from close range, they decide to fall over. Always looking for the pen.

Quite embarrassing really.

Also which dickhead smashed the ball from point blank into the fans behind the goal just because McClean was nearby? What a twat.

Also love the chants from the Mansfield fans saying we cheat. Not our fault the ref can’t see blatant arms round the necks of our players all game.

You are way too emotional for this game my friend, or you are a child, in which case all is forgiven.

I think decisions have been pretty even to be fair, ref isn't giving many soft fouls away.

Thought the Mansfield lads were all going to be "out" all weekend and not watching this.

Their front 2 look busy and are forcing mistakes from our back line. Could see them getting one unless we wake up a bit in possession at the back. We're happy for them to have the ball though, as is our way. We look like we can score again though if we pass our way up the pitch.

Talk of a penalty is embarrassing, he'd overrun the ball and was halfway down anyway.

I’d go with that. He’s done his best to let it flow.

The onlyl clanger was the yellow for baccus when he got pushed but got the yellow for then going into one of your players. wasn’t a penalty.

He did overrun the ball, and was looking for it but erm, I don’t actually think it matters because you are not allowed to do what the defender did, it’s soft if it’s given but it’s a free kick outside the box all day, one of those. No sympathy for Gregory, gotta shoot.

The gaffer got ready surprisingly early this morning so hit our destination early enough, I’m not allowed to discuss football for the weekend once that full time whistle goes!

Game has opened up in the second half, feels like Mansfield are trying to build a bit of momentum and get into a rhythm and Wrexham wanting the breakaway moments but not doing a very good job of it.

It's alright if you're city and have players who can be relied on to move the ball to the middle quickly and bypass several opponents, which is the key benefit to playing it out from the back; but we're far too slow and uncertain with it and teams have quickly cottoned on to the high press around our area and the chaos it causes us. So predictable and yet we're still persisting with it & talking about the players needing time to adapt.

...and then I go on the Wigan forum prior to our game against them, and I see this.

"...the tics are currently one of the most unimaginative, tedious teams around. Trying to emulate Pep's tactics of possession based, sideways and backwards football just doesn't work as the current squad isn't skilful enough or capable of playing that way. It frankly bores me and am sure many other fans to tears."

I honestly have yet to hear anyone who thinks, "oh yeah! we're a much better team since we've started trying to be lower-league Barcelona".

Would like to see some stats on the number of needless goals given away directly as a result of the "look at us! we play it out from the back...oh, we fucked it up and conceded" philosophy.

Should really have got something from that, shame to go down to such a soft goal early on - ironic that pym would allow that in.

A combination of bad luck, poor finishing and in fairness some typically good defending from wrexham has diddled us.

One of those days, can’t complain about the performance, well play a lot worse than that and get something this season for sure.

We’ve got 1 from bham and wrexham which is a point more than i expected, to be able to hold our own against 2 sides with budgets astronomical to our own is encouraging.

Harsh on Mansfield, definitely deserved a draw on their second half showing and on the balance of the 90 minutes it could be argued all three really.

Leaving Wales empty handed which feels a bit silly, definitely feels like we deserve to be going away with something as we’ve played well but very unusually for us we’ve let ourselves down in the final third, but that’s football. We move on to the next one, never nice to have a break after a loss though!

Close game. Felt like one moment of quality (which neither side come come up with apart from Barnett's goal) or a mistake would lead to a goal. Either side could have easily won that.

Poor performance really but just about did enough and very happy with a hard fought three points.

Thought that was thoroughly enjoyable, one moment of quality deciding it with chances on both ends.

Mansfield are much improved on last season.

I was thinking that about them. Their defence looked more robust and Evans and Gregory and a huge improvement up front. Pity they couldn't keep DKD as well but budget wise that probably wouldn't have been possible.

You can see why they are doing well this season. Particularly with half the teams in league one being all about making short passes between defence and midfield all game.

Rode our luck a bit with the one off the bar but still only one save of note from Okonkwo. Seen that game many times at home and we always get it done in the end, home record is insane. Tactical we are happy to sit in against these teams who pass the ball to death but fuck me we've nothing when it turns into a counter attack. No proper dribbling at pace anywhere in the side really, that one where Palmer was running with it looked like a loose horse going wild at the Grand National.

Attack still looks so poor, got no change from the Mansfield centre backs all game. Bodvarsson and Rathbone were good when they came on and helped settle us down. Subbing Mullin instead of Palmer was a weird one though unless it was to combat those big brutes they chucked on.

60 wins from 75 league games at the Racecourse under Parky. He couldn't get it done once again but Clough can't ask anymore of his players after that, they ran a million miles pressing us all over the pitch.

Barnett is quality and I'm not one of those so blind to think that we can't lose him, he needs to be adding those goals to his game to take the next step.

Same as the games against Mansfield last season. They dominate possession. We get the result, Clough blames the ref.

Ref was giving some bizarre fouls for fuck all but no fouls when people nearly have their tops off.
Did they deserve atleast a point? Yes but we should of killed the game. Palmer open goal. Mullin 1 on 1.
