Grimsby look ok going forward, but their defence looks a bit of a mess when they have been tested. Ben Davies is walking a bit of a tightrope too.

Got something to hold onto now. Need to be careful though, sounds as though a few robust challenges going in. Need to keep our dicipline and 10 players on the pitch.

Grimsby on top since the goal though, as you might expect

How was that challenge in front of the technical area not a booking?! He’s flown in there.

How many times is “injured” Matt going to foul before he’s booked?

Luton certainly under real pressure here and are sitting very deep. Grim have hit the bar again.

Dembélé booked for diving. Definitely was not a dive. Definitely wasn’t a pen either.

Literally better off playing with 10 men than with Cook in the team.

Massive 3 points that and Jordan Cook a very lucky boy that he hasn’t cost us. Sounded real scrappy back to the walls stuff but got the job done. Given ourselves some margin for error with 2 real tough games next week.

Oh it was. All Luton did after they scored was defend. They sat incredibly deep; understandably being a man down.
Grimsby huffed and puffed, but I don't recall Stech having to make any saves.

Stech still looking shaky under pressure and crosses. Confidence not high. Esp at the end under the most pressure. He slipped several times - once literally fell over gifted them the ball six yards out. Defensive masterclass otherwise. Real battling display Sheehan excellent on his return

Thank fuck there's some worse shit than us at the bottom of this league. Best part of today is that I slept until half 4 so only had to endure 20 mins of looking at twitter updates. :2thumb:

Sheehan and Potts were absolutely fantastic today at the back.

We won whilst right up against it and Jordan Cook SURELY ended his own Luton career in the process so a great day all-round I think. Apart from Coventry winning in the cup which ruins a potentially huge away following for us.

Delighted with that. Even if Grimsby are low on confidence its still a fantastic result to get an away win with a man sent off in the first half and the score 0-0. We really had to dig in deep second half but to be honest I couldn't see Grimsby scoring. Their crowd were getting more frustrated by the minute and it seem to have an effect on their players. This win is huge. 60 points already with 17 games left. I'm also puzzled by Njs decision to start with Cook. It looked a negative one and suggested we were looking to win the midfield battle at the cost of a more attacking style. Thought to be honest it was a harsh sending off. Clumsy challenge but not dangerous enough to warrent a second yellow especially when the ref knew what it meant. Disappointed with the ref today who wasn't consistent with his decisions.
The best thing about today was our fight and team spirit and our ability to grind out a result with 10 men. Exactly what you need at this point in the season.

It must be it for Cook now. In Jones interview he was very critical over and above being disappointed with the sending off, said something along the lines he was poor and his decision making was poor too. I thought at one point he was going to say i'm fed up of blowing smoke up his arse but the interviewer cut him off at blowing!

Jones is a bit odd with some players, was kind of the same with Pigott when he was resembling a wounded giraffe up front but he stands by certain players almost to a fault. Cook is definitely one of those, but like Pigott i think he might have reached the end with him.

He had no complaints with the sending off, some seem to think its harsh who were there so id like to take a look myself.

At this time in the season what we don’t want are impetuous players who can’t control themselves and leave their team mates short on the pitch...
We should expect spiteful and jealous opposition trying to antagonise us by foul and dirty means but we should be good enough to rise above the bait and be professional and not risk this hard fought position we are in...
We must learn to control certain of our players and play with style and dignity more becoming of potential champions...

Hey Luton fans remember Slades interview at your place which was along the lines of 'They didn't have a shot on target until the 85th minute, apart from the 2 goals they scored?'
(fucking priceless )

Well it seems he is at it again, he said your goal was the only chance you had all game yesterday, now I wasn't there but I've seen the highlights and he forgets to mention the one you had cleared off the line, or the one fired across goal that just needed a touch just before you scored. Quality again from Honest Russ. :hail:

I also rather enjoyed his comments in the week, "they are good, but they arent inflammable"... Quality stuff!

Thought the Luton lads played the ref. They fell over during any tackle and tried to get Grimsby players booked throughout the game. We lost however because of our tactics and shot shy forwards not because Luton defended well or tried to con a poor ref.

Nonsense. Remember who ended up with 10

And your guys didn't try and even it up? They fell over at the slightest touch and congratulated each other every time they won a free kick, maybe my eye sight is better than yours, I was sat in the Upper Youngs stand with an uninterrupted over view of the whole pitch.

Yes, it's a bit 'sour grape' like from me, but I am more annoyed at my lot for not overcoming 10 men, than your's for their professionalism.

Ben Davies was pretty lucky to stay on the pitch. He made a tackle from behind that went unpunished other than a free kick. Another player slid in about a seconds after the ball had gone in front of the technical area. No booking.

Anyway, we won. Move on.

We defended as well as we needed to. Hard to defend better than required :bg:
