None of us are suffering as we’ve all accepted relegation already.
IF you do go down you'll be fine - at least you know how to get back out of the National League - just sign an Andy Cook type player....

Going to go to Orient to try to win - so will probably end up drawing. As most people havn't noticed we are 2nd in the last 10 games form table with 20 points (only Bolton with 23 have more). A win however coupled with Southend and Grimsby defeats means we are 99.999% safe and could only go down on goal difference and ours is about 25 better than both those teams.
Be quiet, you're 100% safe now, only 3 teams in the relegation picture. I've been researching drinking establishments in Kings Lynn and Altrincham since October. Only silver lining would be if Grimsby can get their act together and send Colchester with us.

having just watched the Harrogate v Orient highlights my question is;-
did the Orient keeper just have an off day - or is he usually that bad - the only good thing he did was save the penalty....

Had two awful games in a row but he’s streets ahead of anyone else in our Player Of The Season race. Hladky at Nerdy Too FC is a better shot-stopper but Vigouroux is hands-down the best all-round keeper in the division. Probably knows he’s off to League One in the summer so he might have stopped giving a toss.

We’ve just run out of steam this season. Too many injuries in forward areas and probably overall lacking enough quality to be much higher than we are. Expect we’ll just stroll about and try to win by hypnotically passing it sideways in the hope of putting you to sleep.

Only reason Orient win games is that they have a forward who anticipates back passes ment for the opposition’s goalkeeper.

If Vigs had the right mentality he would be playing a lot higher than league 2. He was loved at Swindon but was seen as a bit of a clown by opposition fans as he liked to wind up the opposition supporters and gee up the home fans etc. He is a good shot-stopper, commanding in the box and good with the ball at his feet and has great distribution. As a keeper he has all the tools to be able to play at least in the Championship. You don't get to be picked for the Chilean National team if you are not decent. However I think what's in his head lets him down. It will be interesting to see where he goes next.

Well the goal machine team has a day out at the seaside we score plenty ( 9 in last 2 games 49 shots 29 on target ) let’s not mention our defence against a morecambe side that has had a great season so probably 0-0 or 1-0 either way

I have a soft spot for tomorrow's opponents Harrogate Town. Lovely local town to visit, just a shame no fans allowed, would have been a great day out there for us and we would have been able to fill their ground twice over if their ground was big enough.

They did a job on us live on Sky earlier this season at Valley Parade, so hopefully revenge tomorrow.

Our last visit there for a pre-season friendly 3 years ago ended up with Harrogate beating a Bradford City side comprising of youth players and trialists 7-2!

Seems Jamille Matt will be assisting Jimmy Ball tomorrow.

Don’t really know what to expect, same group of players so same issues in attack I would think, but sometimes a new voice can give you a bit of a bounce so we might stand a decent chance of a win, Scunthorpe aren’t great apparently so are beatable if we can find some confidence.

Could do with a win against Salford to consolidate our play off position. Just can’t see where the goals are going to come from though.

This is our 8th must win game in a row. We’ll drop points and probably still be in spitting distance of the play offs.

Haven’t seen a lot of him tbh but his distribution in the most recent game against us was shocking. I really wasn’t impressed but all players have off games. Seen a few posts on here in last few months saying Vigoroux has had a shocker today or was at fault for a goal etc. Doesn’t sound very consistent?

But as I say I haven’t seen him a lot, just what has been said in recent months. We will probably be in the market for a new gk whichever league we are in.

For me from highlights, 4/5 live games and save percentage stats etc Salford’s gk Hladky is the best in the league. They’d be bottom half without him this season and defo wouldn’t have won the JPT.

I think this might be the game we see Harry McKirdy get a run out also. How he’d fit into the lineup if we were going 3-5-2 I don’t know but nothing to lose at this point with him.

I saw on your forum that he's become the talking point in the match thread, and that he was described as having a point to prove to both managers.

Think the tale of his time with us has been misrepresented in Burslem a wee bit. Whether Beech had words behind the scenes about his attitude I don't know, though it was nowhere near as big an issue for us as it sounds like it is at Vale. We wanted to keep him, he was our top scorer, but he told us under no circumstances would he be signing a new deal at Carlisle.

If he plays in this game and acts like he has some sort of axe to grind with us then he's more of a twerp than either of us knew.

Orient keeper barely had a shot to save in our home game and looked flaky during our win in E London. Can’t say have noticed any standout keepers in L2 though will get to watch Salford’s tomorrow. If current form is any guide, he won’t be tested much.

Keith Hill’s failure to try anything innovative in the last two games has turned this into a must win game. Hint in the pre-match about change in tactics/personnel, may have come too late, we’ll see.

Don't get me wrong, he wasn't perfect by any stretch but generally his distribution used to be a good weapon for us so quite surprising to read it was off against you. At the time when we liked to play it out from the back he was ideal as a ball playing keeper. Lets just say I saw him have more good games for us than bad ones and I'd have him back in a heart beat. I'm not convinced his heart is probably in it at this level.

His save percentage is nearly 79% (111 saves from 141 shots in target against). Put into context... vigoroux is 72.7% (101 saves from 139 on target which means he’s obviously a very good gk despite a few mistakes etc), Scott Davies is 68%, Gilks 74%. I know shot save percentages don’t mean everything but hes a top goalkeeper, you can see why Salford waited so long for him last summer as he was their first choice by a mile.

Yeah I don’t think you get many perfect goalkeepers at this level tbf haha. That’s fair enough. You’re probably right ... a lot of the difference between a good gk and a great one isn’t really that natural ability. It’s mentality and concentration. Maybe he would want it more further up the leagues.

Lawrence Vigouroux's drop kick distribution is probably the best at this level from what I've seen, his recent assist for the winning goal in our 1-0 win at Carlisle is a fine example of how good his kicking can be:

From 1.23

If he doesn't do that, we don't create the chance and score the goal. He does this often to setup counters and they're usually very accurate.

Yeah that’s a cracking kick to be fair. Against us he was more struggling with the pass backs from centre backs with us pressing him than out of his hands

I'm quite looking forward to the game tomorrow, which hasn't been the case for several weeks...especially when we couldn't score and the wheels started coming off.

Like you I haven't a clue what to expect, I hope the players will be told to try and get the ball in the box a little quicker and not dick around so much at the back...but with the same players it is hard to see how much different things can be. Ask me again after the final whistle!

Look, I’m usually one of the more optimistic fans and whilst we have the best home record in the league, even I can’t ignore the undeniable fact that Port Vale are the most in form team in the country. Therefore with all the optimism in the world, I still can’t see how this is going to go any way other than a Port Vale victory.

Carlisle United 1-3 Port Vale

I know we don’t really have much chance of catching Cheltenham (or even staying ahead of Bolton on their current form) but a Crawley win tonight would keep it interesting for all of us. Honestly, I’ve always had a soft spot for Crawley, going back to their EVANS days.

Pretty even first half, one good chance for each team. We've had a lot of the ball but not created much. One goal might be enough either way based on that half.
