We had just played Darlington and lost either 2 - 1 or 2 - 0 but had absolutely battered them and their keeper was incredible, and some guy was moaning and that was the result!
Before that bit Rob Scott was saying to him 'did you watch the fucking game' and the rant whilst unprofessional was indeed fully justified in my opinion and a lot of fans warmed to him more after that outburst.

We'd absolutely hammered them that day, one of Sam Russell's numerous incredible performances against us. He was dead right in what he was saying, a smash and grab if ever you'd seen one.

Good on him for that, some fans are just utter dicks.

Bad on numberedJJ for editing titles and posts unnecessarily :dis:
Quite right, this anti-fascism in the Potteries is why Port Vale have a trawler awarded to them

Be careful what you wish for, it won't ever be the same when/if you leave Blundell Park even if times have to move on.

As mentioned on a different thread when this was broached before I have often reffered to us as Gy. Goes back to the days when the fishing industry was at it's height and GY was the prefix of all Grimsby trawlers.

It was also used by the vastly underrated band Illustrious in the '90's who were 3 lads from Grimsby who just fell short of making the big time having released a number of singles and an album. They had to change their name due to legal reason and chose Illustrious GY.

Except BP is a very old stadium that costs the club money every month, just look at other clubs that have built new stadiums and moved on. Plus at the end of the day its just a stadium, not sure why people need to be attached to them.

Plus once Fenty gets his dream built he might finally step down.

We must have safe standing at a new stadium - a proper Pontoon Stand. Also paddock standing below seats down the side - Northampton Saints rugby ground, Franklin Gardens, should be the precedent. It's circa15k capacity, cracking atmosphere, noise is held in really well, and has stands really close to pitch and quite steep incline. Far better than the identikit stadia I've been to, including the Keepmoat which I thought was just a bigger version of Glanford Park - another tin box on a retail park.

I get that - speaking as a fan of a club that moved from Layer Road (a derelict shit hole that was failing health and safety for years before we left) to a shiny new stadium. It isn't the same and almost 10 years on it still doesn't feel right. It's not about attachment to a stadium, it's about the experience and it's something I doubt will ever really be the same again. It's not half as enjoyable these days.

Looks nice on the artists impressions but might be a bit disappointing in the flesh when it isn't quite so shiny, you can see where all the corners have been cut and you're viewing it from a windswept motorway junction rather than on a computer screen.

The nearest motorway will be about 15 miles away!

These artist's impressions are a load of shit (not just these specifically). If the Fentydome ever comes to fruition it'll look nothing like that.

For a starter, it looks eerily similar in size and shape to Amsterdam Arena - yet it's just 14k apparently!

It looks like it was created by a 10 year old in some kind of FIFA stadium designer.

I know FIFA17 as yet doesn't have a stadium designer, but if it did, that would be how it would work... select 'generic small modern stadium : square' then cycle through options for the roof until the one from the Emirates takes your fancy; (you were stuck between that and the Maracana) then select > colours > primary - 'black' - secondary 'white'. Assign to team - Grimsby Town.

It's a rectangular stadium with an oval roof.

So today the council approved an option for the developers and GTFC to buy the council land subject to planning permission being accepted within the next 5 years.

So we now have 5 years to get planning permission and find the funds to buy the land and development!
