Rovers come into the game unbeaten in 8 games, including draws with 4 of the top 5, after a good win at Oxford last weekend.Southend have been in fine form but seem to be wobbling a bit recently.
With Ollie Clarke picking up his 10th booking at Oxford, he will miss the next two games.

I'm confident, as any fan of a team with the home record we have over the last two/three years would be, but we can't keep relying on midfield goals. I feel we may need one of our strikers to score if we are to win, and that's our biggest question mark atm. So I'll go for a tight 1-1 that doesn't really help either club at this stage of the season.

Fuck me. If you think Rovers have upset the Oxford apple cart then you should talk to the away fans today. We have beaten Southend once in our last 432 games against them, and that was in the tinpot trophy, so we still lost.

I like Bristol R. And Bristol generally. But a) you're all quite needy and b) you talk funny.

We started very quickly and then just sponged up pressure for the whole of the 2nd half.
Ref was pathetic.
Great 3 points, another clean sheet, unbeaten in 9.
Next four games: Bury (A), Chesterfield (H), Coventry (A) and Shrewsbury (H).

Three games in a row we've been well off the pace first half, team needs a shake up.

Couple of good strikes for the goals, can do without teams pinging those in against us over next 10 games.

Have to be honest, seemed very comfortable. Early goal really helped but even still there wasn't many times if it all we were threatened, even for a lot of Southend possession. Ranger looked their biggest threat when he came on but too regular hoofing the ball to him, fortune should never have been taken off in the first for Southend. Two lovely goals for us.

Well, I went to a Southend game. Pathetic performance. No cohesion, crap passing, the main players at fault for that shambles, Atkinson, wordsworth and timlin. 3 midfielders who seemed to just be roaming about wherever they wanted, meaning that when Rovers had the ball they looked as stunned as the away support as to where any of the opposition actually were. Did we actually win a contested header in that first half either?
Much better second half, ranger by far the best player Southend have, but if we were still playing now we wouldnt have scored.
Bar demetriou nobody could cross either, how many corners did we have? 50 or so, shocking delivery for 99% of them.
Credit brown for the changes early to try and do something, no credit for how they lined up to start, or bringing Robinson on to play as a right winger before finally becoming a striker 1 minute before the end.
Anyway had a great day in Bristol, I'm still here and I met Aber g. Hope Rovers snatch a playoff berth now and win them.

Thought we were excellent in the first half. Southend rarely threatened and we looked like scoring almost every time we came forward. Two great goals and plenty of other chances. We could easily have had 3 or 4 at half time.

We had 3 on 1 midway through the half but Gaffney decided to go alone instead of putting one on a plate for Bodin or James. Montano was twice through on goal at an angle, firing the first wide and seeing the second brilliantly saved by the keeper. Lines could have done better with a free shot from 18 yards and Gaffney saw a volley from 6 yards blocked on the line.

We started the second half the same way with Gaffney forcing a superb save from the keeper with a curling effort destined for the top corner and James saw his deflected shot hit the inside of the post and roll across the line.

Southend got into the game more after the hour mark an put us under some sustained pressure for the first time in the match but apart from one headed opportunity and a free kick they never really looked like scoring.
