It's that time of the year again where Graham Westley starts carping on that about play-off final, even though he manages Newport now, he'll probably work it into his team-talk down at Dave.

On paper this should be an easy win for us right? Stevenage haven't really set the division alight. However they had a decent win at (admittedly crap-at-home) Morecambe last time out, and their two recent home defeats have been against teams with very good away records. They've had some good wins at Broadhall Way. They beat Luton, and of course hammered Hartlepool 6-1.

I'm sure we'll be wary though, and professional. Think it'll be 2-0 Carlisle.

Stevenage, the only club I've seen use a centre mid as a target man.

Westley used a non-league centreback up front for us away at Sheffield Wednesday. Iain Hume sat on the bench.

Good old Aaron Brown, now he was proper shit.

A draw wouldn't be too bad a result, but hopefully we can get another win.

A first team player is set to miss 3 weeks with injury, hopefully not one of the vital players like Jones, but every player has played a key role this season. However this season we've got great squad depth.

Ha. In an interview with one of our podcasts Slade reckons Aaron Brown was his worst signing at Orient... I had a little laugh when he then moved to Preston.

I disagree about us having great squad depth. I think that is the main thing we're lacking. One or two injuries/suspensions and we have to turn to youth players to make up a match day squad.

This is why I'd sign McQueen right now. He can play right back, left back, and as a winger. Versatility is what you need from players when you have a small squad.

Perhaps the wrong phrase; our immediate back-up looks strong on paper. Crocombe, Brisley, Devitt, Wyke, Lambe etc. are great players to have in your squad, and I wouldn't worry if any of them started tomorrow. I do agree that some areas lack depth, but I think we've got several players who can do a job in a variety of positions.

Yeah I get what you mean now. To me depth means deep into the squad beyond our first 18. But yeah you're right we've gone for quality rather than quantity and when everyone is fit we have a very strong bench. Just not much beyond that.

I think a few teams are operating on small squads, I put it down to the new loan system bedding in, perhaps there were fewer decent players available late in the transfer window for adding strength in depth to a squad than some managers expected there to be, or just generally a change was made and nobody knew quite how the transfer market would react leaving some managers with smaller squads than they'd have liked to have.

We never do well against Carlisle, and I can't really see that changing today, 0-2.

Wyke in for suspended Miller.

Not the biggest fan of Wyke and Ibehre as partnership together. Their games are too similar.

I would have preferred one of them with Asamoah alongside or Devitt just behind.

This is the game where our unbeaten run is going to end if we don't book our ideas up.

We were completely comfortable for 25 minutes, but the last 20 we've completely lost it, seems like every one of our players has been booked. The ref is far too card happy, booking players for every single little thing, I can see us going down to 10 men second half.

This ref hey. He's given us a pen but really we should have had 2 pens before that.

He's an utter joke. This game is ours if we don't piss it away by giving the ref the opportunity to produce more cards and penalties against us.

i did wonder whether is picking up four bookings from five fouls in the first half was the sign of a whistle happy ref

Bit of a shit performance this has turned into to be honest. By our recent away performance standards anyway...

Hopefully we can hang on for the points

Great win!

I was a little worried about this game to be honest, delighted with another hard-fought 3 points.

We've got a great team here.

i did think Stevenage had picked up some good results and may pose a threat. So a hard fought win down there should be seen as a pretty good result.

Well just look at us now, we're 2nd in the league, 4 wins on the trot and we have set a new club unbeaten record start to a season.

Now that's quite a fucking thing!!

Could be a massive win that. 4 on the bounce, didn't play all that well compared to previous aways but dug it out.

We ll miss Danny Grainger next week, it was a cheap booking as were most. How the ref didn't give T Miller a second yellow I'll never know.

The ref was shite, the match was shite but the result was great.

who should we play at left back, Gillesphey or Brough? I'd go with Brough, leave Gillesphey where he's currently doing so well.

Either Brough or McQueen for me. I agree about keeping Gillesphey where he is.

I think Keith will either switch Gillesphey to LB and bring Brisley in... or he'll go 3 at the back.

McQueen?

Now HG I know you are not all there and you have imaginary people who tell you things that aren't true, like players we're going to sign etc but McQueen has not signed for us and even if he did sign next week do you think is he going to walk straight into the team?

That's the big argument for moving Gillesphey, that we currently have two pretty good centre-backs (one of whom we thought was going to be starting) sat on the bench.
