We're clearly only ever going to be a small club, best of all outcomes to my mind will be if the Vince era ends with us still owning our own ground wherever it is and a support base that can keep the club professional once we cut our cloth to our means again. First half of that very important and not a given is my worry.

I'm not convinced we will own any new stadium. No chairman lives forever and without the security of stadium ownership there has to be a huge concern for the football.

Like it or not, football is cyclical for the most part and FGR's natural level is not the EFL. Who will be the mugs still going week in, week out if the worst happens. I don't see the Ecotricity stooges (of which the new FGR poster here probably is) making the trip to some unheard of Chiltern village for a Hellenic League fixture.

We wouldn't end up in the Hellenic. We've grown too much. With our hardcore fanbase we could easily sustain a lower half National League, or at least a top half National South club. Providing we own our ground.

FGR might not be in debt Chris, but their alleged budget is likely to be higher than they can afford without Vince propping them up - ultimately that's the sort of thing that did for Rushden in the end. Look at the losses FGR have incurred in recent years, it’s clearly not sustainable (although I take on board the comments made by Vince that FGR look like being in the black for this financial year).

Not only that, but FGR were struggling to survive as a Conference team before Vince took over – yes the club has existed for 120 years before him, but if I remember correctly (and I am prepared to be corrected) they were very close to having to go part-time and considered voluntary relegation before he came in. And what if Vince called in all that he paid out before he goes?

You don’t need to spend loads of money to be successful, I agree – but it would definitely be a bumpy road.

Nevertheless, as I said before, I don’t see him going any time soon.

We existed for 120 years before Vince. Why wouldn't we cope if he leaves?

We aren't in debt.
You aren’t in debt because you’re being propped up by Dale Vince, I’d have thought this would be obvious. If Vince leaves you’ve got the same level of expenditure but suddenly you’ve lost your man plugging the gaping financial hole.

We''re going to be in the black for this financial year, apparently. If we can continue that trend then we aren't being propped up by Vince anymore.

A large amount of his investment has been via shares, and most of the rest has been written off against tax, as FGR are officially a subsidiary of Ecotricity, so he hasn't loaned the club a lot of money.

If he pulled out the only questions would be over existing contracts and ground ownership. If we own it, we'll be fine. If we're tenants, we're not.

Surely you (not you personally but fans) know that already?

Looking at the accounts for FGR

They seem to be losing £2m per year but is being converted to share capital. Total P&L account stands at £13m but is covered by £13m worth of shares.

Looking at the balance sheet there is £5m of debt but that is covered by the ground worth £2.5m and holding £2.5m in shares in a solar power company called Forest Green Sun.

So everything balances, only problem is if Dale isn’t there to convert loses each year into shares. The issue to watch is if this £5m debt is covered by a charge on the ground assets.

Perhaps I should not have mentioned attendances. The Cheltenham lot are very touchy about them.
All I will say that at the last Meet the Chairman meeting Dale V was plannjng for 3,500 average attendance within the next few years.

Our chairman was planning 10,000 crowds and Championship football... look how that’s turned out.

Didn’t Dale V also say promotion out of L2 would be easy?

NO.
He said it would be 'easier' than from Conference.
This has already been previously answered.

Anyway why are so interested in FGR?
Bury have got enough of their own problems than to try and look around for problems in other clubs.

I'm sure you're happy supporting your club and I am mine, so leave it there.

Are football fans not allowed to contribute discussion concerning other football clubs or something?

I'm done too!!

It's boring me and I am a passionate FGR fan, maybe UTS should get a season ticket at FGR, it would be an eye opener for him how much we love our football in this area, and a bit of a variety from the greyness and drizzle of Greater Manchester!!

Some lovely areas in Greater Manchester and just over the border in Lancashire.

Getting into League One will be "easy" for Forest Green, says owner Dale Vince after they reached the English Football League for the first time.

"Getting out of this league is so difficult, with just one automatic spot - and we're out," said Vince.

"Getting into League One, I do think will be easy. There are four slots."

Anyway what about the aftermath of ELGlosico.
I heard yesterday that Gary Johnson has lost the dressing room. Apparently Johnson had a physical stand-to with one of his players in the tunnel after game and that at least one player walked out of the dressing room when Johnson was talking to the team.
Another report said that he was also physical with one of the Cheltenham supporters.
My source said that the club [Cheltenham] have put Johnson under investigation.
Does not bode well for Johnson or Cheltenham.

Bloody hell, I've just read the FGR matchday programme and in the middle it says:
"Last Saturday's memorable victory was the first time that we have beaten The Robin's first-team since the 1929-30 season (we won 5-3), that's 87 years ago!
Cheltenham moved their first-team into the Birmingham Combination League in 1932 when they turned semi-professional for the first time, and our paths did not cross in the League from then until 1982 in the Southern League. "
Now boot on other foot. Cheltenham's first team have not beaten FGR since season 1998-99 in the Conference, that's 19 years ago!

Your 'source' is talking bollocks, a bit like you. It's weird how you don't have any actual evidence at all to back up anything you say, it's all 'my mate said this, my source said that'......

Don't be rude.
It was more than a few people told me that Gary Johnson has trouble in camp.
Perhaps they read it somewhere on a Cheltenham Twitter site, I know not.
And if unfounded so much the better for him and Cheltenham.

Most of what he's said has been on Twitter this week anyway, or reported on Glos Live in not so many words.

Johnson is not under investigation, nor will he be let go. The board have no desire to let him go and believe he's the man to take the club forward. Money was available in January, but Johnson chose not to spend it so as to have a bigger war chest this summer - they're not going to let him go unless we have a particularly poor start next season.
