Worked on us didn’t it though. Easy way to intimidate us, you could see Bree and a few others visibly not fancying it. Have to credit LuaLua though - bet he’s feeling sore today with the treatment he got!

Gardner was pretty lucky to be still on the pitch when he scored - textbook yellow card chopping down LuaLua while we had a counter on that he got away with only a few minutes before being actually booked.

Affirm. We don't have a billionaire propping us up as their own play thing.

Even without the billionaire/millionaire though, we should be doing better than give it to LuaLua to try and win a free kick, or knock it long for Cornick to chase surely?

The recruitments been a joke and in my view it all issues begin from there. The recent complaints about it have been a little embarrassing from Jones in my view. Saw a tweet that put it quite succinctly (if a little glibly) I thought:

We’ve taken our trolly round Waitrose, then acted surprised when it’s been totalled at the till.

We have gone out and targeted the wrong players, because Jones wants "championship experience". We have tried to fight for players we could never compete with others to afford, rather than understand that we cant go for those players and need to be a bit smarter about things. We signed Jack Stacey for what 80k? You dont need loads of money if you are smart with the market. We used to be that, but for whatever reason have gone away from the model that brought us success.

Preston (and I know even they are more wealthy us but its still a valid example) when initially at this level had a thing for going for League of Ireland players as example. Barkhuizen was a cheap deal off Morecambe for intance. Accroding to wikipedia Daniel Johnson was 50k from Villa. We can afford that so why arent looking at things like that rather than moaning in the media about how much Championship reserve players are on?

We have managed the season extremely, extremely badly billionaire or not. We have been incredibly naive.

Yep... no sugar daddy here...
Just to make a point

Our starting XI yesterday cost us
Dawson - academy
Urgohide - academy
Borner - free
Iorfa - 200k
Fox - 600k
Reach - 5m apparently
Lee - free
Bannan - free
Luongo - £1m rumour
Murphy - loan
Winnall - £1.5m

Barring the price of Reach, that's not much in terms of spending, in fact 8.3m for the lot is cheap.

It's how you recruit, ours has still been wank to be honest in some areas.

Thanks for helping my point. The unspoken factor is wages of course, even not signing Sluga for his 1m price and going for say Luongo of that list instead, no way could we afford what he is on, so lets not try and get those players!

I had a look at Preston as I thought they were probably most similar to us and its really interesting. Those 2 I mentioned already and add Daniel Johnson was 50k apparently, Maguire from Ireland (hes actually from Luton ive just found out which underscores it a bit more!), Browne the same and cheap, Pearson 120k apparently. We could afford those players and that team when they were signed by Preston. We should be looking for similar value and similar types of player than chasing Bailey Wright or whoever then moaning about his wages being too much for us.

The budget stuff IS a valid complaint so learn and dont go into your second window and still target that same type of player you couldnt get before! Its too late now anyway, this should have been realised in the summer.

Was Iorfa only £200k? Bargain. Some good recruitment in that list.

Good. They thought they were geniuses spending all that money but getting away with it cos Mel Morris was the second coming of Stephen Hawking. Turns out he’s a spiv, just the same as every other dodgy owner in this league and he lied to the fans.

Hope they get a points deduction, least they deserve

It'll be interesting either way seeing as he's on the EFL Board.

Think this is going to drag on a bit.

If the EFL's valuation is passed over ours then fair doo's, we should pick up the pieces. I haven't got a scooby when it comes to our accounts but from the numbers being thrown around on our forums it might not look too bad tbh. Got a sneaky feeling we'll be alright, don't know why. Especially after our luck this year.

Good old Derby kicking 1FF back into life.

Tbf Luton were punished very strongly by the EFL when they broke rules.

Basciskky relegated 2 divisions .
