No, one player displayed symptoms and tested positive, 3 others have had to isolate for 14 days. Those players are Jordan Moore-Taylor, Dan Sweeney, Nicky Cadden and Matty Stevens, all key first team players 3 of whom had played every minute of the season.
The whole squad should self isolate, unless you're doing socially distanced training sessions. And they shouldn't be tested unless they display symptoms.

I did think it was strange that only 3 others have had to self isolate given they are all different positions, so wouldn't be likely to be training in the same group even if we are doing socially distanced/groups of 6 etc in training. Maybe training outside doesn't count as close enough for a long enough period of time.

Nobody fucking knows do they, let's be honest? Whole thing is a huge mess. To put a positive spin on it, you came out of Saturday with 3 points and more minutes under the belts of a few players that would probably have been on the bench otherwise.

The crux of the matter for me, is that we should be able to get tested without symptoms. Charging anyone that's not on benefits a fiver or a tenner a test would maybe discourage people from taking tests unnecessarily.

It is a mess. A relative of mine who is a teacher had some symptoms and was told to stay off and get a test but was turned away at a testing site due to apparently not showing enough of the Covid symptoms, and went straight back into school. Surely would have been better to have played it safe given how easily it can spread in schools.

That's absolutely insane. The people manning the tents/sites aren't doctors or nurses as far as I'm aware, so they shouldn't be turning people away. Their symptoms could have been worse the day before. Did the school tell your relative to come back into work?

Yep. Straight back in the next day. School had to accept the testers verdict, and hope for the best.

Bear in mind this is a school that already had the whole of year 11 self isolating due to a kid testing positive, so it's not like it was a totally Covid free zone or safe area.

The obvious thing is there isn’t a consistent message and nobody is doing anything wrong because nobody knows what ‘wrong’ is.

To an extent I can accept that, it must be incredibly difficult to get it right first time given that this is new territory for anyone. What I can’t accept is that the EFL don’t seem to have even tried to produce any guidelines whatsoever.

So 4 key players out for 4 games due to a covid outbreak, had no time to properly train with our reshuffled team before Saturday. But did we call it off. Nope. Hopefully everyone else does the same from now on or this season is fucked.
Congratulations to FGR on breaking the law.
No. They will only have broken the law if Covid protocols had not been followed during training and on match days. Covid protocols are in place at Football Clubs to stop whole squads being close contacts. Close contacts being people within 2m for around 15 minutes that haven’t mitigated. So, staggered use of changing facilities, mask use on buses to away games etc. If whole squads were having to isolate every time there was a case, the season wouldn’t have even started, let alone got to this stage.

Fair play to FGR, they have clearly been sensible and worked within the guidelines, isolated people who needed it, and then got in with it.

Edit*** I’m not passing opinion on the protocols within Football, just stating what they are.

They have actually. They just haven’t made it public. Darragh Macanthony tweeted part of it last week.

Is that a legal thing though? I haven't actually seen of any EFL guidelines on how clubs should be training, so if I've missed that I'd genuinely like to see that if you've got a link? The COVID protocols about staggering changing rooms, etc. do seem to be being adhered to from interviews I've listened to/read...but are clubs running actual training sessions socially distanced? I'd be very surprised if teams aren't partaking in contact training. I did notice on that Harrogate Town documentary on BT (which was filmed around the time of their playoff run in last season) that they were doing distanced training when they first went back into training back in the summer or whenever it was.

It was part of the framework that was agreed with the government in order to restart football. I’ll see if I can find a couple of links. I’m sure there was one on the EFL website.

In regards to physical training. It is classed the same as an actual match. So even though it is a contact sport, because individuals are not spending a prolonged period together, then they are not classed as close contacts. So when player A tests positive and tells the test and trace employee what he/she has been up to, an 8 a side training game won’t count as a close contact.

Now, if player A and player B and C car share to training for example, then obviously they are close contacts, so I would guess that kind of thing would be the reason why some FGR players are isolating, rather than contact within the club itself.

That's exactly it. They've had no pre-season and barely signed anyone. Their chairman has said he wants the season to be canceled. He's trying to force the EFL's hand.
Well you've signed players very recently and clearly weren't ready for the start of the season, hence your poor results.

Deciding to call your own games off and then seeing what the EFL says seems to be risky business. Why can't Grimsby just do what every other club does when they have a positive test.
Interesting that Scunthorpe have cancelled three games due to COVID. I'm assuming you're going to give yourself a load of shit for this, like you did with us?

Also, can all the Bradford fans please give Scunthorpe some shit?

Disgusting that Scunthorpe are trying to cancel the entire football season with this kind of behaviour. WHY CAN'T THEY JUST GET EVERYONE TESTED? WHY ARE THEY FOLLOWING THE GOVERNMENT GUIDELINES? DON'T THEY KNOW THE EFL ARE ABOVE THE LAW?

You had one player contract Covid, we had 9.

Not like you to use whataboutery.

Yes, interesting that we followed the NHS/government guidelines and only had one player contract it. It's almost as though listening to medical experts and not the EFL on this was the correct thing to do, wasn't it?

You had 1, you played on and now you have 9. You now miss 3 games.

We had one, we didn’t play on and we didn’t get anymore. We missed 2 games.

Hope this helps.

Yep.

Disappointing response from the 1FF L2 forum COVID experts regarding Scunthorpe's decision to postpone games. I can only deduce one of two things from this. Either...

We actually weren't in the wrong*.

or

Nobody gives a shit about Scunny.

The EFL aren't the ones that should be making these calls though. That's basically been the entire gist of this thread. We didn't do it ourselves, we followed the government guidelines.

Do you know if Exeter have had their results back after the Scunny game yet?

I haven't been reading the thread so fair enough.

Nope, we're still waiting for them back I think.

Good luck to Exeter on that. Mine went missing. Rang 119 and after about 5 minutes of hitting options and listening to automated messages I got through to the bit about chasing missing results, press 1 and get a recorded message that said something along the lines of "due to the volume of calls we're receiving to this section of the helpline we're currently unable to track missing test results. Goodbye." Then it hangs up.

Not very promising considering I need to take a test in a few weeks and will need the results back urgently. Sigh.

If you drive, I'd advise going to a drive in test place as I haven't heard of any problems with them. Use the QR code that they'll e-mail to you too, I used the text message and my phone number and I'm convinced that's how mine went missing.

Pathetic response to be honest. You've been a very disappointing addition to the L2 forum. Still a petulant little child.

So rumours tonight in the papers that we will be in lockdown from Wednesday until December 1st... wonder if this weekend will be the last fixtures for a while or if the EFL will play on.

We had a virtual fans forum last week and the question was asked what were the guidelines from the EFL as to whether games should be called off. Our CEO said there were no guidelines from the EFL and it was up to clubs to decide. However, the EFL have the power to investigate and sanction clubs if they think they acted improperly. Apparently, the EFL are indeed investigating some clubs. Our CEO and the owner both said that if many more games get postponed teams may end up playing Saturday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday etc.
