They're using the account @heedfcofficial and pumped out this statement.

That letter could have been written by Mad Terry Smith who sold our club to Steven Vaughan. At least SV got us back into the league for 5 seasons before it all went tits up. I suppose Aldershot could get a reprieve out of this.

Give it a rest you cock end.

Why? They've had 10 unearned years in this league, at the expense of real football clubs who run themselves properly but couldn't hope to generate the sort cash that was being chucked into this shell of a club, that belongs in a regional league, at best. At one time the chairman was throwing in cash that would have needed gates of 3000 to generate through the turnstiles, at a time when they were drawing 600. They've had a good run on someone elses money. Time to look in the mirror and face up to who they really are.

Our “owner” Ranjan was on the radio this morning apparently:
- Only a small group of 20-30 fans are wanting to start a new club
- The club is debt free (rumoured debt is about 200k after the last of their bond with the league is released)
- As the club is debt free and they’ve cut costs then the club is now not worth £1 and is worth a price
- They have a fantastic relationship with the league and council
- they will be playing at the international stadium next year
-They have appointed 2 fantastic new directors as Harrop brings a lot of experience

Has he even read his own statement??

Anybody who describes "Nigel Harrop as a fantastic director" needs their heading looking at quite frankly.

As are Ebbsfleet at 149.

Is it actual winding up, or an admin final warning type thing?

Not sure to be honest, I imagine given the lack of press coverage that all cased will either be thrown out, or they will be given more time to sort everything out.

I would be interested to know if its HMRC or another party (both Ebbsfleet and Gateshead players still havent been paid)

Sounds like Gateshead found some money to pay HMRC. Ebbsfleet managed to get some more time to raid their piggy banks

Got to be very wary about forming a new club whilst the old one is still extant. Could easily end up with another Northwich situation (maybe Enfield? I don't know much about the latter, sorry). Do what you can do protest the current administration, boycott if you want, but splitting up the fanbase is just shooting yourselves in the foot.

Problem for Gateshead fans is that there's no knowing how long Varghese and Cala are going to cling on for. The sense of helplessness must be infuriating for the fans so I can't blame them for wanting to have a go themselves. In Northwich's case it took over a decade for their rogue owner to go away - the fans were probably right not to hold on for as long as that.

Re. Enfield the breakaway didn't really do any damage, that was all done before. Nearly all their fans deserted the old club, which clung on for a while and then went under, before bizarrely the handful of people still involved at the old club set up their own phoenix, which is still plugging away at step 5 many miles away from Enfield with barely any fans. The breakaway's failure to rise beyond step 3 is mainly due to them being self-funding and not bankrolled.

Oh, I know how infuriating it can be; County have had more than our fair of bad owners, including proper dodgy characters. My point is that while it's clear the club is being run in an exploited manner, it's not clear what would happen to it long term. Even if the owners wring out every penny they can and then do a runner, there'd still be a football club with a league place, which is enough for some potential investors to take a punt on. Hey presto, two clubs, one followed by rebels who feel they're the spiritual continuation, and the original club whose remaining fans resent the other lot for not sticking through thick & thin, and zero chance of any reconciliation between the two. As I say, another Northwich.

Starting a new club should only be for resurrection, not for protest.

Nigel Harrop and Trevor Clark have termination of appointments again their names at Gateshead’s Companies House record. Another twist in a never-ending tale?

Is this a good or bad thing for Gateshead? Not sure if those directors were the problem

Chris & Bill have now pulled out of any deal to buy the club as it will cost too much to pay the creditors

It’s your lucky year Aldershot you will definitely be reprieved, the club has until Wednesday to have a ground and budget in place and there’s no chance that will happen

Do you mind explaining the Wednesday deadline? Has that been set by the NL?

I hope it works out somehow but a phoenix club is now looking the best way forward for everyone.

We announced on Tuesday that our new manager would be appointed at the end of this week, so I have a feeling Shahid has known about the Wednesday deadline for a while.

Heedarmy - no chance of an 11th hour saviour? Even though i'd prefer us to stay up, i'd much rather you didnt go under

Personally I don’t think so. One member of staff still hasn’t been paid and no one will be stupid enough to buy a club with over 200k of debt and no stadium.

Phoenix club is only the way to go and we will go back down to our more natural level of northern league

The FA should be disgusted in themselves along with our previous owners who sold the club to the first person who would buy us.

Apparently Joe Cala tried to buy us and failed the fit and proper test and then Ranjan Varghese bought us with Joe Cala as their “Financial Advisor”

No supporter believes that for a second and everyone thinks Joe Cala is the real owner who is putting money in.

We can only hope the FA learn from this and stop anything similar in the future but it won’t as the only league they care about is the Premier League

Much as I sympathise with Gateshead fans, the best thing the FA and NL could do is stop sugar daddy subsidised clubs.

Looks like Gateshead have two days to raise £95,000 to pay off creditors.

Gateshead FC Soul Statement on 20th May 2019

After the understandable withdrawal of Chris Dunphys’ offer to purchase the club on Friday, the Gateshead Soul wish to make the following Statement:

The ‘Club’ as we see it are in a perilous position and are on a life support machine. Yet, our objective of maintaining football in Gateshead has not wavered. This is in spite of the many obstacles that have been placed in front of us from varying authorities. But, despite our best efforts the unrealistic time frames forced upon us cannot be met.

This relates to servicing the current creditors to the tune of £95k by Wednesday 22nd May, a deadline which was set by the National League. The obvious solution, would be for the National League to waive this requirement up until the purchase was completed, and then to release the remaining bond (£100k) to allow the new owners to operate with a blank canvas. However, the National League did not see this as an option.

That ‘Club’ in our eyes, unless a buyer is sought by Wednesday will cease to exist within a matter of weeks if not days. No ground, staff, directors, players and more importantly, no fans.

So what have we done?

For the past few weeks we've been putting the foundations in place for a potential phoenix club should the worst happen. However, we've suddenly been presented with an urgent opportunity to get our club back. This is something we hadn't anticipated but since the end of last week, Gateshead Soul, in conjunction with other Stakeholders and generous fans have managed to raise £45k towards the payment of those creditors

All payments have been pledged as gifts or loans and will be repaid on the return of the Bond, which cannot be accessed by the previous regime.

This is our last throw of the dice before we face the prospect of the worst case scenario of starting again at Step 7. So, if there are any fans, business persons or potential contributors that wish to come onboard to help in any way you can to help raise the shortfall, then please answer this SOS by getting in touch ASAP via email at gfcsoul@gmail.com or via any of our social media platforms.

Gateshead fans - how likely is it that you are going to be able to raise the 95k?
