Well... we have to back our home form and get a win against Port Vale... would be a big win too, strange how their season has gone since we beat them at Vale Park oh so long ago now.

Back then HMS PTL was still under full steam and we were showing some good signs after a poor start to the season. When we beat them it was seen as a big demonstration that we might actually be good enough to challenge for a playoff place. Since then their form fell off a cliff, their sacked their manager, and their fans spent much of the season convinced they were going down. Since then we continued on good form past merely hoping we could trouble the playoffs, and at one point were title favourites.

But then we collapse while Port Vale bounce back, not much in the season left for Port Vale besides continuing their good form, we're back in the same situation where a win would not be expected but if we do it would be massive in terms of maybe making the playoffs.

I’d like to think we’ve got atleast one more win in us, probably not against Stevenage though.

The CTFC Derby on Friday.

Crawley got given a footballing lesson in the reverse fixture...how to set up and play to your strengths. Yeah, Tozzer's tosses caused us problems but it was more than that. All round better than us.

To change that around we will have to play a lot better than we have been doing. I can't see the Robins missing the chances Bradford (and to a lesser extent Southend) missed. We will need to tighten our midfield but still play when we get the chance but, going on the first game, if we manage to grab a point I'd be happy.

Hard to say how we will approach games now, so we try new things and players like Pope and McKirdy yet or do we keep going until mathematically impossible to make the play offs.

More importantly a win here would mean a 128 year old record is equalled of consecutive wins in the same season (7). Think Clarke might go full pelt for that record as still have 4 after to tinker if we lose it.

Be a tough tie, probably a draw which doesn’t get us the record and doesn’t really help Carlisle either. 1-1 Guthrie.

I may not even watch this, I am so annoyed with our throwing away the season.

Southend 17/4. I'd get on that if I were you.

I would guess there is more chance than not that our winning run ends on Saturday. They are obviously far more in need of points than we are.

With Manny now moving on this has to be the time that Taylor or Burgess try and grasp that opportunity. Given they are under contract next season they should both be pulling out all stops to get at the top of DC’s thoughts next year.

I think this might be the game we see Harry McKirdy get a run out also. How he’d fit into the lineup if we were going 3-5-2 I don’t know but nothing to lose at this point with him.

Apart from the Tranmere game, our performances lately have been disgraceful.

We have a ridiculous injury list which makes it hard to compete but that doesn't excuse the lack of effort and inability to pass the ball 5 yards which we are currently seeing.

We need to play a hell of a lot better if we want to pick up anymore points this season.

Am I reading that right Bolton at 11/10 to beat us?

I no longer gamble but with those odds I really wish I did, we will put up our usual fight (please feel free to come up with any Stefan Payne jokes here) and effort but I still can’t see anything other than a Bolton win, albeit probably by just the odd goal.

This would all but relegate us...and a tenner pays about £90. Worth it just to potentially soften the blow. I went for a hike last Saturday morning and didn't make it back for the match. Best Saturday in ages. Will do it again this weekend. Done with watching us this season.

Thing is, you're only one place outside the play off positions with five games to play.

I'd take that sort of throwing away a season.

He might go 4-4-2 with Guthrie and Theo up top if Monty is back along with Gibbo.

I think he will go for the record because he likes that stuff and if we lose or draw make changes for Barrow.

Be a toughy, personally would like to get to 60 by seasons end so 2 wins a draw and 2 losses would do, this is probably our hardest fixture left on paper. Three of the bottom 5 and Bradford at home the others.

Would be nice to keep the unbeaten run going even if we can’t get the win mind. Was a tough game at home although if we score the pen or Shitehead could be arsed to stick a foot out for the rebound we probably win it. God if he does make a change to see and gives Shitehead a run out Carlisle have been given a massive advantage over their rivals facing him twice in a season!

True but Exeter’s play off record is about as impressive as ours was in the National League so I can understand his feelings there.

Sounds like our manager has fallen out with a few of the actual fit players due to their unprofessional in preparing for last night's game.

Saturday could get brutal

If we win on Friday I'll be starting to celebrate, which means we'll almost certainly lose.

Yeah, I'm definitely not counting my chickens. I don't think our record is much cop at Crawley either.

don't worry - you'll win Saturday and get enough points in the following 4 games to be in the play offs with 1 game to go - just so we can beat you last game get revenge for 1972 and ruin Devon Lad's summer by knocking you out of the play offs.

We've simply got to win or we're gonna end up pissing into the wind for the rest of the season.

Barrow would likely be happy with a draw, they're 95% safe and 5 points in a week for them would leave them with the job done for the season and the chance to relax.

We're jekyll and Hyde, been hard to beat up until Tuesday when both ourselves and Harrogate put on a defensive disaster class on an awful pitch. But on Tuesday in the second half we did attack with alot more intend and IMO anyway from our perspective should've nicked it at the end with the best chance. Barrow have picked up impressive results this week, so think it will be a draw. We've only put in one good performance at home for 3 months.

Going to go to Orient to try to win - so will probably end up drawing. As most people havn't noticed we are 2nd in the last 10 games form table with 20 points (only Bolton with 23 have more). A win however coupled with Southend and Grimsby defeats means we are 99.999% safe and could only go down on goal difference and ours is about 25 better than both those teams.

Exactly, so on that evidence how are we going to win 4 games?

I think the fat lady will have sung in the next 7 days, a fate I’ve accepted and I’d almost prefer to lose on Saturday rather than draw and prolong things further.

even if you and Southend both lose Saturday and we win you will still be able to catch us, Mansfield and Colchester - so you'll suffer for a bit longer yet.....

None of us are suffering as we’ve all accepted relegation already.
