It's not bloody El Glosico and a pox on anyone who calls it such.

Not quite the cup final we thought it would be with us being able to win the Mid-Table Cup only and FGR desperate for points to get away from the drop zone. I expect our players to be up for it though because there will actually be a decent number in, although apparently only 500 FGR tickets have been sold so far.

I make no secret of the fact I hate what FGR have become having had a soft-spot for them before Dale Vince took over, and I would love for us to beat them this week and put them in real danger of going down - with that being said, whenever we play them we draw so I'll go for 1-1.

Our team is likely to be as follows:

Flinders

Moore - Boyle - Grimes - Ilias

Dawson - Atangana - Winchester - Morrell - Pell

Eisa

Sales haven't been brilliant so far, somewhere betwenn 5-600 so far but It's partly down to the exceptionally tinpot way our club have handled sales. Firstly it is not possible to buy online, you have to do it over the phone, which you have to ring about 5 times before you actually get through to anyone.

Great way to put people off.

Anyway, got a slight feeling that we might SHOCK THE WORLD and RIP THE ROBINS TO SHREDS on Saturday. You never know....

That is indeed true, the first time I heard that name being used was when we played Gloucester City in the FA Cup a few seasons ago.

When was last time FGR won away, I think it about 11 or 12.
Therefore not promising but ElGlosico matches always seem to end up as draws which would suit the away team.
Earlier in season Cheltenham should have won game at TNL so they will be out to put that right.
Their style of hoofball will seriously undermine FGR who don't seem to play well against that style of play.

Too late to complain about name. ElGlosico has entered everyday speak, certainly in the Gloucestershire area. Besides it is a shortcut way of saying 'Cheltenham v FGR'.

Sales very disappointing [so far]. Suspect as Chris has said that having the match all ticket has lessened enthusiasm from numbers wanting to go. And also there are no trains running at weekend which I know has stopped quite a few supporters from bothering to attend match.

When we played Shortwood a couple of years back, some were calling it "El Nailsico" :ffs:

Take it you haven't seen us play for a while then? We've played some top stuff recently and it's worked particularly well against teams who come at us and play attacking football, which is how FGR will try to play from what I gather. Like most others I'm predicting a draw though just because of the nature of the match.

A few of our guys watched Carlisle at WR and said that Cheltenham did not pose a threat although they have scored a hatful of goals of late.
I read that Cheltenham fans never know which team is up for job on day - same as FGR.

Heavy betting on a home win but the ElGlosico games have all ended in draws in recent years.
Who knows, FGR have had real setbacks this season and then had good results straight afterwards. A draw would be a good result for away team.

Thought our retro hoolie wannabes at least had the decency to meet in out-of-the-way car-parks for their foolishness. Kids today.

Been pretty even but a cracking finish from Doidge tbf. Looks like quite a few fgr fans been kicked out for celebrating on the pitch

Our commentary making it sound like a couple of yours aren't quite firing yet so if Johnson gees them up you should have more to give. Squeaky bum time, just hope we don't try to sit back because we can't.

Really enjoyed spending 45 minutes watching the fgr keeper hold onto the ball and pretend to have cramp. Fair play. Cretinous little c***

Not normally one for that sort of shithousery but three points any way we can at this point in proceedings and I'm afraid I'll take it.

Of course, don't really blame you as every team does it to some extent but this was a little ridiculous. Ref did nothing about it though so why wouldn't you carry on?

Suppose at least it was a bit of quality won it. Eisa sounded isolated for far too long to get into it.
Only real bit of quality in the game. Eisa forced one really good save second half but otherwise couldn't really get into it.

Firstly I'd like to apologise to Chesterfield, Barnet and Grimsby because what Cheltenham served up today was a fucking disgrace.

Regardless of the fact it's a derby, we're playing a team who are shit away from home and we basically let them do whatever they wanted. Bradley Collins was tested once today, the only time Eisa got the ball facing goal, other than that he had simple catches. I don't blame him or FGR for time-wasting, it's down to the referee to crack down on it, and he was clearly very weak.

A minority of fans have been calling for Johnson's head for some time now - today was the first time I questioned whether or not he should be here after the summer because he was bloody clueless today. A blind man could see Eisa was isolated up front, but it took until the 68th minute for Johnson to do something about it.

With Johnson in charge, we may well be knocked off our perch as Gloucestershire's number one team next season - and the Bristol clubs don't count, Bristol is not in Gloucestershire even if the clubs play under the GFA banner. In 1982/83 Gloucester City were in the Southern League Premier Division whilst we were in the Southern League Midland Division.

No need to apologise. FGR were better team on day.
The three clubs you mention still have games left to escape relegation. Their survival is still in their own hands.
FGR winning ElGlosico has not altered their chances. The bookies had already removed FGR to remote outsiders to be relegated.

Pwopa nawty. Lol. What a load of bollocks. Bit of handbags from a few kids. Same as the first game, GlosLive make it sound like Green Street and even the nationals pick it up. :ffs:

Seriously though, very happy with that effort, needed the win, wanted it more and got it. Cracking finish from Doidgey as well. Perfect day for us results-wise. Get in.

Just watched the highlights on Channel 5 and commentator refers to game as ElGlosico.

Well that's me convinced then :ffs:

I'll be glad when the season's over - we've been cruising since January and yesterday's "performance" really did take the piss.

To be fair, and add a bit of balance, whenever one of the Cheltenham players was fouled they went down looking like they may have sustained a career threatening injury...only to be running around like a lamb full of the joys of spring a couple of minutes later.

I am not condoning wasting time, or rolling around looking like you have been shot, but the referee appeared to do nothing about either so these things even themselves up.

Still smiling this morning!
