Now this is one that deserves its own thread. We've lost Lincoln and they've lost Chesterfield and Notts in the last two seasons, so both clubs need fixtures like this. Steeped in a rich tapestry of TFF/1FF history this one usually occasionally delivers. Hearn vs Green, Year of the Stag, 7-2, sprinklers on their pitch for a whole day before calling it off due to a waterlogged pitch, etc.

We really should be beating teams like Mansfield, however they simply have to start picking up points soon due to the ridiculous amount of money they have thrown at their squad again. Just hoping it's not this week when they click. First week of the season since the second week in which we haven't had a game midweek (apparently there's only us that that applies to in the 92), so hopefully we'll be fresh.

Green and Hanson both rested at Exeter so it will be interesting to see what Jolley does here. I think the defence will remain unchanged (Gibbo, Pollock, Waterfall and Hendrie) with Davis potentially getting a decent amount of minutes. Hess and Robson will almost certainly start, probably with Whitehouse. Then it's up top in the three that's the quandary for Jolley. I could see him going with Rose, Green and Hanson like he did on the opening day however Max Wright has surely earnt himself another start. I still really want to see us play 4-4-2. Would be interested to hear the other Town fans' thoughts, but is a midfield four of Max Wright on the left, Robson and Hess in the middle and Elliot Hewitt on the right absolutely mental? And then obviously Green and Hanson up top in a two, which would probably suit Green more.

How many Stags fans coming? Any chance you'll hit 4 figures?

Some great prices around at the moment. Got Charlton at a whopping 11/2 to beat Leeds at the weekend.

Cook and Wright should be starting IMO.

Hanson, Green and Wright up top, midfield of Robson, Cook and Hess.

Absolutely - Plymouth were 12/5 on Saturday - another £50 odd made. Happy days.

I keep forgetting about Cook, to be honest. Not sure if he's actually started a game I've seen yet this season.

We have been playing better but I’m not confident enough to predict a win.

Honestly I doubt four figures like recent times, apathy springs to mind.... I’m not going anymore anyway I’ll watch it on ifollow. Maybe I should go for my annual reminder Mansfield is not that bad of a place in comparison to places further north/east.

Noticed this poor run of form has really taken it's toll on John Radford...

Traditionally Mansfield struggle at Blundell Park (while we have an ever poorer record at their gaff), of the 25 meeting in Cleethorpes we have won 13 and drawn 6, while they have won 6 times also.

I see no reason why this tread should alter on Saturday, confidence is high after the win at Exeter and Mansfield seem to be miss-firing so far this season.

Comfortable 3-1 win to Grimsby.

Rumours are as little as 500 could be going.

It’s a real tough watch so far this season, the football is amateurish, tactics non-existent.

Though dempster has had the embarrassment of basically being told how he should manage by the senior players this week

Get yourself a seaside train ticket and visit the coast for the fresh air, 500 is a poor turn out for such a wonderful resort as Cleethorpes. We get over 500 Mansfield people on a non-footie Summer weekend usually: don't let the football put you off.

Why do you say that like it's out of the norm? Fairly standard Mansfield following that. Don't think you've ever sold out our away end, have you? In the last 10-15 years at least.

Well, the joke will be on you when we get our giant 70 foot palm tree.

When did we last take 500 fans SoC? I’ve just checked the last three seasons and it’s been 900, 700 and 1200 I imagine all were early kick offs too, so 500 would be clearly a decent drop especially considering the usual kick off time too.

Edit, Just looked and our last 500ish following was in the conference, we got battered as per usual 4-1 obviously.

Either way it’s definitely going to be a below par following, there’s no way in hell I'm travelling anywhere under our current management unless we take this season seriously and hire a proper football manager.

I was just going off memory more than anything. It probably seems less usually because you don't make that much noise then, but those numbers are a bit better than I would have guessed.

Yeah atmosphere never been great at Grimsby weirdly enough, yet for example when we played Coventry the other year in that empty bowl we had Coventry fans saying we were the best fans to visit for ages, weird that.

Well I’m always worried that stand will collapse so best not to make much noise, that after being depressed stuck in Grimsby for a few hours before kick off normally sometime around Christmas when it’s even more shit and cold than it would be at any other time.

The following would be poor given the football, it’ll be odd playing Grimsby while being below them, that’s got to be a first for the last decade or so - but football can do crazy things!

Why all the negative and bitter words about Grimsby Town and Cleethorpes? It's not our fault your club is in a shit state (like almost always since I was born in late 1953).

Look at the bigger picture and be pleased for us Lincolnshire people and our splendid county with it's golden sands, rolling hills and friendly locals. Try and be nice, you might even enjoy being pleasant for a change!

Let's not forget 112 years before that decade when we were pretty much always above you, most of which was with the breathing space of a couple of divisions.

Adamstag wasn't born before the last decade though, so he has no concept of where Grimsby or Mansfield were before then.

Bit of a dilemma for Mr Jolley. Does he go with the same starting XI that played so well at Exeter on Saturday or does he bring Hanson and Green back in?

Green, Hanson and Wright up top for me. Hopefully being instructed to not just pump balls into the box all the time. The reliance on Hanson needs to reigned in a bit and that's probably easier to do when he's not on the pitch, but he's still a great weapon at this level. Especially against frail defences like the Mansfield one.

Hey you can victimise against me just because I’m not 74!

I remember when I first got into footy when both you and Stockport were up there, it’s a strange one, Bournemouth we’re nowhere to be seen, and hull and Swansea nearly went down to the conference!

There won’t be a dilemma for you I can assure you, a nice October stroll for your boys 3-0
