Nothing comes after, I hope that helps.
This is the problem, I think and believe too that nothing comes after. But my brain concocts ways in which nothing does come after and imagines what that would be like - even when that literally makes no sense!

I watched something on telly once.

No there's more. Basically when lying on your back, start with your toes and stretch/clench, then your leg muscles working your way slowly up to the shoulders one set of muscles at a time. Clench muscle and hold for 2-3 seconds and release. should take a while but usually works for me.

Yes, that one usually works for me, but I was told to go above the shoulders to include neck, face and forehead, and hold for 10 seconds at a time. I don't think I've ever got past 3 laps of the body.

It's the waking up for a piss that gets me.

If getting to sleep is causing you major probs, see your doc mate. I was prescribed a drug called "zopiclone" when I had weeks of insomnia. You literally take it and 10 mins later you're in deep sleep. Only problem is they are addictive and GP's are reluctant to prescribe them. Also you can't operate machinery and the like as they can make you feel drousy the next day

I'm a good sleeper thankfully. I like to drop off with some noise in the background though...so I put some familiar comedy on the tv or something and a sleep timer so it turns off automatically.

I'm one for exercise in the day then leave my phone alone for an hour before bed and read...briefly check phone messages and I'm off pretty swiftly.

After alcohol its another story though.

There HAS to be something to create our consciousness.......enjoy your life and look forward to the next one too..*

My dad was on zopiclone for years, and I remember telling him once I couldn't get to sleep for about 4 days, and he gave me one of them. Fuck me it was powerful, it was the smallest tablet I've ever took as well, but within 15 mins of taking it, I felt almost drunk and just wanted to sleep. Woke up about 10 hours later refreshed. Only took it the once but it did the job. Last couple of days have been better, probably had 9 hours a day over then, but it will be quashed a bit today as I need to be up early to get a new tyre for the car and the muppets up the stairs have their grandkids in who run back and forth for hours.

Watch an England match at any point since Hodgson has been in charge, always does the trick for me regardless of whether I'm tired or not to be honest.

Just concentrate on your breathing and every time your mind wanders onto another thought just pull yourself out of it and go back to your breathing. The mind naturally wanders but if you continue to pull your mind back, eventually you will switch off. Even if you don't get to sleep it's very relaxing and you'll get some rest from it.

This has worked brilliantly for me since I read this post, seriously. Cheers, Rene.

If I'm struggling to relax I have the earphones in and youtube the sound of monsoon rain or ocean waves, find it soothing. Otherwise I'll be reading or listen to podcasts, really struggle to nod off when it's completely silent as I'd start noticing things like the clock in the next room and it bugs the shit outa me. Also always have the fan running no matter what the season, been doing it since I was little so my brain probably associates the sound of it to knockout time. Makes being under the covers feel more cosier too.
