Can't have looked very far because, according to various posts across social media and forums, apparently Akinde got monkey gestures aimed at him (the individual clearly identifiable apparently) and kicking off down the side streets.

I didn't to be fair, as soon as that final whistle goes, I'm off back to the 21st century of West Yorkshire :bg:

Personally didn't see the racist gesture but if evidence is there let's hope the offender is caught and prosecuted.

Is there any proof to this, other than social media posts? Not saying I don’t believe it mind.

We were lucky, very lucky. Even game till they scored, scrappy and no one really getting a foothold in the game in my opinion. After the goal before and after half time, Grimsby were the far better side and it at times felt like waves and it was beginning to feel the 2nd was going to be inevitable. We couldn’t stop crosses into the box and had to throw some bodies in the way. When it didn’t come I felt we started to get a bit more confident. Then the penalty came. I thought I had a pretty decent view (ie it was right in front of me) and for me it’s not a penalty. Akinde played for it and went down softly ( Rhead never gets that for instance) . But after it’s given what a cool finished. After that the game opened up with us slightly on the front foot but Grimsby always a threat on the break. If Grimsby get so fortune with shots or get a goal scorer I can see them being there or thereabouts at the end of the season. All in all grab the point and run back to Lincoln (if you can get back past the concert at the racecourse)

Just to point out, and this may turn out to be a false dawn, but Jolley has done a cracking job. Lincoln may have been slightly off their game today but for us to go from the abject performance at Sincil Bank in March, to bettering a (possibly) better Lincoln team is some turnaround. Would be lovely to beat MK Franchise on Tuesday!

Jolley deserves huge credit, he played 4 Centre backs knowing Lincoln would go direct and I can’t remember us losing a single header as a result.

Point being, Les has used one game to generalise us, so I've generalised one game back.

It was more of an ironic post back.
Hmmmm, seems more like you are back pedalling considering you said...

It obviously wasn't otherwise we'd have won. If we had played like we did last week against Swindon, we'd have won regardless of how you played today. That, and one game is an incredibly small sample size.
...but I guess it doesn't really matter.

Today's news is tomorrow's fish and chip paper.

Yesterday your midfield controlled the game (after first 20 mins) and probably had more menace in the forward line whilst mainly managing our attacking threat. Only bit missing for you was the ability to convert possession and momentum into goals.

Yesterday was a good day for your manager in terms of tactics and approach- he did well.

Today? We have taken a point away from home and remain unbeaten this season and you have dropped 5 out of 6 points in your first two home games.

It's August, 3 games in and a long way to go yet...for both teams.

Akinde still falls over and gets his penalties I see.
It's about all he's got in his locker these days, the Barnet fans said his injury last season had lost him a yard of pace and on yesterday's evidence it looked to be the case. There were a few moments when the Akinde of 2 or 3 years ago would have had the ball in the back of the net yesterday but he lacked the edge that previously made him so clinical. Out battled for the majority of our match by Collins and Whitmore too. Perhaps he's lacking match fitness as we were told previously, but he's started every match for Lincoln now I believe?

Akinde is not the player he was, anybody denying that is deluded imo.

Never a pen, don't know how the ref has given that.

Started all the league games and came on as a sub in the game in the Port Vale, where he actually won the ball off a defender ran through and scored. Very rare sight so far him doing that, looks very short of fitness. Green has looked our best striker after four games but its very early to make any judgements on players, even Jon Welsh it would appear.

Agreed, definitely not worth the 950K that Lincoln paid for him.

He used to not do a lot most of the time until he got in the box, fell over and then scored the inevitable pen.

What's he like now?

The ref was from Hull and they don't like Grimsby much, something to do with fish I believe....
He has previous with us as well.

He was an absolute menace the season Barnet went up. Admittedly, he never really strayed out wide but defenders used to bounce off him when he had a sniff of goal and he used to win a lot of headers.

He’s definitely started poorly, but still 3 goals in 4 games. He’s not really adding much to the team at the moment. If that’s because of lack of match fitness, we’re not playing to his strengths or he’s just not that good difficult to say at this stage. Yesterday he was very isolated so was always going to struggle. Not sure which chances he would have had in the back of the net 2-3 years a go? The only chance I remember was the penalty!

There was one in the first half when he got the ball on the turn and managed to get a shot away on his right foot but didn't trouble McKeown and there were a few balls into the box that he barely even challenged for that were previously his bread and butter. None clear cut chances admittedly, but sniffs of half chances that I'd have expected him to at least threaten from.

Just going over some of the pre-match analysis...
Going for 0-3 imps Akinde (pen) O'Connor and Collins (OG)

Welsh to see red.

Should be a cracker!
...at least this one wasn't a complete failure!!:lol::lol:

I am sure I and the other Imps want to know when the Grimsby DVD is coming out after the Mariners managed to hold the Lincoln Galacticos to a draw?! :gmc:

Just so you know, Danny Collins took Akinde down with a broken arm.

I think we'll be up for this and it'll be great to see a couple of local lads playing for us in a derby but sadly Lincoln are the team to beat for me this season and they've just got more quality around the park. I don't see us getting battered by any means but I'll be surprised if we manage to win. I'll go for an optimistic 1-1 and that's purely down to my opinion that Lincoln will smash the league this season.
Spot on sir, do you have the euromillions numbers for tomorrow???
Too many changes for changes sake for me at the mo, only 2 players have started every game.
We need to start picking a settled team especially at the back.

Broke his arm and Grimsby hearts. Another bad day at the office for old Danny boy.

Not half as bad as Lincoln’s overall performance. Must be a bit embarrassing after all the hype to see you play so badly and be gifted a pen.

Not really sure the point you're making?

Les has generalised us on the Grimsby game and I've then pointed out a game at the other extreme to generalise back.

Yeah terrible performance but they happen. Thought we'd pump you to be fair. When you play badly you lose 4-1, when we play badly we draw 1-1. That's the difference.

That's not how it read to me, but fair enough.
