BVB may have been bookies favourites for that but it was hardly a surprise Wolfsburg won it comfortably, lets be honest.

Ascues not even in subs. Hope Bayern batter them for that.

1-0 if Costa shoots there instead of trying to find Lewa.

Awful stuff from Neuer and De Bruyne there.

Alonso's penalty was awful.

Good to see Wolfsburg win.

next weekend will be the kick-off for the DFB-Pokal.

anyway: the winner of the 1960 cup was Borussia München Gladbach. the city was renamed to the local dialect in the 60s to Mönchengladbach

No great surprises in the opening 3 games of the Pokal although Augsburg needed extra-time to get rid of Elversberg.

This Geis guy is fantastic, his free kicks are ending so often in goal celebrations.

if we could keep our midfield for 3 or more years together, we would have one of the best midfields in europe

Geis Goretzka

Draxler Meyer Sanè

Yes looks like Schalke mean business this season. The top 4 race is going to be fascinating!

1860 have knocked out Hoffenheim 2-0. The sole top tier scalp of the day! Even Bremen progressed!

crazy match in Reutlingen were Reutlingen (5th level) has beaten Karlsruhe 3:1. all goals for the hosts came from the spot and Karlsruhe had three sent-offs.

Indeed - it's a big 'if' though, especially with the way the Premier League is just grabbing anything and everything these days.

Can't wait for this to kick off again - imagine Bayern will win with relative ease again but the rest of the top 4 looks intriguing - Leverkusen, Gladbach, Wolfsburg, Dortmund and Schalke all have shouts.

i don't think it will be a walk in the park for munich again. my favourites are Wolfsburg, Leverkusen and Schalke to challenge them, in that order.

Wolfsburg got a strong squad, Leverkusen a well grown and Schalke a young and motivated one.

See Dortmund fans are looking at boycotting their game at Hoffenheim over the ticket prices. 55€ for a seat…

:(

Can't see this turning out to something good. Dortmund have such a fan base that supporters will pay that price to be in the away end. Sad but true.

Crazy - is the Buli heading towards the way the PL is run, purely in order to compete?

Long way to go yet. Germany have ultras who basically tell the fans what to do. Many Buli Zwei teams call boycotts at RB Leipzig and they are very well respected. Dortmund is different kettle of fish though. They'll have the bandwagon twats who'll do anything to get to a Dortmund game (like us!).

A German cup game was suspended after the ref was hit on the head by a lighter thrown from the stands.

Tut tut.

We just thought the German league was a bastion of everything that is right and proper in the footballing universe, this talk about rising ticket prices and fans throwing missiles from the stands is truly, truly shocking and disappointing.

Blooming German hooligans and money grabbers.

I cannot wait for this to restart this weekend!

Bayern will comfortably smash Hamburg into next week - wouldn't be at all surprised if they rack up 6/7 goals there. Hamburg have somehow contrived to start this season even worse than they ended the last one, with the loss to Jena last weekend.

Game of the weekend is at BVB where Tuchel makes his league home bow against fellow Borussia rivals, Gladbach. Should be an exciting game. Hertha travel to Augsburg, who will be hoping for a similar season to the last one, but I expect they'll struggle to achieve those heights again this time around.

Andre Breitenreiter takes his Schalke side to Bremen. A tough start for SO4 however, as Bremen were solid at home last season once Viktor Skripnik took charge. Leverkusen host Hoffenheim, while Wolfsburg welcome Frankfurt. The new boys of Darmstadt and Ingolstadt have winnable starts - Darmstadt welcome last seasons strugglers Hannover, while Ingolstadt have the trickier task of going to Mainz. Finally Koln travel to Stuttgart, who will be hoping for a big improvement after last seasons late survival job.
